ST ANNES CRICKET CLUB

Founded: c1888. Joined Northern League: 1952
Cricket in the area can be traced back to 1870 but the present club was formed in 1888. St Annes CC became founder members of the Palace
Shield Competition in 1902 when they were inaugural champions. The club disbanded during the first world war and their ground became an
RHA training centre. They moved to their present ground in 1925 and joined the Ribblesdale League in 1928 becoming joint champions in 1940.
After leaving to become founder members of the Northern League in 1952, they became inaugural champions and were unbeaten in
league games. St Annes have been Northern League champions on six further occasions, in 1952, 1996, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011 and division two
champions in 2003, 2005 and 2008.
Notable former players include Andrew Flintoff, who joined the club as a 12-year-old junior player in 1989 and made his first-team debut for St Annes in 1992

Directions: - From the end of the M55 ignore St Annes signs and follow the signs to the Airport. After passing the Airport
and reaching the coast turn left onto Clifton Drive. At the traffic lights turn left into Highbury Road. After passing the Golf Club,
the entrance to the ground is between the white house and bungalow on the left-hand side.
