Northern League Preview for 23rd and 25th May

It's a busy Bank Holiday weekend of Cricket in The Northern Cricket League, whilst The Lancashire Knockout and County Cup Competitions also take place.

SATURDAY: 23rd May

DIVISION ONE:

In the first of this weekends fixtures, Fleetwood begin at home to Preston. Fleetwood playing their first match on their home turf, since some major work was done on their facility.

Fleetwood will be glad that they are finally at home as they look to gain some consistency after an indifferent few weeks.

For Preston they currently sit bottom of the League and continue to struggle, for Yasin Patels side its about trying to gain some form and get some points on the board.

At Windsor Park inform Chorley will be looking for more points as they host Penrith who are without Paul Hindmarch due to injury. Chorley have found their form in recent weeks, whilst Penrith have also been playing well, as they look to continue their run of form.

Barrow host Netherfield at Ernest Pass with both sides desperate to find some form. Barrow suffering with inconsistency whilst Netherfield are desperately trying to get their act together after making a poor start to the season.

At The Stanning Memorial Ground, Leyland return from their free weekend as they host inform Darwen. Jordan Clarkes men in good form, as they look to stay in touch with Blackpool at the top.

The game of the afternoon is undoubtedly at Lune Road as unbeaten Lancaster host League Champions Blackpool. Lancaster have had a resurgence following on from last seasons struggles.

They look good with the bat and also with the ball. Blackpool have just carried on from last season as they aim to defend their league title, they currently sit top and are looking in good touch. The usual Gleeson, Viljeon partnership just continuing from last season.

However at Shap Road, struggling Kendal host Morecambe, with Kendal having to do without Professional Eldred Hawkens due to a hamstring injury

Kendal acquiring the services of Azeem Ghumman. Morecambe on the other hand have made an excellent start, losing just 1 game up to now as they look to extend that run.

DIVISION TWO:

Inform Netherfield host Barrow, as they look to capitalize on St Annes free date,Morecambe entertain Kendal, Darwen host Leyland,whilst Penrith entertain Chorley.

In the other games Blackpool host Lancaster whilst Preston play Fleetwood at West Cliff.

SUNDAY: 24th May

In the First Round of The LCB Knockout Competition Darwen entertain Barrow at Birch Hall, in the other games St Annes host Garstang, whilst Leyland travel to Walsden.

Blackpool given a bye into the next round of the Competition.

The Cumbria County Cup also takes place this Sunday as Netherfield travel to Appleby and Eden.

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY:

DIVISION ONE

In the second of the Bank Holiday League Fixtures, theirs a few traditional derby games taking place.

The Netherfield vs Kendal derby always important, both sides desperate for form, arguably one of the biggest games of the season. Kendals Sub professional for the afternoon is JP De Villiers.

In the other games it should be a tasty encounter at Woodhill Lane as inform Morecambe host inform Lancaster.

Leyland travel to Preston,whilst St Annes host Chorley, League Champions Blackpool entertaining Fleetwood.

Penrith hosting Barrow at Tynefield Park.

DIVISION TWO

Kendal host Netherfield, Lancaster entertain Morecambe, Preston host Leyland, Chorley play St Annes at Windsor Park. Fleetwood 2nds finally at home as they play Blackpool, Barrow entertaining Penrith.
