Northern Premier League Under 21s v MCC

At Darwen CC

Northen League Under 21 Team with manager Clive Henderson

On another sunny day the Northern Premier League Under 21s took on a MCC team at Birch Hall Darwen.

The MCC batted first and reached 44-2 thanks to good catching, Sam Painter off Edwin Moulton's bowling and Matthew grindley off Matthew Liver's.

Duncan Catterall joined Tom Liversedge and they took the total to 93 when Liversedge was well caught mby Tom Jefferson off the bowling of Joshua Boyne

Chris Booth came to the crease and on 128 Duncan Catterall was caught down the leg side by Ben Howarth off Edwin Moulton



Craig Williamson plays an unorthodx stroke

Craig Williamson joined Booth and they took the total to 172 wthen Booth was out bowled by Bradley Earl for 30.

The innings closed shortly afterwards with the MCC on 182 - 6 with Williamson 21no

The Under 21 Bowling figures were as follows:



Matthew Grindley - 17 Overs 7 Maidens 37 Runs 0 Wickets



Edwin Moulton - 13 Overs 4 Maidens 46 Runs 2 wickets



Matthew Liver - 7 Overs 1 Maiden 32 Runs 1 wicket



Joshua Boyne - 9 Overs 1 Maiden 26 Runs 1 Wicket



Bradley Earl - 5 Overs 0 Maidens 33 Runs 2 Wickets

The Under 21's started off steadily and had reached 34 when Tom Jefferson was bowled by Jonathan Fawcett, Joshua Boyne quickly followed caught behind by Booth off Fawcett with the total 42 - 2

Captain Bradley Earl joined Nathan Bolus and they took the score to 106 when Earl was out caught off Harry Smallwood for 35

Shortly afterwards Bolus reached his fifty but was then bowled by Smallwood for 58. Reece Davies then took on the challenge and made a quick 24 before being out caught Booth bowled Smallwood

The game was evenly balanced when Darius Ainslie with three mighty hits swung the game in the Under 21's favour, Ben Howarth hit the winning boundary to give 21's victory by 3 wickets

Darius Ainslie was 27 not out and Ben Howarth 9 not out. Harry Smallwood took 4-57 and Jonathan Fawcett 3-43 for the MCC
