St Annes Cricket Club Season preview

St Annes Cricket Club look forward to the 2014 campaign, keen to right the wrongs of a dissapointing 2013 season.

The team from Vernon Road, who will still be captained by Andy Kellett and have added two new faces to the squad in opening bat and medium change bowler Adam Holt from Clifton CC, as well as Mikey Harling from Rochdale who is a medium paced bowler.

St Annes retain Toby Bulcock as Professional for a second season but lose Neil Bradley who has decided to retire.

Andy Kellett is looking for an improved campaign after i caught up with him ahead of the season opener with Netherfield Cricket Club

"After a disappointing 2013, its very pleasing that we have 2 new faces for 2014. Adam Holt has joined us from Clifton CC in the Central Lancashire League. Adam is an opening bat and medium pace bowler. Mikey Harling has also joined us from Rochdale in the Central Lancashire League. Mikey is a medium pace bowler and he represented Cumberland last season.

Unfortunately Neil Bradley has decided to retire and we will miss Neil's experience and valuable runs down the order.

Apart from myself and Lukman, we are a very young team but our young players have now had plenty of 1st team experience and we will be relying on them all improving this year and having big seasons. they are certainly capable of doing that.

Our young batsman Nathan Bolus and Nathan Armstrong who both had decent seasons last year have been playing Australia over the winter so we are hoping for big things from those two. Matt Grindley and Matt Taaffe are other youngsters who had good seasons last year and can only improve this this year.

Toby Bulcock has remained our Professional. He had a good season last year and fully deserved his new contract this year.

All in all we are looking forward to the season, have practiced hard so far, have a good team spirit and are looking to make an impact this year after a couple of poor seasons"
