Northern League Preview for the Weekend 10th and 11th May

Division 1

Barrow entertain Blackpool at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground both having a mixed weekend. Blackpool lost on Saturday but bounced back to defeat Fleetwood at Stanley Park on Monday and go to Barrow in good spirits. Their professional Christi Viljeon had preformances of 5-42 and 6-52

Barrow had a winning draw at Preson with Ryan Brown making 121 but suffered defeat at Darwen under the new D/L rules. They will be hoping to get back on winning ways

St Annes travel to Chorley, Chorley had a 15pt win against Blackpool Billy Smith taking 7-26 but their game against Lancaster on Monday was abandoned due the pitch not being fit for play.

St Annes lost to Fleetwood on Saturday and had no game on Monday, they will want to get back the winning habit ASAP

Darwen have Kendal has their visitors and will be full of confidence after winning all their four games this season.

Kendal with 2 wins and a draw so far will be keen to continue and progress up the table

Fleetwood are at home to Lancaster. Fleetwood had a good win at St Annes with professional Jean De Villiers scoring 101 and taking 5 wickets. He also took 5 wickets in their defeat at Stanley Park.

Lancaster had a terrible weekend losing to Netherfield on Saturday and having their Monday game agaist Chorley abandoned due to an unfit pitch. Things can only get better for the Lune Road team

Morecambe go to Parkside Road to play Netherfield. They had a bad weekend suffering two defeats and will be looking for a win on Saturday.

Netherfield had a win and a draw at the weekend and are hoping to find some form and move up the table. On Sunday they play the Lancashire Colts

Preston play Penrith at West Cliff. Preston have had a difficlt season so far and are looking to improve their position in the league

In their first season Penrith are holding their own so far and will be looking for their second win

Leyland have no game this weekend

Division 2

Blackpool have Barrow as their visitors at Stanley Park, Barrow had two good wins at the weekend and will be hoping to continue in that vain. Ian Allington had a Monday to remember scoring 64 and taking 6-8

Blackpool had a winning draw on Saturday and defeated Fleetwood on Monday and will be looking to maintain their progress

Kendal face Darwen at Shop Road, They had no game on Saturday and a high scoring draw on Monday. After winning their first two games they will want to continue in the winning vain

Darwen will be without Andrew Cook who suffered a bad leg injury, we wish him well. Their form as not been good recently and they will want to battle their way back to form

Fleetwood are at Lancaster. They suffered two defeats at the weekend and will be looking to restore their fortunes. Lancaster had a bad weekend having only 9 men on Saturday and were unable to send a team to Chorley on Monday. We wish them better fortune.

Morecambe have Netherfield at Woodhill Lane, Opening batsman Gareth Pedder is the run machine at the moment scoring 113no and 104 last weekend. However their bowlers have been unable to turn their high scores into victories.

Netherfield won their two games last weekend and as league leaders will want to remain at the top

Preston travel to Penrith having had a poor start to the season but will continue to fight to improve their position. Penrith have made a steady start in their first season and will be looking for their first win

St Annes entertain Chorley and will be looking for the win to climb up the league table, Chorley third in the League will be looking for the win and so keep up the pressure on the top two

Leyland have no game this weekend
