Preview for weekend 2nd and 3rd August Its another busy weekend of Northern Cricket League and Readers Cup action as the battle for silverware continues. Terry Hunte in action for Kendal DIVISION ONE: In Division One the title race is between Blackpool and Leyland, after Darwen slipped up against the Colts last Sunday. League Leaders Blackpool will be looking to extend their lead when they travel to play Ben Simm's Lancaster. Blackpool have been consistent in the league and will be confident of victory against a Lancaster side that have had a difficult 2014 campaign. At the same time Lancaster do boast wins over teams such as Kendal and Netherfield so it certainly won't be an easy game for Paul Danson's team. In the other matches, second placed Leyland return from their weekend off when they entertain an inconsistent Kendal team. This could potentially be a difficult game for the hosts who will be looking to keep the pressure on the leaders. At Ernest Pass Barrow entertain St Annes,two teams that have found it difficult to get a consistent run of form going. They are both teams that have alot of quality who feel that they should be higher up in the league table. This has the makings of being the game of the afternoon as a victory would certainly help the cause in both teams quest to climb up the league ladder. For the other league teams, Netherfield host Preston, with Netherfield looking for a win, against a very unpredictable Preston team. Whilst Chorley host Morecambe and Penrith entertain Fleetwood. On Sunday its The Readers Cup Semi Final as St Annes entertain Netherfield. The winners go onto face the winners of the Kendal v Lancashire Colts game which is being played a week later. Morecambe are also in league action on Sunday when they host The Lancashire Colts. DIVISION TWO: In Division Two, Leyland will be keen to extend their lead at the top when they face Kendal away, whilst Netherfield will believe they can still cause a challenge when they travel to Preston. St Annes are also in the running as they host Barrow.
