LCB KNOCKOUT CUP COMPETITION 2015

The draw for the 2015 LCB Knockout Cup Competition took place yesterday Monday 13th October at Emirates Old Trafford during the LCB Recreation Committee Meeting.

This is the primary Knockout Competition in the county where clubs from 12 Leagues qualify to feature. Next year the Greater Manchester Amateur Cricket League and the 3D Sports Southport & District Cricket League have 2 teams entered into the draw bringing the total to 59 Clubs, as the Isle of Man Cricket Association have not entered due to them deciding to go on a tour instead.

The draw was made by Bobby Cross (Director of the LCB) and Bill Robinson (Treasurer of the LCB) and has thrown up a number of interesting fixtures in the first round. The 2014 LCB Knockout Cup Winners and Med Imaging Liverpool & District Cricket Competition Champions, Ormskirk CC will host Vernon Carus CC, the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield League Champions. Last year's finalists and winners of the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League, Norden CC will travel to Walshaw CC of the Anthony Axford Bolton Association. Other notable ties include Star Eleven XI CC who will travel to Clitheroe CC and what for many could be the tie of the round features the powerful Walsden CC, unlucky beaten Semi Finalists in 2014, having home advantage against Leyland CC of the Northern Premier League.

Paul Bryson, Clubs and Leagues Manager of the LCB, said: "The introduction of set dates and minor tweaks to the Competition Rules in readiness for 2015 should lead to more games being played helping to avoid bowl outs that affected many games in late May.

"All Leagues have agreed to avoid the set dates and hopefully this will mean many clubs can progress without local League / Cup Fixture conflict."

If any organisation would like to sponsor this flagship competition and discuss this opportunity please contact Paul Bryson at pbryson@lccc.co.uk.
