Club Chairman Andrew Hall is looking forward to the new season, as he gives me his thoughts on the campaign ahead
"So many significant changes have occurred since the end of last season as we look forward to our debut season in the Northern Cricket League.
We have been massively strengthened by the return of Alex Atkinson, Greg Hall and Tony Threlkeld.
Opening bat Ryan Carruthers and his brother Angus a left handed all rounder, have been recruited from Cockermouth.
Sixteen year old allrounder Ben Davidson has also joined from Carlisle. Add to this our new Head Coach Karanjit Bansal who is relocating from Scunthorpe and new Professional Paul Hindmarch and the 1st X1 squad is looking more than capable of holding its own.
Alex, Ryan and Paul are all part of the Cumberland squad this season and Karanjit will continue to play for his home County Lincolnshire. All in all there is considerable confidence that all four of the Clubs' senior teams can have very good seasons.
Thanks to funding received primarily from Sport England via the Inspired Facilities Fund, the Pavilion has been extensively refurbished; the entire building has been re-wired; a new entrance hall constructed which includes a disabled toilet; the lounge bar has been extended and a full commercial kitchen installed - this will enable us to offer pre match meals to match sponsors and their guests, as well as significantly improve our capability to host weddings, christening's and parties"
