Preview for weekend 26th and 27th July

Leyland have weekend off can Blackpool take advantage?

DIVISION ONE:

Blackpool will be looking to capitalise on Leyland's free weekend as they host Barrow at Stanley Park. Blackpool could only make a losing draw at Fleetwood last weekend, whilst they tasted defeat in The Readers Cup to Kendal on Sunday.

This is a crucial game for Paul Danson's team as they look to extend their gap over Leyland who are currently in Malta. Barrow travel to Stanley Park looking to gain some consistency, last weekend was frustrating for the visitors with a rained off game against Darwen and defeat to The Colts in the cup making this Saturdays game a key encounter.

The ambition for Barrow is to finish in a top 4 place, they have alot of talent and ability within their side such as Sam Dutton who has taken the league by storm this campaign, however it has been the inconsistencies and turning the winning draws into wins which has been the biggest frustration.

Blackpool will be keen to get back to winning ways, with Christi Viljeon, Richard Gleeson, Paul Danson and Stephen Twist looking to shine.

In the other games Jordan Clarke's Darwen make the difficult trip to face an inform Kendal side. Darwen will still feel that they are in with a shout of League success, however the rained off game at Barrow would have held them back a bit. Despite some bad results Darwen are having a good season.

George Linde has been a good professional, whilst other players such as Kamran Anwar have shone for the team. Darwen are also in action on Sunday when they host the Lancashire Colts. The Colts in confident mood following their Readers Cup success at Barrow last Sunday.

Kendal have been in inspired form of late, they did well to hold on for a winning draw at Morecambe, whilst victory in the cup at Blackpool puts Stu Parkins team in a good place.

Young Darren Nightingale has come to the fore in recent weeks bowling a crucial last over maiden to save the game at Morecambe, whilst he also impressed in the cup win at Blackpool.

The more senior players such as Terry Hunte and Jamie How, with the bowling attack of Chris Miller, Stu Parkin,Nick Lewthwaite and Adam Cowperthwaite also strengthens their bid for a top 4 finish. This is the first visit of both sides this season with the last game rained off.At Lune Road Lancaster host Morecambe. Ben Simm's Lancaster have had a spell of funny results of late a rain reduced win over Netherfield was followed by defeat at Chorley. Michael Barry has been a good signing as professional whilst the likes of Jamie Heywood, Iain Perrieman, and Samuel Moorby have also come to the fore.

Fleetwood have had a bad spell, but travel to Lancaster in good heart following their winning draw against leaders Blackpool. Mat Clark's team will be looking at maximum points in this Saturdays fixture as they look to get a run going.

In the other games, Morecambe host Netherfield, as the hosts look to build some form, whilst for Netherfield it is all about building on their win over Leyland last Sunday and climbing the league.

Penrith entertain a struggling but very resilient Preston team. this is a key game for both teams who are looking to get a win on the board.

The final game see St Annes entertain Chorley, St Annes looking to build and improve with their sights set on the top 4, whilst Chorley are looking to rebuild whats been a bad spell. However their win over Lancaster will give them some momentum for whats always a tough away day encounter.
