Blackpool Cricket Club Season Preview

Blackpool are looking to build on a promising 2013 campaign, which saw them win the Readers Cup as they enter into this seasons Northern Cricket League.

Paul Danson's team are unchanged from last season with the exception of the Professional who this season is Namibian Christi Vijoen. A right handed bat who bowls right arm medium pace.

The captains view:

"Everybody at Blackpool is looking forward to the new season immensely. It's going to be tough but nobody expected us to do a great deal last year and we achieved an awful lot. The squad on the whole will be the same as last year but we know as a team that where we are now is good and I'm really happy with the quality we've got.

It's a young side that is going to get better and we have to work along those lines and improve as we go forward. There's a lot of lads starting to come through the system we have and have pride in playing for Blackpool. It's established that there's an opportunity to go through the ranks here from the Juniors, second team to first team cricket.

On the playing front we have lost John Mounsey to BAC Preston which opens the door to one of our promising Juniors.

Our Professional this season will be Christi Viljoen. Christi is a right handed batsmen who bowls right arm medium pace. He has spent the winter representing Namibia in both international and domestic competitions.

A lot of work as been taking place around the club with the erection of a new scoreboard, ongoing club house renovations and sure visiting teams will enjoy their trips to Stanley Park this year"
