Barry signs up for Lancaster

Lancaster Cricket Club have signed Auckland Aces batting all-rounder Michael Barry for their Northern Premier League campaign. He replaces Jannisar Kahn who was the professional for the club last season

Michael (22) has represented Auckland through the age-groups (Under-14s to Under-19s), during three National Provincial A Tournaments and in February 2013, three Plunket Shield matches for the Aces. He made an excellent first impression on New Zealand's domestic circuit scoring 49 and 77 on first-class debut against Wellington.

He earned his spot in the Aces line-up after solid performances for Suburbs New Lynn in Premier Grade Cricket and for Auckland A. He has averaged 30 and 56.50 during the past two National Provincial "A" Tournament respectively and, at the point of writing has scored 3,755 runs at 32.09 (with a highest score of 178) and taken 56 wickets at 15.42 (26 wickets at 11.58 in 2011/12) since his Premier debut in 2008.

Michael is now one of the prominent figures in Auckland Premier Club Cricket and has recently assumed the captaincy of his team in the current season. He is currently involved with the Auckland Aces wider training squad and is eager to cement his spot over the coming seasons.

He is hoping to contribute towards Lancaster's success in the Northern Premier League this summer.
