Holland signs up for Fleetwood
New pro signs on at Fleetwood |
Defending Northern Cricket League holders Fleetwood unveiled Australian all rounder Ian Holland as The Clubs Professional for the 2013 campaign.
A Statement from Fleetwood Cricket Club reads
Fleetwood CC are pleased to announce that Ian Holland will be our overseas professional for the 2013 season. Ian is a proven all-rounder who bats and bowls right handed.
Ian is 22 years old, and currently has a rookie contract with the Victoria Bushrangers in Australia. Although he has yet to make his debut for the Bushrangers, he is a regular for the U23 side and 2 XI. He plays 1 grade cricket for Ringwood, and this year he has scored 367 runs at an average of 33 (high score of 111), and also taken 30 wickets at an average of 12, with a best of 5-22.
In January 2012 Ian won the first ever Cricket Superstar programme that was aired in Australia. The programme was a reality show in which the winner would be offered a rookie contract with the Bushrangers. The chief judge on the show was the former Australian Captain and legend Allan Border. On winning the Show Allan had the following to say.
What I liked most about Ian was his all-rounder skills, along with the character he brings to the table and his valuable leadership qualities. It was his overall package that was really compelling. I am confident he has what it takes, but now it is up to him.
Ian is extremely pleased to be joining Fleetwood and likewise Fleetwood are happy to have signed the up and coming Australian all-rounder. Ian is looking forward to arriving in April and being available for the whole summer. As well as playing at Broadwaters he is also keen on getting into the local community and schools and help with any coaching needs.
