By Richard Edmondson

Terry Hunte 10 runs short as he aims to get over the line v Netherfield

This is derby weekend in the Northern Cricket League, the battle for the league title intensifies, as Barrow, Leyland and Lancaster fight it out at the top.

DIVISION ONE

It is the Kendal v Netherfield derby match this Saturday at Shap Road. potentially a special moment for Terry Hunte who is just 10 runs short of reaching 20,000 runs in the Northern Cricket League.

Both sides have enjoyed many battles in these matches, Netherfield have had the advantage over the near neighbours for a few years, but at the same time Kendal will fancy their chances especially after their win at inform Lancaster last weekend.
Kendal go into the game with Adil Raza as their Professional for the afternoon.

Netherfield go into the game with confidence and for them this is the first of whats a massive weekend for the team as they compete in The ECB Twenty-20 Finals at Parkside Road on Sunday.

Netherfield facing Astley Bridge at 10:30, before the Second Semi Final between Ormskirk v Rochdale which gets underway at 2pm.
The final taking place at 5pm.

The game at Woodhill Lane sees inform Morecambe host title chasing Lancaster, these games always bring alot of excitement and sometimes drama. Lancaster keen to bounce back from the defeat to Kendal, whilst Morecambe will be looking to push on after their upturn in fortunes over recent weeks. Lancaster still have an outside chance for the league but need to win this game, to stay in with a shout.

For the other teams, League leaders Barrow could strengthen their position for the League title if they can get a result at St Annes, a tough place to go as they play a team that have improved significantly on last season.

Leyland meanwhile travel to face bottom side Preston at West Cliff with Luis Reece back as profesisonal for David Makinson's team

In the other two derby's, Fleetwood host Blackpool, whilst Darwen entertain Chorley.
