Season Preview: Chorley Cricket Club

Chorley Cricket Club

Looking to right the wrongs of last season

Captain: Andrew Holdsworth, Professional: Gaurav Dhar, Last Season Finished 12th

Chorley go into season 2013 looking to make amends for a dissapointing 2012 where they finished 12th in the league

The team from Windsor Park go into the new campaign, retaining the services of Gaurav Dhar as the clubs professional, however they have also made some key additions bringing in David Fisher and Ian Dickinson from Leyland, as well as signing ex Bolton Association Professional Ian Griffiths.

Chorley open their campaign with a tough game at Kendal, one of the challengers for the league title.

Captains View:

"The 2013 season will be a highly competitive campaign on all fronts, I believe there to be a number of clubs that will be pushing for the big prizes which will be good for the league.

Everyone at Chorley are very much looking forward to the new season. The boys are very much determined to put right the wrongs of last season and to prove themselves as players.

We are still a very young side but not young in terms of experience of 1st team cricket in the Northern League,

There is enough experience within the squad to really mount a challenge on all fronts.

We have made 3 excellent additions to the team to strengthen out batting line up.

David Fisher and Ian Dickinson both from Leyland have joined to bolster our line up along with ex Bolton Association professional Andrew Griffiths.

These are 3 very fine players who will add a great value of experience to our talented line up, and support our already outstanding bowling line up.

These signings were key to our hopes for the new season, as this for the first time in my 4 years as Captain provides me with a squad of players rather than a team of players.

It is very important to create competition for places within the club. We have retained the services of Gaurav Dhar as professional who we will be looking to reproduce his 2011 season performances with hopefully some dry weather to help this.

I firmly believe we have the potential to go far this season despite the troubles of last year

The league position did not reflect the ability we have within the team, and it is our challenge to prove how good we can be over the whole season not just on occasions. A challenge we are ready for and looking forward too"
