Stolen Equipment from Gwersyllt Cricket Club
Hi............it's Ron Pearson, Gwersyllt Park CC.
Early this a.m. we discovered that our Cricket "Shed" had been broken into and that machinery had been stolen.
Those of you who know Gwersyllt's ground will recall that the shed is secured by Steel Gates and padlocks; we thought that our security measures were adequate to
say the least. However, the thieves obviously used heavy bolt cutters and, from CCTV images that we have, were only present at the ground (in the early hours of
Monday 21 April) for a relatively short period ot time. We are currently working with the Police and Press in an attempt to try to retrieve the position/machinery.
THREE pieces of Machinery were stolen. All three were either purchased or upgraded during the close season at a cost of approx £8K. The items were:
1. Massport (20") mulitcut wicket mower complete with grass box (brand new in March this year)
2. Webb (30/36") Square mower complete with Grass Box and detachable rear seat (Reconditioned during the Winter),
3. Powerroller ENGINE (Stripped from roller on site). Roller purchased this year.....Engine brand new.
The reason I am sending details to Clubs is two-fold
a) To ask Clubs if they are approached about buying such machinery to contact either myself or the Police. (These are specialist machines suitable only for Cricket/Bowls etc)|
b) To alert Clubs to the prevalence of such thefts. We know from the Police that other organisations have had such machinery stolen. The modus operandi suggests a very professional job. Clubs are advised to be on the alert.
Thank you.
