Final day of the season |
Its the last weekend of the Northern League season and either Barrow or Leyland will be crowned Northern League Champions for 2013.
Only two points seperate both sides with Barrow currently in 1st position, with Leyland just behind in 2nd place.
Here is what could happen on the final day
1. Barrow win by 15 pointsthe team from Ernest Pass will be League Champions, and even if Leyland won their game it wouldn't matter as Barrow would be out of sight.
2. Barrow win by 12 points, Leyland would then have to win by 15 points to win the league, if that happened Leyland would get over the line by a solitary point.
3. Leyland win by 15 points Barrow would have to win by 15 to be crowned winners otherwise David Makinson's team will claim glory.
4. In the case of both being involved in drawn games Leyland after gain 3 points more the Barrow to win the league
5 If it rains and both Barrow and Leyland's games are abandoned then Barrow will win the league by two points.
In doing this preview their are many other different things that could happen, if I have missed any out please do let me know
For either side to be crowned League Champions they first have to overcome two difficult matches, with Barrow facing Blackpool at Stanley Park, whilst Leyland make the trip to play Darwen at Birch Hall.
With the battle at the top looking close, their its still all to play for as all other league teams face interesting matches.
Netherfield actually play twice, with them hosting Preston on Saturday before closing their season at home to The Lancashire Colts on Sunday. Netherfield languish in 10th position and need to win if they are to finish in a respectable position. With Colin Ackermann now back in South Africa, Chris Williams will deputise on Saturday as Sub Professional, before Salya Salman (The Carlisle Professional), deputises in the Sunday game.
Lancaster have had their best season for a long time as they look to end 2013 in style with a home game against St Annes.
Resurgent Kendal travel to an improving Morecambe team that have had an upturn in form over the past few weeks. Brad Moses deputising as Sub Professional for Kendal.
Improving Chorley entertain Fleetwood at Windsor Park, Fleetwood's form has gone off over the past few weeks as they play their last game as defending League Champions
DIVISION TWO
it's a more simple story for Division Two, Morecambe just need two points to be crowned champions, a win, or a rain affected draw would do it. That said if they lost and failed to pick up next to no points, Barrow would need a 15 pointer to win. That said Morecambe are well and truly in the driving seat going into the last day.
Morecambe travelling to Kendal, with Barrow hosting Blackpool
Please note the Umpires appointed may be changed,
any amendment will be be made at 7-30pm on Friday
