Lancashire League win Lookers Inter-league Twenty/20 Tournament
The Lancashire League has won the inaugural Lookers Twenty/20 Competition held at Nelson on Thursday 25th July.
Skipper Ockert Erasmus hit an unbeaten 51 to lead his team to an 8 wicket win over the Northern League in the final after the Lancashire League had beaten the Ribblesdale League by 6 wickets in the second semi final.
Erasmus hit three sixes and a four in an unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 82 with Simon Hanson who hit five fours in an unbeaten 27. Hassan Fazal had earlier taken 4-27 to restrict the Northern League to 114-9. Ben Simm top scored with 27.
Minhaj Bhada was the star of the semi final win over the Ribblesdale League, hitting an unbeaten 63, including nine fours as the Lancashire League chased down their opponents 131-8 with seven balls to spare. Neil Thompson also hit an unbeaten 25 in a 58 run 5th wicket stand with Bhada. Ben Heap made 23 out of an opening stand of 41 with the East Lancs man and then Erasmus added 29 with his club team-mate before three wickets fell for the addition of four runs. Heap took 2-25 and Thompson 2-19 with former Enfield player Liam Bedford making 63 for the Ribblesdale League.
In the first semi final St Annes professional Toby Bulcock hit 62 in the Northern League's 148-6. They then bowled the Palace Shield out for 129.
