Lancaster Cricket Club
Captain: Ben Simm, Professional: Yannisar Kahn, Last Season Finished 10th
Lancaster Cricket Club go into the new season looking to build on what was a positive end to Season 2012.
The form of the team was revitalised after Ben Simm took the reigns as Captain midway through last season.
Key league wins over teams such as Morecambe, Kendal and Blackpool, showed their improvement, as well as reaching Twenty-20 Finals day, beating Netherfield in the semi finals was another sign of improvement,
For season 2013, Lancaster have signed up Pakistani All Rounder Yannisar Kahn as the New Pro, as well as announcing that Ben Simm will remain Captain for the new campaign.
The club have also bolstered their line up, by signing a young fast bowler in Matt White as well as appointing a Club Coach in Andrew Fletcher who rejoins the club.
Charlie Swarbrick and Jamie Heywood will also be playing a full season, after Swarbrick returns following injury and Heywood gets the season with the club after rejoining the Lune Road outfit midway through last season from Kendal. It is also hoped that Iain Burstow will be back playing for the team.
Captains View:
"We will go into the season hoping we can challenge for the title, especially after the second half of last season, but I am realistic to know that this will be very hard for us to do from where we have finished in previous seasons. Signing someone of Jani's class does give us hope though.
Player wise we will hopefully have Charlie Swarbrick for the full season after his knee troubles have kept him from playing any rugby which is a shame for the lad as I know there were a lot of top clubs waiting to sign him. But it is great news that we will have him opening the batting for us.
Also we will have Jamie Heywood for the full year and hopefully he can score a bucket load or runs....he is netting an awful lot and hopefully will come on after his first full year after his accident.
We have also signed a decent young fast bowler Matt White to add to our already decent attack.
Hopefully he can push Liam Moffat and Iain Perrieman and Jani for the opening spots. We hope to have Burstow back playing this season.
There were a lot of guys playing their first full seasons in the NL and they should come on for that experience.
We have also added a club coach - Andrew Fletcher who rejoins the club. He has already been working in nets with everyone.
Pre season has been pretty much perfect except for me breaking my toe in the first nets off a brutal inswinging 50 mph yorker from Lee Sparks so I am out for 3 weeks.
The seconds will be stronger this year and there is real competition for places among both teams. Luckily I am Captain so have to be picked."
