Terry Hunte closing in on a milestone |
The Northern League resumes this weekend, as the battle for the top remains wide open.
Undoubtedly the game of the weekend is at Ernest Pass where league leaders Barrow host second placed Leyland. Only a point seperates both sides, where a result for either side could prove decisive in their quest for League honours.
Leyland have really come into form, whilst Barrow have had an indifferent spell over the past few weeks. This will be the first time both teams have played each other this season as the fixture was rained off earlier in the campaign
In the other games, Lancaster travel to defending League Champions Fleetwood in another pivotal game. Both sides need the win to stay in touch with the top 2. Fleetwood have to bounce back from their defeats at Darwen and in the Readers Cup at Blackpool last Sunday. Lancaster are in red hot form at the moment following wins over Netherfield and Blackpool.
In the other games, Terry Hunte is closing in on a milestone for Kendal as they host Darwen at Shap Road. Hunte is just 91 runs short of reaching 20,000. To date Hunte has scored 19.909 runs in the Northern Cricket League and remains the all time leading run scorer. The Shap Road encounter will also see Adil Raza deputising as Professional for the hosts.
For the rest of he teams, their is still plenty to play for, as Blackpool host Netherfield, St Annes host Morecambe and Preston entertain Chorley
On Sunday St Annes host the Lancashire Colts in the league
In Division Two the Leyland fourth play Barrow who are top this match and this could have a big say on who goes on to win the league.
Second placed St Annes who are only 5 points behind the leaders travel to third placed Morecambe. This is another match which could effect the outcome of the League title.
Darwen are still in the title hunt and entertain Kendal. The remaining fixtures are Lancaster v Fleetwood, Chorley entertain Preston and Netherfield host Blackpool
