DIVISION ONE
Its a busy weekend of League and Cup action in The Northern Cricket League, as the battle at the top and bottom end of the division intensifies.
This weekend promises to be another scorcher as Barrow, Leyland,Fleetwood and Lancaster continue to fight it out for the right to be crowned Northern League Division One Champions
Barrow are clinging on at the top, and will be keen to bounce back from the Morecambe home defeat as they travel to play a Chorley side who have struggled in the League yet done well in the National Knockout
Leyland who sit 2nd and just 6 points behind Barrow host Netherfield. Netherfield from winning the Twenty-20 suffered a defeat to Lancaster last weekend. Leyland Professional Luis Reece set to play after hitting form for Lancashire.
Fleetwood are in touching distance of top spot, they travel to play a struggling Darwen team. Mat Clarks team keep winning, and will be in good form especially after their 9 run win at Kendal in The Readers Cup last weekend.
Darwen have struggled in the league, but will still pose a problem for the League Champions.
Ben Simm's Lancaster have an outside chance of league success as they host an inconsistent Blackpool at Lune Road. Lancaster bounced back from their narrow defeat to Leyland with a comfortable win at Netherfield. Ben Simm, Professional Jannisar Kahn and Danny Welbourne hitting good form in last weekends win.
Blackpool are hit and miss at the moment and will rely on the experience of Richard Gleeson and skipper Paul Danson.
In the other games, Kendal entertain St Annes, with former Pakistan Under 19 fast bowler Adil Raza deputising as Sub Professional for the hosts.
Morecambe now captained by Mark Woodhead will be keen to build on their shock win at Barrow when they host Preston who are finding this season a struggle.
*It's also the Quarter finals of The Readers Cup this Sunday, as Netherfield host Preston, Barrow travel to Chorley again after playing their in the league, Leyland entertain The Lancashire Colts and Blackpool host Fleetwood.
DIVISION TWO
The race for The Division Two crown is even tighter, as up to five teams can still win the league.
Only two points seperate Barrow and St Annes with Leyland, Morecambe and Darwen are also closing in.
This Saturday sees Barrow host Chorley, with St Annes entertaining Kendal. League Champions Leyland make the trip to play Netherfield, with Morecambe travelling to Preston and Darwen travelling to Fleetwood.
In the other game Blackpool host Lancaster
The Division Two Readers Cup Quarter finals also gets underway on Sunday, with Fleetwood hosting Blackpool,Morecambe entertaining Leyland and Preston playing Darwen. Barrow v Chorley hope to play on the 28th
