Northern Premier Cricket League Preview for 4th May
Alex Doolan arrives for Kendal |
The Northern Cricket League enters into it's third wekeend, and after some surprises in the opening 2 weekends, there is plenty more excitement and drama promised in what is going to be a very competitive season.
League Champions Fleetwood have got off to the worst possible start losing their opening two games, the defeat at Preston was a shock, they travel to play St Annes at Vernon Road.
Fleetwood Professional Ian Holland has impressed so far, as Fleetwood look to bounce back, St Annes have had an indifferent start with a losing draw to Netherfield, followed by a defeat at Blackpool. A potentially very pivotal game for both teams.
In the other games, league leaders Barrow travel to Morecambe, Barrow have won all 3 games, picking up maximum points in their weekend double header with victory over Kendal and Lancashire Colts. They have had to do this without a full time professional. However they are now waiting for the visa to clear for Australian Jonathan Wells, In the mean time they will be using a sub pro for the game, a name still to be confirmed.
Morecambe will be in good spirits after their win at Chorley as well as the performance of professional Vishal Tripahti.
At Shap Road, Kendal entertain Preston, Kendal have not got off to the best start losing both games, I am not sure when Alex Doolan arrives to the club, watch this space. Preston travel to Kendal on the back of their huge win over Fleetwood last Saturday.
Lancaster play Netherfield and await the arrival of Jannisar Kahn, they too are looking for a sub pro for this weekend. Netherfield will be keen to build on their win over Darwen, The Netherfield team remains unchanged with Scott Clement, Craig Walmsley and Ryan Wilson all playing.
Darwen host Blackpool, Alan Kruger should arrive this Thursday, Darwen are keen to bounce back from a slow start to the campaign.
