St Annes CC honour Brian Standing
Last night Wednesday 13th November St Annes CC held a dinner to honour their President Brian Standing for 50 years service to St Annes CC.
Brian joined the club in 1963 and played his last match in 1988, he took 596 Northern League Division 1 wickets and 202 in Division 2. In 1970 he had the best bowling figures for that season with 8-26.
In 1989 Brian became the St Annes League Representstive until 2006 when he was made President of the Northern League, an office he still holds today
Brian has been St Annes CC president since 1996
Invitations were sent to all the clubs and around 70 people sat down to a very enjoyable meal followed by short speeches from the club Chairman John Cotton, former professional Paul Rocca and former St Annes, Lancashire and England cricketer Andrew Flintoff.
