Preview of Weekend 8th and 9th September 2012

Busy weekend in The Northern League

The Northern Cricket League season enters into it's second to last weekend of the season, and as yet the destination of the league title remains unclear.

Whilst Barrow have the weekend off, both Fleetwood and Kendal have the chance to close in at the top in a crucial weekend of Northern League action.

DIVISON 1

Chris Miller's Kendal could go second in the league when they host an improving Lancaster team at Shap Road. Kendal have all the momentum at the moment, especially after their Readers Cup success over Fleetwood.

In going to the Preview their is no news as who is going to Sub pro for Kendal, for this weekends game.

Lancaster lost heavily at St Annes and will be looking to pull off a shock victory, with both Ben Simm and Jamie Heywood returning to play against their former team

Fleetwood could go top with a win over Morecambe in a game which is to be played at Lancaster Cricket Club's Lune Road on Sunday

Mat Clark's team missed out in The Readers Cup Final last weekend, and will be looking to bounce back

Morecambe haven not played a game for ages due to the weather and the state of their Woodhill Lane pitch.

In the other of the games,Darwen play host to Netherfield, with Mitchell Claydon sub pro'ing for The Cumbrian team

Blackpool entertain Carnforth,Leyland play St Annes and Preston host Chorley.

On Sunday Preston play host to The Lancashire Colts, with the massive game for Fleetwood v Morecambe at Lune Road.

Barrow are also in action as they play Workington in The Cumbria Cup Final.

DIVISION TWO

Leyland have the chance to extend their lead at the top as they travel to St Annes, whilst Barrow have the weekend off.

In the other games, Chorley host Preston, Lancaster play Kendal, Netherfield entertain Darwen, whilst Carnforth host Blackpool.

Fleetwood seconds play on Sunday where they will face Morecambe at St Annes Vernon Road Ground.
