Atiq on top form in draw with Chorley |
Opening batsman Atiq Uz Zaman has announced that he will be leaving St Annes at the end of the season, to join Westhoughton Cricket Club for season 2013
Atiq has been one of the all time top batsmen in The Northern League, where he has scored a total of 4762 runs, with 14 centuries and 26 half centuries to his name.
Zaman said of his decision"
"I thought five years is enough to be one place. I live in Bolton and have to drive everyday.
I needed a new challenge plus play locally and spend more time with my family. I have had a fantastic seven years in the NPL.
I would like to thanks St Annes CC for the support and belief.
I would like to thank all teams, umpires, newspapers and all followers for supporting and encouraging me during my time. I think the NPL standard is very good and I couldn't find better any where.
However, everyone have to move on one day and I think it's the right time. Shame St Annes position is not good as it had to be when I leave but we won two league titles in my time which were amazing achievements.
I am going to miss the NPL. I would also like to thank Mr Norman Poole who gave me good support and also the rest of the league members.
I would also like to thank the web people who highlighted my news on the league website really well.
I am sad but looking forward to share my experience with Westhoughton CC".
