THE LEWIS TOMLINSON INTERVIEW

Dhar Enjoying Role At Chorley

Gaurav Dhar at the crease

Gaurav Dhar was an ametuer at Windsor Park for many years but last year took on the role of professional at Chorley and he is really enjoying the role.

When I asked Dhar what it is like to be pro for his home town club he said:

"Its great being the pro for Chorley, I have played at the club since I was 7. All my junior cricket was played with most of the current 1st team. From u11 through to the 1st's, and some of my best mates play at the club."

Most people will think the pressure must not be the same when been professional at a club were you know everyone but when asked Dhar about that he replied:

"You may think its easier being the professional at a club where everyone knows you, but it carries its own pressures. In such that even if I wasn't the pro at Chorley I'd want them to be doing well, and be checking results. My family are still part of the club and my brother plays in the u11s team. The people that used to coach me as a junior are heavily involved in the club and even friends I went to school with so I don't want to disappoint them. The whole club knows when we win it means as much to me as it does to them!"

Last year Chorley had an excellent season finishing 3rd and Gaurav Dhar himself took 72 wickets and scored 305 runs.

When I Dhar what he is hoping for this campaign he said:

"My ambition this year is to help the club bring some silverware home. I think we surprised a lot of people last year with no big name players, but it was always there with the talent we have in the squad, Last season players realised that talent and performed consistently, and I'll be looking at them going even better this year.

Players like Will Moulton, Kieran McCullagh and Jack Bentham played a big part last season. Along with the more experienced (but still young) heads of Andy Holdsworth, Jack Catterall, Billy Smith and the Critchley brothers. Everyone at the club is eagerly awaiting the start of the season with a really strong sense of doing very well this year."

Chorley kick off the season at home to Fleetwood on Saturday the 14th of April.
