Cobus Pienaars top scoring 97 and 5-27 in vein as Netherfield bow out

Northern Cricket League Division 1:

Fleetwood move up to 2nd in The Northern Cricket League following a comfortable 8 wicket home win over the Lancashire Colt's

The Colt's being put in by the hosts posted 131-8, Rob Jones with the main runs as he made 67 off 104.

Fleetwood did well to restrict The Colt's , thanks to good bowling by Anthony Ellison (2-33), Naveed Yousaf (1-22), Adam Parker (1-34) and Shaun Leibisch (1-34).

In reply Fleetwood knocked the runs off in 31.2 overs, Naveed Yousaf with an unbeaten 73 off 86 as the hosts reached 132-2.

Readers Cup First Round:

A top scoring 97 off 113 and 5-27 by Professional Cobus Pienaar wasn't enough as Netherfield lost by 1 wicket to Leyland in The Readers Cup.

Pienaar was in scintilating form as he led the hosts recovery after struggling on 31-3 following Leylands decision to put Netherfield in. Pienaar who scored his 97 off 113, hit 10 fours and 1 six in the process

Chris Parry also sustained an injury in the first innings as the cricket ball hit him near his eye as he retired hurt on 2. Young Chesney Walling came in as sub fielder for the second innings

Netherfield reached 182-7 off 40, with Pienaar falling 3 short of his century

Leyland's Luis Reece the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-31, Liam hurt also returned with figures of 2-26. Brett Pelser and David Makinson grabbed 1 wicket each

The visitors were pushed all the way in their reply as Netherfield were on top as Leyland were skittled down to 60-5.

However the game breaker was the performance of 15 year old Danny Lamb batting at number 5 as he single handedly swung the game in the visitors favour with an unbeaten knock of 75 off 69 balls.

Netherfield did have Leyland 9 wickets down going into the last over however Danny Lamb hit a boundary to seal victory for the visitors.

As well as Pienaars 5-27, Shane Dixon (2-28) and Marc Brown (2-39) also impressed

National Knock Out Group Final:
Blackpool v Chorley

Chorley booked their place in the last 16 of The National Knockout Cup Competition following a 7 wicket win over Blackpool.

Blackpool all out for 90 in 39 overs,with Billy Smith (3-16), Chris Harty (2-30), Iain Critchley (2-14), Will Moulton 1-9, and Keiran Mc Cullogh (1-5).

Chorley reaching 94-3 in 37 overs, Jack Bentham unbeaten in 29 off 104, with Blackpool's Alex Smith the main bowler with (2-28)
