Coates Wants Title
Adam Coates in action |
Adam Coates is looking forward to the start of his second season with Leyland after what can be seen as a very successful first season at Fox Lane. Coates scored 557 runs at an average of 27 and also took 12 catches and 8 stumping's.
When I asked Adam how he settled in at Leyland he said:
"I settled in really quickly, it was a very different experience not knowing anyone having played in the Bolton League for so long, but Leyland is a fantastic club and right from the start the players and supporters made me and my family extremely welcome at the club.
The team spirit throughout the senior teams is undoubtedly playing a major part in the teams being so successful recently. Led from the front in the first team by Dave Makinson and Ian Farrington in the seconds".
Coates scored his highest score of the season at home to Fleetwood were he scored 100 and had a partnership of 150 with Leyland pro Brett Pelser.
Adam has already set targets for himself and the club and he said:
"700 runs and 30 victims is the standard I expect from myself and I want that to contribute to Leyland winning the Northern League and retaining the Readers Cup.
It would also be great to see some more of the young talented cricketers at Leyland continue their progress as they should be trying to emulate the likes of Dave, Brett and Luis as Leyland first team cricketers who have played or are playing first class cricket, And not getting injured would be good this year!"
Adam Coates first game of the campaign will be at home to Barrow on the 14th April.
