Colts begin their season with double date

Fleetwood revisited for Swift's men

Darwen look to build on fine start

Captain Jason Swift leads the Colts side off the field at Preston last season

Lancashire Colts mark their second season in the Furness Building Society Northern Premier Cricket League (incorporating Readers Cricket Balls) with two games over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Captained by Jason Swift the Colts open their campaign at Broadwater on Sunday against Fleetwood before visiting Champions Leyland on Monday. The Colts will play each side in the league once over the season with all points earned counting in the league tables.

Last season their first match in the league was at Broadwater and the Colts won by nine wickets after bowling out the home side for 104. Their game at Fox Lane was one of the best of the season, Leyland prevailing by two wickets chasing 172 in an exciting finish.
The Colts eventually won three and lost seven of their 13 games in their inaugural season.

On Saturday Netherfield visit Lancaster with veteran leg-spinner Marc Hadwin already in form. The former Cumberland County player, who captured his 500th Division One wicket last year took six more in the 22 runs victory over Preston.
