Outstanding Services Award inaugurated
Darwen's Alex Davies batting in the SET Trophy Final at Liverpool
|
Three new awards will add to the excitement at the League's presentation dinner to be held at Leyland Golf Club on Friday 7 October 2011.
Leyland Second Eleven Captain Ian Farrington has kindly sponsored the Young Player of the Year Awards for both Divisions One and Two
The awards are open to cricketers who were aged 18 and under at the start of the 2011 season.
Darwen's wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Davies will be a leading contender for the D1 award; he was a member of the England under-19s squad, and a regular member of the Lancashire Second XI squad which was beaten in the final of the Second Eleven Trophy Final at Liverpool by Notts. Having made his List A debut for Lancashire in the CB40 fixture against Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay, Davies hit 669 runs at 39 for Darwen while his father Christian made the Division Two Dream Team.
Barrow's Liam Livingstone batting for Lancashire Seconds
|
Davies faces competition from Barrow all-rounder Liam Livingstone who was also a regular member of the Lancashire Second Eleven side in 2011 and who featured prominently for Cumberland in their path to the semi-finals of the MCCA Trophy and in their unbeaten Championship season. Livingstone hit 543 runs at 32 and took 24 wickets at 25 for Barrow in 2011
.
Henry Thompson, the Leyland opener, also was a member of the Lancashire Academy squad and hit his maiden Northern League hundred while averaging 28 for the league runners-up.
