Leyland stay in contention for Finals Day

Leyland kept alive their hopes of qualifying for Finals Day in the Jamie Heywood Twenty20 Cup sponsored by Latham Baxendale by beating Darwen at Birch Hall.
Darwen have now finished their games in South 2 Group and have ten points from six games after suffering their first defeat of the campaign in this competition.
Leyland have six points from four games and if they beat Preston and Chorley next week will tie with Darwen; the group will then be decided on run rate.
Leyland are at home to Preston on Tuesday and travel to Chorley on Friday.
Leyland made 129/7 in their 20 overs, James Rounding making 45 off 26 balls with three fours and two sixes, Zimmy Khan taking 3/19. Darwen were bowled out for 94 in reply, David Fisher taking five wickets for 36. Peter Cummings took three wickets for six runs from his four overs, including that of Darwen pro Zimmy
Khan for a golden duck.
Meanwhile, Blackpool earned their fourth win in as many games by defeating St Annes at Vernon Road. Paul Danson's side had already qualified for Finals Day. In a match reduced to ten overs Blackpool made 90/3; Andy Furniss, back from a thumb injury hitting an unbeaten 38 off 23 balls with six fours.
St Annes were restricted to 54/8 in reply; Matthew Middlehurst, Furniss and Craig Brown each taking two wickets.
The derby game at Lune Road was abandoned and will be replayed. Morecambe made 105/7 off 20 overs, Ikram Ullah hitting an unbeaten 47; Lancaster were 23/0 off six overs in reply when the weather closed in
