League Balls for 2011
Neil Pullen from Readers Cricket Balls
introduces the Readers Supreme County Crown, the official
cricket ball for the League in 2011:
It is with great pleasure and honour that for
2011 Readers will once again provide the Northern Cricket
League with their cricket balls for league and cup matches.
Over the years Readers have always strived to provide the
right ball that provides a fair battle between bat and
ball.
Over the last few years the cricket bat seems to
have been winning the battle on a regular basis. Only one
company has probably stood out as the bowlers favourite, and
it's fair to say this is not Readers With this in mind I was
handed the role of Cricket Ball Manager for Readers in October
2008 and since my appointment have tried to rectify this
belief.
Towards the end of the 2009 season I asked the
Northern League clubs to use my new creation and after a
little arm bending on my behalf by Dave Pick, the clubs
agreed.
From the feedback received the new Supreme
County Crown with its new Reader "High Density" core was a
success and indeed an improvement on the previous Sovereign.
This was the news we at Readers had wanted and we are also
happy that after years of bowing to our Australian influences
the Reader cricket ball once again solely uses high quality
English leather, which has also been a major contributor to
the vast improvements we have made in such a short space of
time.
However, the proof was in the eating and the
2010 season showed consistently good reports, confirming my
belief that the League will benefit and further improve when
using the new Supreme County Crown, which will again be in use
in 2011.
It was a pleasure to represent the company at
the Readers Cup Final and the league's annual presentation
dinner and I look forward to attending both events in
2011.
