Leyland beat local rivals Chorley by 24 runs in the Jamie Heywood Twenty20 Cup (South Two Group) sponsored by Latham Baxendale on a beautiful summer's evening at Fox Lane.
A good-sized crowd saw a highly competitive and entertaining encounter which was only decided in the closing stages as Leyland's bowlers took command.
After winning the toss and electing to bat Leyland made 135/3; T20 Captain and pro Brett Pelser and James Rounding sharing an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 75 to give the innings late momentum.
