Every cricket club is reliant upon the goodwill
of supporters, members and friends who combine to perform the
necessary tasks that maintain the ground and club house in
good order come wind, rain, hail, shine and frost.
Barrow CC is fortunate to have so many people
who happily give their time and labour to ensure that cricket
prospers at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground.
A warm welcome is always extended to the
visitor, the cricket is invariably of top quality, the ground
looks an absolute picture and the club house is warm and
hospitable with one of the best cricket teas on the
circuit.

Barrow Cricket Club was formed in 1856 and has
been valued members of the Northern League since joining in
2004.
In 2010 Barrow finished in their highest ever
position in the League finishing runners-up to champions
Leyland. Their ground is also a regular venue for Cumberland's
Minor Counties Championship campaigns.
Jonathan Miles, Greg Platten, Chris D'Leny,
Daryl Wearing and Graham Dawson are all Barrow players who
have represented Cumberland regularly in the Minor Counties
Championship while teenaged all-rounder Liam Livingstone is a
member of the Lancashire Academy squad.

For 2011 D'Leny assumes the captaincy after
Wearing stands down due to family commitments while Ian
Allington takes over as Second XI captain.
Every year the club recognises the help and
assistance given by its core of volunteer helpers by arranging
a special function.
This week's event, held at the newly refurbished
club house with its magnificent newly-laid drive and pathway
was a terrific event and was captured by the lens and words of
blogger extraordinaire Ian Allington.

Club chairman Ray Mowat, himself a former
Cumberland player and secretary Ken Robinson presided over an
afternoon of conviviality and fellowship.
And there to capture the moment was ace snapper
Allington who in the throes of completing his first book, a
magnificent pictorial guide to the walks, scenery and
expeditions within an hour's drive of his Furness home.
For club helpers everywhere, Ian's blog, to be
