Former Fleetwood batsman Chesney Hughes scored his maiden first-class century in the County Championship game at the County Ground Derby for Derbyshire against Gloucestershire. Hughes, who joined the staff at Derby on a two year contract after trials in the Second XI last season was run out for 118 in Derbyshire's first innings.

Meanwhile five Northern League cricketers represented Cumberland in their final MCCA Trophy game of the season at Netherfield last Sunday. Barrow's Jonathan Miles and Graham Dawson, Kendal's Chris Miller, Morecambe's Ikram Ullah and Adam Cowperthwaite of Carnforth were all in the Cumberland side. Cheshire won a thrilling, high scoring game in the last over by two wickets after over 650 runs were scored in the day:
