payable to Morecambe Cricket Club. The book is also available
from the club during opening hours and on match-days while
John is in the process of organising an official launch when
it is hoped many current and former Morecambe players will
attend.
Former Morecambe club professional Ashwell
Prince, the current South African Test star has kindly written
the foreword. Prince writes fondly of his time at Woodhill
Lane.
"The two years spent at the club has most
certainly stood me in good stead for what was to follow,"
Prince writes. "As a young professional you very soon become
aware of the pressure on you as you are the only paid player
in the team and people obviously expect more.
"This teaches one responsibility as you soon
learn that you have to find a way to deal with these
pressures. When things are not going that well on the field,
it can be very lonely when you are a long way away from home
in a foreign country, far away from friends and family and
support structures that you would normally have at home.
I would like to thank all the people who have
helped me have a wonderful and unforgettable two years at the
club."
