Weather threat to penultimate weekend
Barrow pro Pasan Wanasinghe- a fine season |
St Annes take an eight point lead over Preston into the penultimate weekend of fixtures. Andy Kellett's side welcome Fleetwood to Vernon Road while Preston are at home to a resurgent Barrow side challenging for a Lancashire Cup place.
But after a week of dreadfully wet weather the title challengers will be hoping that the elements permit the destination of the championship be decided on the field.
Morecambe's scheduled home game against Kendal was cancelled after a Friday 5pm pitch inspection due to severe waterlogging.
On Sunday another attempt will be made to play the Furness Building Society Cup Final at Parkside Road.
A further reserve day has been set up on Sunday 13 September. If no play is possible even then further attempts will be made to stage the game on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September.
The same applies to the Division Two final at Fox Lane where Leyland are due to entertain Chorley.
Lancaster wrapped up the division two title last weekend having been the outstanding side in Second XI cricket all season in contrast to their First XI who are bottom of the table.

Chesney Hughes plays in Fleetwood's final game of the season on Saturday having scored 671 runs in his first season in the league. Preston's Adam Parker and Lancaster's Tim Barry have also topped 600 runs.
