Darwen CC will be hoping that their new professional for 2010 will serve up some tasty treats for the Birch Hall faithful.
The highly-rated Pakistan all rounder Mohammad Zaman Khan is a restaurateur in the Oldham area as well as an accomplished cricket professional.
Nicknamed 'Zimmy' he assisted Darwen as sub professional in three games in 2009, and negotiations between club and player began after he played in the final game of the season against St Annes.
Zaman Khan, right-handed batsman and off-break bowler will replace South African David Wiese at Birch Hall.
The 27-year-old who hails from Faisalabad topped the Bradford League averages in 2008, scoring 698 runs for Cleckheaton at an average of 58.17.
After playing for Cleckheaton for two seasons he moved to Crompton in the Central Lancashire League and in 2009 scored 1,109 runs at an average of 52.81 with a highest score of 154 not out against Clifton and captured 62 wickets at 18.15.
He has previously played as a professional for Littleborough in the CLL in 2005 and 2006.
Also an accomplished wicket-keeper Zaman Khan has hit four first-class centuries but has not played first-class cricket since the 2004-05 season.
Being based locally Darwen's new professional is expected to join up with his new teammates for pre-season training and be available for the entire 2010 season.
