St Annes aim to continue winning start
Netherfield CC 2009 |
There is a double programme of fixtures in the Furness Building Society Northern Premier Cricket League (incorporating 3D Sports) at the first Bank Holiday weekend. With many teams also in action on Sunday in the first round of the National Knock-out competition players face a busy time of things.
On Saturday St Annes aim to continue their winning start to the season when they visit Ernest Pass to play Barrow. St Annes' Sri Lankan professional Dinuka Hettiarchchi took four wickets on his club debut in the win over Carnforth but Barrow's professional Pasan Wanasinghe has not yet arrived.
Luis Reece makes a quick return to his former club Blackpool as Leyland visit Stanley Park on Saturday. Ameer Khan has resumed his professional duties at Fox Lane but there is no confirmation over the arrival of Blackpool pro Saj Weerakoon.
Opening day centurian Robert Parker and spinner Warren Quinn return for Carnforth at home to Preston, who beat Netherfield last Saturday. All rounder Andy Roberts impressed on his Preston debut and Saj Patel and Adam Parker have already found early season batting form.

Kendal visit Windsor Park to play Chorley with both sides still awaiting the arrival of their professionals.
Morecambe will again have the services of sub-pro Kashif Shaji for their visit to Fleetwood and are set to announce the signing of a new professional shortly.
Intended paid man Wayne Parnell has signed a six-week contract with Kent and as the young South African will also be playing in the world T20 tournament his availability is severely restricted.
Netherfield pro Glen Batticciotto made a first ball duck but took five wickets on his club debut last Saturday as the defending champions lost at Preston. But the highly-rated Queensland List A all-rounder hit a superb undefeated 104 as deputy pro for Nelson in the Lancashire League on Sunday to overcome Saturday's disappointment.
Netherfield host Lancaster without the injured Ben Haddrick and the unavailable Marc Hadwin and there is a fitness doubt over opening bowler Scott Clement. Michael Stevens returned to the Lancaster side after university commitments to help Tim Barry's side defeat Chorley at Lune Road last Saturday.
Team news to follow when available.
