Carnforth CC have today (Monday) confirmed that professional Gareth Pedder has re-signed as the club professional for 2010.
Pedder joined the club as professional in 2009 after a long junior and senior career at Morecambe CC, helping the Woodhill Lane club achieve Furness Building Society Cup success in 2008.

An aggressive right-handed middle-order batsman, right arm seam bowler and superb all-round fielder, Pedder has steadily made his mark on the field in 2009.
Last Sunday he took four for 35, including bowling professional David Wiese, as Carnforth defeated Darwen by nine wickets after bowling out the home side for 67. Pedder hit his highest score of the season, 63, as his side defeated then leaders Chorley at Windsor Park.

In another move, Carnforth CC have confirmed that Mark Holmes has agreed to resume as club chairman after stepping down before the start of the season due to family reasons.
Mr Holmes, a well respected figure at the club, was instrumental in bringing Pedder to the club as successor to the 2008 professional, South African Ryan Bailey.

Everyone at the club is really impressed with the work Gareth has done this season and it was a pleasure to ask him to sign again for 2010, said Mr Holmes.
I feel Gareth has had a really positive impact on the club and that he will continue to do so. With his attitude to our club and to the game, he has progressed from being a talented amateur player to now being a genuine league professional. In future years he will certainly cement his reputation and position as a professional cricketer.
Gareth has immersed himself into the club and spends up to five evenings a week coaching the young players as well as his commitments to the first team. He has impressed all the players at the club with his attitude, talent and commitment and is a model professional. He is respected throughout the club and has made a tremendous impression.

It is also good that Gareth's family have taken the trouble to integrate fully into the club. It is a pleasure to welcome them to the club on a regular basis. Gareth's performances on the field in recent weeks have demonstrated what I believed all along that he is a fine cricketer with a lot to offer and most importantly one who enjoys playing his cricket at Carnforth.

We have many promising young cricketers at Carnforth and a terrific team spirit throughout the club. Our out-cricket has been outstanding in many games and we just need more solidity in the batting department to make our mark in what is a very tough league.
We have a young team with some outstanding cricketers such as opening batsman and wicket-keeper Ryan Nelson, left arm spinner Warren Quinn and have an excellent captain in Darren Moore. With Gareth re-signing we now have stability to plan ahead to ensure the club thrives in the future.

Pedder becomes the second Northern League professional to commit himself to a contract renewal for 2010.

Last weekend St Annes confirmed that their popular Sri Lankan professional Dinuka Hettiarachchi, the league's leading wicket-taker in 2009, had re-signed for another season.
