Super Mario at Lune Road
Mario Olivier will play at Lune Road in 2009 |
In 2009, the Furness Building Society Northern Premier Cricket League (in association with 3D Sports) will have two bowlers who have achieved the unusual feat of taking ten wickets in an innings.
Netherfield off-spinner Chris Miller took all ten Carnforth wickets at Lodge Quarry late last season as Netherfield closed in on the championship.
Now Miller will be joined by Mario W Olivier, the new Lancaster professional.
26-years-old Olivier who plays for Boland and Warriors in South African domestic cricket replaces Australian Trent Kelly as Lancaster's paid man after the Australian was forced to withdraw from his contract offer due to injury.
Pretoria born Olivier is a right-handed batsman and right arm medium fast bowler. He has played 36 first-class games and scored 421 runs at an average of 9.35 with a highest score of 51 in 53 innings. He has taken 97 wickets at an average of 32.51.
In December 2007 Olivier made headlines when he captured all ten Eagles wickets. Olivier recorded sensational figures of 10 for 65 in the SuperSport series in Bloemfontein.
