MOORE STARS DOWN UNDER

New Carnforth skipper a big hit in Oz

Carnforth skipper Darren 'Skippy' Moore- a big hit down under

We have received the following report from Australia where new Carnforth First XI captain Darren 'Skippy' Moore is currently playing while on an on overseas visit. Moore is combining his cricket career while working an on 8,000 acre sheep farm in the area. Moore is expected to return to Carnforth on 1 April and will captain his side for the first time in the season's opener against Fleetwood.

Kangaroo Flat CC v Broken Bail Country XI
A very hot and sunny day at The Roo's Pouch Oval saw an exciting debut for KF overseas player Darren "Skippy" Moore who plays his cricket in England for Carnforth CC in the ECB Northern Premier League.
KF lost the toss and were invited to bat by visiting captain Will Prince on a very odd looking grey coloured wicket.
Moore in his customary opening position seemed able to pinpoint the fielders with every shot. The pitch was playing tricks and with the score at 80-6 from 35 of the allotted 50 overs Moore was instructed to cut loose. He fired 3 sixes and 12 fours in an undefeated innings of 86 as KF closed their innings on 197 for 8 from 50 overs.

The Broken Bail Country XI innings was stifled by the KF opening bowlers Gotha and Windsor who kept a lid on things and saw the score reach 46 for 2 from 23 overs.
KF captain Henry Tudor then threw the ball to Moore in an attempt to prise out some wickets. Not usually known for his bowling Moore then bowled unchanged to return figures of 12-3-26-6 wrapping up the victory with Broken Bail being bowled out for 146 and earning KF a 51 run victory and 15 league points. When asked how he was going to celebrate the victory Moore said he was going to the bar but only for one pint!!
It's not clear quite what the joke was but it is thought that "one pint" may be a reference to a member of his club back in England.
