Ameer Khan to leave after four years

Ameer Khan in action for Leyland

Leyland CC are on the look-out for a new professional in 2010 after the cricket committee of the club decided not to re-engage Ameer Khan. Leyland captain David Makinson said: The decision not to re-engage Ameer for the 2010 season was taken after much discussion and deliberation. His first three years at the Leyland clubs saw him perform magnificently, taking over 170 wickets and scoring more than 2,400 runs. In each of those years he was one of the top two professionals in the League.

Unfortunately Ameer hasn't been quite as successful this year, not being helped by the poor form of his team mates as the First Eleven have failed to live up to expectations.
He is a proven match winner, both with his stylish, attacking batting and his aggressive, leg spin bowling. With him in the side you always feel that he is likely to pull something out of the hat to turn a game, as he has done many times.
I hope the change of clubs will be as successful for him as it was for the two previous Islamabad professionals we have had in Leyland, Stephen John and Atif Ashraf. Like Ameer, they too spent four years with Motors or Leyland and then moved to Chorley and Darwen and had great success.

We will all will miss playing with such a talented and entusiastic professional and I wish him all the best in the future. Any club wishing to engage Ameer Khan for 2010 is asked to contact Gary Hunt on 07737 102139.
