LEAGUE GAMES SATURDAY 23RD AUGUST DIVISION ONE
With five games to go leaders Blackpool (182pts) travel to Netherfield and Fleetwood over the Bank Holiday weekend. Second placed Kendal (171pts) play St Annes at home before the local derby at Parkside Road against Netherfield on Monday. Morecambe in third (165pts) travel to Carnforth and then host Lancaster. In-form Nettherfield have 159 pts and Leyland are fifth on 156 pts. With 15pts for a winning team batting first and 12pts for a win batting second the situation could easily change over the weekend. Chorley (147pts) have no game on Saturday while defending champions St Annes have 144 pts.
Netherfield pro Callum Ferguson has scored 1,150 league runs and with five games left has the Netherfield professional batting record and the league batting record in his sights. Pierre van Bruyn holds the former (1,159 in 2005), Kendal's Terry Hunte the latter (1,351 in 1994). Darwen's Gareth Cordingley needs 13 runs to complete 10,000 league runs. Carnforth pro Ryan Bailey plays his final game for the club on Saturday. Dalton's professional W Van Zyl deputises on Monday at Barrow.
