DIVISION ONE
BARROW v NETHERFIELD
Blackpool spokesperson Andy Griffiths reports:
Our 1st XI travel to Barrow with one enforced change from the side which beat Morecambe last weekend. Fitness and fielding coach Michael Moore is away at a wedding, and is replaced by 17 year old Jarred Bain, a promising young batsman and excellent fielder who has played at 1st XI level before (actually taking the wicket of the Netherfield professional last season, in a cup game I believe......!).
The top order will be looking to fire after a run of single figure scores in the victory against Morecambe last weekend, but with professional Saj Weerakoon and captain in fine form, and with the momentum of 7 league victories in 10 games, some excellent bowling performances and a excellent team spirit, it will surely only be a matter of time before all of our top order are in the runs.
1st XI - Saturday 21st June - Away vs Barrow, Meet BCC 10:00 - Danson (capt), Bain, Darlington, Gleeson, Hogarth (A), Hogarth (J), Outram, Reece, Smith (A), Smith (J) (w/k), Weerakoon (pro)
On Sunday, our 1st XI are involved in the group stages of the Northern League 20-20 competition, and will play St Annes and Preston in a round-robin format, to be staged at St Annes Cricket Club. Only one change is made to the side from Saturday, with Jarred Bain keeping his place and joined in the side by another 17 year old in the shape of all-rounder Matty Brown, who is also an excellent fielder and will add to the enthusiasm and dynamism of the side in the shorter form of the game. Jamie Hogarth makes way.
Pro Saj Weerakoon will be in the Blackpool side at Barrow |
The 20-20 competition will see captain Danson tinker with his batting and bowling options, in an effort to find the winning formula for this form of the game, at the same time as giving one or two of our lower order a chance to establish themselves and get some runs under their belt.
1st XI - Sunday 22nd June - Away vs St Annes and Preston in 20-20, Meet BCC 09:30 - Danson (capt), Bain, Brown (M), Darlington, Gleeson, Hogarth (A), Outram, Reece, Smith (A), Smith (J) (w/k), Weerakoon (pro).

Jon McMenemy has now gone travelling, so will not be available for the remainder of the season. Robin Adams is also unavailable for this weekend, so we welcome back Neil Lauderdale, who impressed in his first game for the 1st XI this season, two weeks ago but was unavailable for last weekend's draw at Chorley.
