The Northern Cricket League Review

Division 2 Round 10 This was second lot of games in two days but the results saw no change in the League positions. Fleetwood won at Carnforth, Fulwood & Broughton had a home win against Morecambe amd Euxton beat Penwortham

Barrow won at Whalley, Preston beat Lytham and Thornon Cleveleys defeated Great Eccleston.

DIVISION TWO

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 10

Carnforth v Fleetwood

Carnforth won the toss at Lodge Quarry and invited the visitors to bat first, Jeremy Davies and Declan Clerkin were the two openers, Declan Clerkin was the first one out caught behind by Lewis Spurr off James Park Johnson for 2 (10 balls), 22-1. Muhammed Hurraira was in at three and with Davies were steadily moving the score along, James Parkinson broke the partnership having Muhammed Hurraira caught by Tom Parkinson for 11 (28 balls)(2x4), 61-2.

Andy Drake was the new batsman and with Davies had moved the score to 95 when Jeremy Davies fell caught by James Parkinson off Jaco Beneke for 56 (88 balls)(10x4), 95-3. Harry McAleer joined Drake , Jaco Beneke struck once again with Harry McAleer stumped by Lewis Spurr for 14 (27 balls)(2x4), 127-4.

Tomas King was the next man in but three runs later was caught by Tom Parkinson off Alfie Hill for 2 (5 balls), 130-5. Charlie Clark came to the wicket but was soon out bowled by Alfie Hill for 6 (14 balls)(1x4), 144-6.

Woody Wilson replaced Clark but he did not fare any better caught by Alfie Hill off Jaco Beneke for 0 (3 balls), 147-7. Hassan Mughal was in next but quickly became wicket number four for Jaco Beneke bowled for 6 (7 balls)(1x4), 165-8.

Sherzai Wali was the incoming batsman but one run later was caught by Joel Frith off Alfie Hill for 0 (6 balls), 166-9. Matthew Siddall was Andy Drake's new partner and they were keeping the scoreboard ticking over, James Park Johnson returned to the attack and in his second over trapped Matthew Siddall lbw for 11 (19 balls)(2x4) as Fleetwood were bowled out for 188 in 49.2 overs with Andy Drake 55no (91 balls)(6x4).

The Carnforth bowling figures were Jaco Beneke took 4-40 from 15 overs, Alfie Hill 3-29 off 6, James Park Johnson 2-36 from 10.2, James Parkinson 1-22 off 8, Tom Parkinson 0-11 from 1 and Zack Dodds 0-39 off 9.

The hosts got off to a bad start losing both openers early, Joel Frith fell lbw to Declan Clerkin for 0 (6 balls), 5-1, Jaco Beneke came in at three but he lost Ryan Nelson bowled by Hassan Mughal for 3 (18 balls), 10-2.

James Park Johnson joined Beneke but he soon lost his partner Jaco Beneke caught by Jeremy Davies off Hassan Mughal for 14 (9 balls)(3x4), 21-3. Next in was Bradley Hoyle but four runs later James Park Johnson was caught by Sherzai Wali off Declan Clerkin for 1 (6 balls), 25-4.

The new batsman was Tom Parkinson and with Hoyle had nearly doubled the score when Bradley Hoyle was caught by Tomas King off Jeremy Davies for 10 (21 balls)(2x4), 49-5. Zack Dodds joined Parkinson but he became Jeremy Davies's next wicket bowled for 7 (18 balls)(1x6), 62-6.

Tom Parkinson had a new partner in Jack Huntington and with only six runs added Jeremy Davies took three wickets in an over, Jack Huntington went first caught behind by Harry McAleer for 5 (6 balls)(1x4), 68-7, incoming batsman Alfie Hill was caught by Muhammed Hurraira off his first ball, Lewis Spurr survied the hat trick ball but was bowled the following one for 0 (2 balls) to give Jeremy Davies his fifth wicket, 68-9.

James Parkinson came in at eleven but was run out by Harry McAleer for 5 (7 balls)(1x4) as Carnforth were bowled out for 73 in 23 overs, Tom Parkinson was 18no (48 balls)(3x4).

For Fleetwood Jeremy Davies took 5-7 from 5 overs, Declan Clerkin 2-21 off 5, Hassan Mughal 2-26 from 6, Sherzai Wali 0-6 off 2 and Matthew Siddall 0-12 from 5.

Euxton v Penwortham

Penwortham won the toss at Balshaw Park and put the hosts into bat, Josh Tolley and Max Harper got them off to a good start, Isaac Roberts broke their partnership having Josh Tolley caught by Matt Halliday for 15 (46 balls), 52-1. James Bone was the man coming in at three but he was soon out bowled by Nathan Walmsley for 6 (17 balls)(1x4), 65-2.

Ben Houghton joined Max Harper, Connor Brown was brought into the attack and he bowled Max Harper for 43 (90 balls)(6x4,1x6), 88-3. Josh Boyden was the new batsman and with Houghton were going well, Isaac Roberts broke the partnership having Ben Houghton caught by Nathan Walmsley for 25 (48 balls)(1x4,1x6), 132-4.

Nishan Peiris was next in, Charlie Parker was introduced into the attack and in his first over bowled Josh Boyden for 34 (43 balls)(4x4), 158-5. Jack Shovelton was the incoming batsman and was scoring over a run a ball going into the last five overs and was out caught by Nathan Patel off Charlie Parker for 19 (16 balls)(1x4,2x6),192-6.

Alfie Delve replaced Shovelton but he soon lost Nishan Peiris bowled by Connor Brown for 27 (26 balls), 196-7, Josh Marsden came in next but one run later was run out by Matt Halliday for 1 (2 balls), 197-8.

Alfie Delve had a new partner in Joseph Barker and they saw Euxton close on 214-8 in their 50 overs with Alfie Delve 10no (11 balls) and Joseph Barker 3no (5 balls).

The Penwortham bowling figures were Isaac Roberts took 2-39 from 11 overs, Charlie Parker 2-41 off 9, Nathan Walmsley 2-53 from 15 and Connor Brown 2-58 off 15.

Robbie Sumner and Jonathon Hothersall opened for the visitors with Jonathon Hothersall being the first one out caught behind by Dave McCabe off Joseph Barker for 8 (12 balls)(2x4), 20-1, Matt Halliday was in at three and with Sumner took the score past the fifty only for both to fall to Nishan Peiris , Robbie Sumner was lbw for 17 (40 balls)(3x4), 52-2. one run later Matt Halliday was also out lbw for 24 (25 balls)(4x4). 53-3.

We now had two new batsmen Connor Brown and Kane Donaghy, with Connor Brown leading they kept the scoreboard ticking over, Kane Donaghy was the next man out lbw to Joseph Barker for 6 (32 balls), 88-4. Rayyan Tailor joined Brown and they took the score past the hundred, Joseph Barker struck again having Rayyan Tailor caught behind by Dave McCabe for 8 (18 balls), 106-5.

Charlie Parker came to the wicket but on reach 17 (27 balls)(2x4) he was bowled by Nishan Peiris, 133-6. Edward Duckworth replaced Parker but was soon out caught by Max Harper off James Bone for 6 (7 balls)(1x4), 140-7.

Nathan Walmsley was the new batsman but he soon lost his partner Connor Brown caught by Ben Houghton off James Bone for 52 (77 balls)(7x4), 160-8. Nathan Patel came to the wicket with 55 runs required from 8 overs, Nathan Walmsley went on the attack but they closed on 205-8 ten runs short in their 50 overs, Nathan Walmsley was 48no (54 balls)(4x4,3x6) and Nathan Patel 6no (13 balls).

For Euxton Joseph Barker took 3-51 from 11 overs, Nishan Peiris 3-55 off 13, James Bone 2-49 from 12 and Josh Boyden 0-48 off 14.

Fulwood & Broughton v Morecambe

Morecambe won the toss at the Highfield ground and chose to bat first, They got off to a bad start losing two wickets in the second over bowled by Jon Fenton, Lewis Smith was caught by Matt Smith for 1 (4 balls), 2-1. number three Andrew Creech was caught by Simon Kerrigan four balls later for 0 (4 balls), 2-2.

Siddarth Ahhuja joined Luke Pearson and they were going well, Simon Kerrigan broke the partnership having Luke Pearson caught behind by James McWilliam for 21 (44 balls)(4x4), 87-3. Alex Briggs was the new batsman but lost Siddarth Ahhuja caught behind by James McWilliam off Simon Kerrigan for 62 (43 balls)(7x4,4x6), 102-4.

Joseph Bradshaw replaced Ahhuja and with Briggs went after the bowling, Alex Briggs fell lbw to Simon Kerrigan for 36 (20 balls)(3x4,3x6), 138-5. the next man in was Joe Davies who became Simon Kerrigan's next victim bowled for 7 (23 balls), 162-6.

George Battersby came to the wicket but shortly afterwards Simon Kerrigan claimed his fifth and sixth wickets, Joseph Bradshaw was caught behind by James Mc William for 30 (36 balls)(5x4), 180-7, next ball incoming batsman Usman Haider was out lbw for 0 (1 ball), 180-8.

Lloyd (Adam )Smith was George Battersby's new partner but in the next over Jon Fenton took the last two wickets, George Battersby was caught by Clayton Stone for 16 (8 balls)(2x4,1x6), 186-9. Number eleven was Michael Bland and three balls later was caught by Simon Kerrigan for 0 (3 balls) as Morecambe were bowled out for 186 in 31 overs, Lloyd (Adam) Smith was 0no (1 ball).

Simon Kerrigan took 6-50 from 10 overs, Jon Fenton 4-45 off 8, Kashif Jamil 0-38 from 5 and Lewis Wellings 0-52 off 8.

In reply the hosts lost an early wicket Ewen Mansford bowled by Siddarth Ahhuja for 8 (21 balls)(1x4), 17-1. Ben Rosbottom came in at three and thet had doubled the score when Matt Smith fell lbw to Siddarth Ahhuja for 14 (29 balls)(2x4), 34-2.

Charlie Rossiter joined Rosbottom and they had put on 90 runs, Ben Rosbottom was stumped by Andrew Creech off George Battersby for 64 (91 balls)(9 x4), 124-3. Clayton Stone was the new batsman and with Rossiter had victory in sight when Lloyd (Adam) Smith bowled Charlie Rossiter for 45 (89 balls)(4x4), 178-4.

Simon Kerrigan was in next and with Clayton Stone saw the hosts home closing on 190-4 in 45 overs, Clayton Stone was 32no (36 balls)(4x4,1x6) and Simon Kerrigan 8n0(5 balls)(1x4).

For Morecambe Siddarh Ahhuja took 2-28 from 15 overs, George Battersby 1-23 off 4, Lloyd (Adam)Smith 1-34 from 7, Joseph Bradshaw 0-14 off 1,Lewis Smith 0-16 from 4, Usman Haider 0-29 off 6 and Michael Bland 0-42 from 8

Lytham v Preston

Lytham won the toss at Church Road and asked the visitors to bat first, Josh Holden struck early having Sajid Patel caught behind by Stewart Davison for 1 (5 balls), 18-1. Imran Mehmood came in at three but he soon lost Navazish Ali caught behind by Stewart Davison off Archie Banks-Smith for 17 (18 balls)(1x4), 28-2.

Ahmed Saeed Bariwala was next in but with the score doubled he fell lbw to Sabbir Patel for 15 (29 balls)(1x4,1x6), 56-3. The new batsman was Suhel Patel Jr and with Mehmood took the score past the hundred, Sabbir Patel struck again having Suhel Patel Jr caught by Guy Roberts for 22 (35 balls)(2x4,1x6), 103-4.

Ismail Patel joined Mehmood but was quickly out bowled by Ryan Norris for 1 (8 balls), 111-5. Sajid Nalbandh replaced Patel but two runs later Sabbir Patel took two wickets in two balls, Imran Mehmood was bowled for 43 (61 balls)(3x4,1x6), 113-6, Irfan Dudhara was the next batsman and was out first ball caught by Myles Child for 0 (1 ball), 113-7.

Arbaz Khan was the incoming batsman but in the next over he became Sabbir Patel's fifth wicket caught and bowled for 0 (2 balls), 114-8. Tahla Patel replaced Khan and dug in but he was yet another Sbbir Patel wicket lbw for 3 (20 balls), 126-9.

Number eleven was ShaidHusain Haji who was scoring at more than a run a ball when he was bowled by Sabbir Patel for 25 (21 balls)(3x4,1x6) as Preston were bowled out for 164 in 41 overs with Sajid Nalbandh 23no (43 balls).

The Lytham bowling was Sabbir Patel took 7-54 from 15 overs, Josh Holden 1-18 off 6, Ryan Norris 1-34 from 9, Archie Banks-Smith 1-34 off 4 and Ben Saunders 0-24 from 7.

The hosts reply got off to a bad start losing Ryan Norris caught by Suhel Patel off Imran Mehmood for 0 (11 balls), 0-1. The Lytham number three was Archie Banks-Smith and with Myles Child started the rebuild, Arbaz Khan broke the partnership having Myles Child caught by Imran Mehmood for 10 (67 balls)(1x4), 34-2.

Henry Roberts was next in and had nearly doubled the score when Archie Banks-Smith was bowled by Isamil Patel for 30 (53 balls)(4x4), 61-3, Edward Fiddler was the new batsman but he was soon out caught by Sajid Patel off Tahla Patel for 3 (11 balls), 72-4, Guy Roberts replaced Fiddler but two runs later Henry Roberts was out bowled by Ismail Patel for 19 (28 balls)(2x4), 74-5.

Stewart Davison joined Roberts and they took the score past the hundred but then they both were out, Stewart Davison was caught by Imran Mehmood off ShaidHusain Haji for 21 (27 balls)(1x6), 118-6, two runs later Guy Roberts was out caught by Talha Patel off Ismail Patel for 24 (43 balls)(2x4), 120-7.

We now had two new batsmen Charlie Nixon and Josh Holden, before they could settle Ismail Patel struck bowling Charlie Nixon for 5 (10 balls), 129-8. Ben Saunders was Josh Holden's new partner with 35 required, ShaidHusain Haji bowled Josh Holden for 8 (15 balls), 137-9.

Sabbir Patel was number eleven and they had added ten runs when disaster struck Ben Saunders was run out by ShaidHusain Haji for 9 (11 balls) and Lytham were bowled out for 147 in 47.1 overs 17 runs short, Sabbir Patel was 6no (7 balls)(1x4).

All the Preston bowlers took a wicket, Ismail Patel took 4-59 from 13, ShaidHusain Haji 2-14 off 4.1, Imran Mehmood 1-21 from 11, Arbaz Khan 1-23 off 11 and Tahla Patel 1-30 from 8.

Thornton Cleveleys v Great Eccleston

Great Eccleston won the toss at Illawlla and elected to bat first, They got off to a steady start. Matthew Lawrenson was the first to go caught by Ethan Elphick off Joshua Rolinson for 14 (25 balls)(3x4), 23-1. Number three was Will Thistlethwaite and with Will Smith had the score moving along until Anthony Ellison bowled Will Thistlethwaite for 36 (52 balls)(7x4), 86-2,

Mini Bhada joined Smith and they took the score to 105 when Anthony Ellison struck again Will Smith caught by Josh Borrell for 32 (83 balls)(3x4), 105-3. Mohammed Fazil was next in but he soon lost Mini Bhada caught behind by Sam Curwen off Joshua Sackfield for 16 (24 balls)(3x4), 112-4.

Mohamed Nadeem was the new batsman and they were approaching the 150 when Mohammed Fazil was caught by Josh Borrell off Anthony Ellison for 12 (16 balls)(2x4), 148-5. Joe McMillam replaced Fazil and with Nadeem were scoring well but in the last over Mohamed Nadeem was caught by J Sackfield off Joshua Rolinson for 62 (55 balls)(9x4,1x6), 236-6. Phil Booth came to the wicket with 5 balls remaining and saw Great Eccleston close on 240-6 in their 50 overs, Joe McMillan was 43no (42 balls)(3x4,2x6) and Phil Booth 2no (3 balls).

The Thornton Cleveleys bowling was Anthony Ellison toon 3-49 from 12 overs, Joshau Rolinson 2-38 off 8, Joshua Sackfield 1-73 from 15, Daniel Howard 0-22 off 5, Christopher Hedges 0-22 from 2 and Jake Apperley 0-27 off 8.

The hosts opening pair gave them a great foundation with an opening stand of 76, broken by Will Smith having Josh Borrell caught by Mohamed Nadeem for 35 (80 balls)(5x4), 76-1. Sam Curwen came in at three but he soon lost Joshua Sackfield caught and bowled by Mohamed Nadeem for 48 (80 balls)(4x4,2x6), 94-2.

Jacob Sackfield was the next man in and was going well until he fell lbw to Mohamed Nadeem for 19 (25 balls)(2x4,1x6), 138-3. Joshua Rolinson was the new batsman but he was soon out caught by Will Turnbull off Will Smith for 9 (9 balls)(1x6), 151-4.

Daniel Howard replaced Rolinson and went on the attack, with Curwen they took the score past the two hundred, MinI Bhada broke the partnership having Sam Curwen caught by Will Smith for 52 (60 balls)(4x4,1x6), 216-5.

Ethan Elphick came to the wicket and with Daniel Howard saw the hosts home on 241-5 in 48 overs , Daniel Howard was 52no (25 balls)(1x4.6x6) and Ethan Elphick 12no (9 balls)(1x4,1x6).

The Great Eccleston bowling was Will Smith took 2-53 from 9 overs, Mohamed Nadeem 2-55 off 9. Mini Bhada 1-33 from 15, Jim Proctor 0-31 off 7 and Phil Booth 0-63 from 8

Whalley v Barrow

Barrow won the toss at Station Road and decided to bat first, they got off to a good start Toby Mowat the first man out caught behind by Thomas Cameron off Sam Jackson for 25 (32 balls)(4x4,1x6), 37-1, The Barrow number three was Declan Tyson but he soon lost Simon Chadd lbw to Monty Cort for 18 (70 balls)(2x4), 48-2.

Hardus Coetzer was next in but was quickly out caught by Monty Cort off Sam Jackson for 6 (9 balls)(1x4), 59-3. Jamie Harris joined Tyson and they took the score to 94 when Jamie Harris was bowled by Monty Cort for 13 (26 balls)(1x4), 94-4.

Jack Singleton was the new batsman, Monty Cort struck again trapping Declan Tyson lbw for 34 (69 balls)(4x4,2x6), 103-5. Daryl Wearing was the incoming batsman, Joshua Dentith was brought on to bowl and in his first over had Daryl Wearing caught by Monty Cort for 8 (14 balls)(1x4), 120-6,

Liam Walker was the next batsman in and was out in Joshua Dentith's next over caught by Daniel Ainsworth for 2 (7 balls), 125-7. Sam Henderson replaced Walker and with Singleton were moving the score along, Monty Cort claimed his fourth wicker Sam Henderson caught by Daniel Ainsworth for 19 (21 balls)(2x4,1x6), 148-9.

Alexander Proctor was Singleton's next partner but fell one run later caught by Toby Birtwistle off Joshua Dentith for 0 (3 balls),149-9. Number eleven was Ben Carr and with Jack Singleton saw Barrow close on 163-9 in their 50 overs, Jack Singleton was 34no (46 balls)(1x4,2x6) and Ben Carr 0no (2 balls).

The Whalley bowling figures were Monty Cort took 4-50 from 15 overs, Joshua Dentith 3-43 off 15, Sam Jackson 2-43 from 11, Levi Wolfenden 0-9 off 5 and Ewan McDonald 0-18 from 4.

In reply Whalley were bowled out for 94 in 31.4 overs, Hamish Muullavey- Clark top scored with 17 with contributions from Monty Cort 12, Levi Wolfenden 12 , Daniel Ainsworth 11 and Ewan McDonald 10,

For Barrow Hardus Coetzer took 5-28 from 9.4 overs, Sam Henderson 3-11 off 6, Liam Walker 1-10 from 2, Declan Tyson 1-22 off 7 and Daryl Wearing 0-23 from 7.

Due to a computer glitch for the Whalley innings I am unable to give a full summary.
