The Northern Cricket League Review

The Northern Premier League 2025 season began today bringing in a new era for the League welcoming 7 new teams to the league

This season we will have two divisions of ten teams.

The new League season got off with 12 pt wins for Blackpool, Fulwood & Broughton, Garstang, Kendal and Netherfield in Division 1.

In the newly formed Division 2 there were 12 pt wins for Carnforth and Penwortham, 11pt wins for Carlisle, and St Annes, The bad weather meant the Barrow v Vernon Carus game was abandoned with each side receiving 2pts.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 1

Blackpool v Longridge

Blackpool won the toss at Stanley Park and chose to bat first, The Longridge opening bowlers Jonathan Millward and Kieran McClintock demolished the top order having Blackpool reeling at 18-6.

Jonathan Millward started the collapse, Dylan Henshall was caught by Zach Proctor for 1 (7 balls), 5-1, Andrew Needham was in at three and saw opener Kasim Munir out caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey off Kieran McClintock for 3 (23 balls), 7-2.

Matthew Taafe was in next but was run out by Taariq Chiecktey for 0 (2 balls), 7-3, The new batsman was Joshua Boyne who fell first ball caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey off Jonathan Millward for 0, 7-4.

Ali Usman joined Andrew Needham but with only five runs added Jonathan Millward struck again having Andrew Needham caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey for 2 (9 balls), 12-5. Stuart Ashford was the new man but became wicket number four for Jonathan Millward lbw for 2 (20 balls), 18-6.

Jake Muncaster came to the wicket and with Ali Usman began to slowly turn the innings around, the introduction of Gabriel Dowthwaite into the attack saw him have Ali Usman caught by Luke Platt for 12 (34 balls), 40-7.

Ben Howarth replaced Usman and with Muncaster took the score past the century when Jake Muncaster was caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey off Jake Durnell for 33 (69 balls)(4x4), 103-8. Matthew Grindley was the new batsman and with Howarth continued to build the score until he was out lbw to Jake Durnell for 22 (31 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 140-9.

The Blackpool innings came to a close on 146 all out in 47.3 overs with Tom Howarth bowling Ben Howarth for 50 (93 balls)(4x4,26) with Jamie Thomson 0no (2 balls).

Jonathan Millward took 4-13 form 10 overs with Jake Durnell taking 2-35 off 14, Tom Howarth 1-12 from 4, Gabriel Dowthwaite 1-21 off 3, Kieran McClintock 1-35 from 10 and Jacob Proctor 0-25 off 6.

The Longridge openers Taariq Chiecktey and Joshua Mullin looked to settling in when both fell for 2 runs, Jamie Thomson bowled Taariq Chiecktey for 13 (17 balls)(2x4), 26-1, two runs later Joshua Mullin was caught by Dylan Henshall off Matthew Grindley for 8 (28 balls), 28-2.

The two new batsmen were Luke Platt and Zac Christie, they were moving the score along with Christie leading the way, Ali Usman was brought into the attack and in his first over he bowled Luke Platt for 8 (28 balls), 49-3.

Zach Proctor was next in but soon out lbw to Ali Usman for 0 (3 balls), 55-4, the incoming batsman was Kieran McClintock who suffered the same fate lbw to Ali Usman for 0 (10 balls), 63-5.

Tom Howarth replaced McClintock but quickly became wicket number four caught by Andrew Needham of Usman for 1 (12 balls), 71-6. two runs had been added when two wickets fell on the same score, Joshua Boyne took the vital wicket of Zac Christie bowling him for 32 (43 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 73-7.

Ali Usman claimed his fifth wicket new batsman Gabriel Dowthwaite stumped by Ben Howarth for 1 (6 balls), 73-8. Jake Durnell and Jonathan Millward were the batsmen at the crease but the end came twelve runs later with Joshua Boyne clearing up the tail, he caught and bowled Jake Durnell for 9 (17 balls)(2x4), 85-9, he then had last man Jacob Proctor caught by Matthew Taaffe for 0 (7 balls) as Longridge were bowled out for 85 in 31 overs. Joanthan Millward was 2no (24 balls).

Ali Usman had the remarkable figures of 5-2 from 9 overs supported by Joshua Boyne with 3-12 off 5, Jamie Thomson 1-32 from 6 and Matthew Grindley 1-38 off 11.

Fulwood & Broughton v Fleetwood

Fleetwood won the toss at the Highfield ground and invited the hosts to bat first, Matt Smith went early caught by Michael Rippon off Hassan Mughal for 7 (7 balls), 16-1.

Ben Parkinson came in at three and with Ewen Mansford moved the score along and were doing well until Michael Rippon trapped Ben Parkinson lbw for 31 (64 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 82-2. next in was Simon Kerrigan and the scoreboard was ticking over nicely when Declan Clerkin bowled Ewen Mansford for 60 (105 balls)(4x4, 3x6), 128-3.

The new batsman was James McWilliam, both batsmen fell within three runs of each other, Simon Kerrigan was the first to go caught and bowled by Declan Clerkin for 20 (48 balls), 147-4, Clerkin then acoounted for James McWilliam lbw for 10 (12 balls), 150-5.

Charlie Rossiter and Jon Fenton replaced the out going batsmen and pushed the score along, their partnership was 79 and into the last over, Charlie Rossiter was run out by Jeremy Davies for 61 (38 balls)(7x4, 3x6), 229-6.

The batsman coming in was Lewis Wellings who was bowled by Jeremy Davies for 0 (1 ball), 235-7. The Fulwood & Broughton innings closed on 236-7 in their 50 overs with Jon Fenton 19no (1x4, 1x6) and Cameron Port 0no (1 ball).

For Fleetwood Declan Clerkin took 3-54 from 13 overs, Jeremy Davies 1-22 off 4, Hassan Mughal 1-26 from 7, Michael Rippon 1-66 off 11 and Matthew Siddall 0-65 from 15.

The Fleetwood openers Tomas King and Andy Drake got off to a quick start but lost Tomas King caught by Matt Smith off Marcus Allen for 26 (19 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 29-1.

Charlie Clark came in and was going at nearly a run a ball, Simon Kerrigan came into the attack and in his first over had Charlie Clark caught by Lewis Wellings for 12 (14 balls), 50-2, Michael Rippon was in next but soon lost Andy Drake bowled by Jon Fenton for 13 (44 balls)(2x4), 60-3.

Harry McAleer was the new batsman but soon became Jon Fenton's next victim caught by Simon Kerrigan for 10 (20 balls), 82-4, Jeremy Davies joined Michael Rippon and they were going well until James McWilliam stumped Michael Rippon off Cameron Port for 39 (69 balls), (1x4, 1x6), 137-5.

Adam Sharrocks replaced Rippon and with Davies were making good progress until Simon Kerrigan took two wickets in three balls, Adam Sharrocks was lbw for 15 (21 balls)(2x4), 179-6, New man Declan Clerkin was bowled for 0 (2 balls), 179-7.

Nathan Bend joined Jeremy Davies and they took the score to two hundred, Ewen Mansford came on to bowl and took the prize wicket of Jeremy Davies caught by Jon Fenton for 50 (77 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 200-9.

The new batsman was Hassan Mughal who was run out first ball by Ewen Mansford for 0, 200-9. The Fleetwood innings came to a close on 206 all out in 47 overs with Ewen Mansford bowling Nathan Bend for 24 (16 balls)(1 x4, 3x6) leaving Matthew Siddall 0no.

The bowling figures were Simon Kerrigan 3-46 from 15, Ewen Mansford 2-6 off 1, Jon Fenton 2-63 from 15, Cameron Port 1-20 off 5, Marcus Allen 1-24 from 6 and Lewis Wellings 0-36 of 5.

Kendal v Leyland

Leyland won the toss at Shap Road and put the hosts into bat, Luke Hands claimed an early wicket Darren Nightingale caught by Andrew Jacques for 0 (3 balls), 4-1. Coming in at number three was Finlay Richardson and with Max Winskill took the score past the hundred. Andrew Jacques claimed his second wicket Finlay Richardson caught by Ned Patterson for 45 (49 balls), 108-2.

In the 18th over Andrew Jacques claimed three wickets, new man Cole Abrahams was the first lbw for 2 (5 balls), 114-3, in came Freddie Fallows but was out first ball caught behind by Adam Sexton for 0, 114-4, three balls later James Bowman was bowled for 0 (3 balls), 114-5.

Things did not improve for the home team with incoming batsman Aryan Chowdhury giving Andrew Jacques his fifth wicket out caught by Sam Oldham for 0 (7 balls), 118-6. Harry Temperton was the new man but was quickly out caught by Alexander Eyre off Ned Patterson for 4 (8 balls), 125-7.

Louis Backhouse replaced Temperton and became Ned Patterson's next victim bowled for 2 (14 balls), 136-9, Sam Sharp joined Max Winskill but became another wicket for Ned Patterson bowled for 5 (11 balls), 160-9.

Christopher Miller was the Kendal number eleven and dug in and supported Max Winskill, Winskill reached his century and with Miller continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over, Andrew Jacques claimed his sixth wicket Christopher Miller caught by Ned Patterson for 26 (52 balls) as Kendal were 242 all out in 45.2 over with Max Winskill carrying his bat with 150no (120 balls)(12x4, 7x6).

Andrew Jacques had figures off 6-70 from 14.2 overs with Ned Patterson 3-53 off 15, Luke Hands 1-50 from 6, Will Smith 0-10 off 2, Sam Oldham 0-28 from 3, and Ross Bretherton 0-29 off 5.

The Leyland reply did not get off to a good start, Sam Sharp took two wickets in an over, He bowled Karl Cross for 6 (14 balls), 18-1, three balls later Sam Oldham was also bowled for 0 (3 balls), 18-2.

Luke Hands joined Alexander Eyre but with only six runs added Louis Backhouse had Alexander Eyre caught by Freddie Fallows for 14 (22 balls)(3x4), 24-3. Ross Bretherton was in next and with Luke Hands slowly moved the score along until Ross Bretherton was caught by Darren Nightingale off Freddie Fallows for 11 (41 balls)(2x4), 78-4.

The new batsman was Andrew Makinson, it was disaster for the visitors when Christopher Miller bowled Luke Hands for 45 (79 balls)(8x4), 92-5. Freddie Fallows struck three runs later bowling Alex Sutcliffe for 3 (8 balls), 95-6

Ned Patterson was the incoming batsman but soon became victim number three for Freddie Fallows caught by Maz Winskill for 7 (14 balls), 109-7. Will Smith replaced Patterson but he also fell to Freddie Fallows bowled for 13 (22 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 134-8.

Leyland did not have any answer to Freddie Fallows as he cleaned up the tail, Adam Sexton was his fifth wicket lbw for 1 (13 balls), 141-9, the fighting innings of Andrew Makinson came to an end caught by Christopher Miller for 23 (41 balls)(2x4. 1x6) as Leyland were bowled out for 142 in 43 overs.

Freddie Fallows had figures of 6-62 from 15 overs with Sam Sharp 2-23 off 8, Louis Backhouse 1-23 from 8 and Christopher Miller 1-32 off 12.

Netherfield v Chorley

Chorley won the toss at Parkside Road and put the hosts into bat, Ben Barrow and Reece Irving opened and were parted by Miller Childs who had Ben Barrow caught by Edwin Moulton for 18 (18 balls)(3x4), 39-1.

Cole Mcconchie was in at three and with Irving were going along nicely until Reece Irving was caught by Kieran Yould off Will Moulton for 35 (63 balls)(6x4), 73-2. John Huck joined Mcconchie and they took complete control with a stand of 254 brought to an end with the fall of Cole Mcconchie caught by Edwin Moulton off Miller Childs for 139 (105 balls)(16x4, 3x6) 327-3.

Richard Everett replaced Mcconchie but with eight balls to go lost John Huck for 128 (108 balls)(15x4, 3x6), 339-4. Josh Dixon came to the wicket and saw Richard Everett hit 15 runs off the last over as Netherfield closed on 355-4 in their 50 overs with Richard Everett 15no (8 balls)(1x4, 1x6) and Josh Dixon 2no (2 ball).

The Chorley bowling was Miller Childs 2-88 from 12 overs, Will Moulton 1-50 off 9, Edwin Moulton 1-63 from 11, James Lee 0-13 off 4, Keegan Petersen 0-39 from 3, Matt Dawson 0-35 off 5 and Joseph Tiffin 0-53 from 6.

Will Moulton and Miller Childs got the visitors off to a good start with an opening stand of 40. Josh Wills made the breakthrough having Will Moulton caught behind by Richard Everett for 15 (19 balls)(3x4), 40-1.

Edwin Moulton was the Chorley number three but soon lost his partner Miller Childs caught by Oli Wileman off Matt Jackson for 23 (23 balls)(5x4), 48-2. Keegan Petersen was in next and became Josh Wills second wicket bowled for 3 (7 balls), 52-3.

The new batsman was Kieran Yould and he went on the attack, Cole Mcconchie was brought into the attack and with his first ball had Kieran Yould caught by Reece Irving for 23 (14 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 86-4.

Zayn Wadiwala joined Moulton and they took the score past the hundred when Zayn Wadiwala was caught by Reece Irving off Oli Wileman for 6 (24 balls), 119-5. James Dunn came to the wicket and saw Oliver Sanday take three wickets in four balls, he had Edwin Moulton caught behind by Richard Everett for 29 (51 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 123-6, next ball new man Joseph Tiffin was caught by Reece Irving for 0, 123-7. in came Ben Simpkins and two balls later he was caught by Will Beeden for 0 (2 balls), 123-8.

James Lee replaced Simpkins but with only one run added Oli Wileman caught and bowled James Dunn for 1 (8 balls), 124-9. The Chorley innings came to a close on 126 all out in 25.4 overs with Oil Wileman bowling number eleven Matt Jackson for 2 (3 balls) leaving James Lee 0no (2 balls).

All the Chorley bowlers claimed a wicket, the bowling figures were Oliver Sanday 3-13 from 3 overs, Oli Wileman 3-23 off 6.4, Josh Wills 2-30 from 6, Cole Mcconchie 1-6 off 4 and Matt Jackson 1-46 from 6.

Settle v Garstang

Garstang won the toss at the Marshfield ground and asked the hosts to bat first, Settle got off to a bad start losing three wickets early, Corey Cater was the man doing the damage, He had John Davidson caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 1 (4 balls), 2-1, next he bowled Benjamin Hulse for 0 (19 balls), 4-2, number three Zane Nirodi was next, caught by Waris Khan for 0 (31 balls), 9-3.

Gautam Waghela and James Snowden were given the task of rebuilding the innings, James Snowden quickly became wicket number four for Corey Cater bowled for 1 (5 balls), 17-4. Danny Gilbert replaced Cater in the attack and in his second over bowled Gautam Waghela for 16 (26 balls)(2x4), 28-5.

Aqib Zulfiqar was joined by William Davidson and they moved the score along until Aqib Zukfiqar was caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Sumit Ruikar for 11 (22 balls)(2x4), 46-6.

Eddy Read was the new batsman but with only four runs added he fell lbw to Danny Gilbert for 4 (6 balls), 52-7. Will Vause was next in and was soon out caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Danny Gilbert for 6 (13 balls), 62-8.

Noah Smith replaced Eddy Read but with the score on 72 he lost William Davidson bowled by Danny Gilbert for 23 (38 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 72-9.

The Settle innings came to a close on 84 all out in 33.2 overs with Sumit Ruikar having Noah Smith caught by Ian Walling for 5 (19 balls) with Joe Pickles 8no (18 balls).

Corey Cater took 4-11 from 9 overs with Danny Gilbert 4-28 off 8, Sumit Ruikar 2-30 from 10.2 and Ian Walling 0-10 off 6.

Tom Higson got the hosts off to a blistering start with 40 runs in the first four overs, the opening partnership was broken with the introduction of Will Vause into the attack, he removed both opening batsmen, Michael Walling was first to go caught by Zane Nirodi fro 11 (21 balls)(2x4), 66-1, one run later he had Tom Higson caught by Gautam Waghela for 49 (38 balls)(10x4), 67-2.

That was the last success for the hosts as Marc Walling hit a six for victory as Garstang closed on 88-2 in 13 overs, Marc Walling was 12no (8 balls)(1x4, 1x6) and Joseph Pearson was 7no (14 balls).

The Settle bowling was Will Vause 2-18 from 3, Benjamin Hulse 0-9 off 2, William Davidson 0-13 from 2, Eddy Read 0-23 off 2 and Gautam Waghela 0-25 from 4.

DIVISION TWO

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 1

Barrow v Vernon Carus

Barrow won the toss at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground and invited the visitors to bat first, Daryl Wearing made early inroads into the Vernon Carus innings taking two quick wickets, Hasan Zamam was the first to go caught by Simon Chadd for 6 (15 balls), 14-1, Haren Hetty quickly followed lbw for 0 (8 balls), 14-2.

Wes Royle joined Alan Maguire and they were moving along slowly, Daryl Wearing struck having Alan Maguire caught by Sam Dutton for 28 (56 balls)(3x4), 49-3. Jaxon Cornford was the new batsman but with only five runs added he was bowled by Toby Mowat for 0 (9 balls), 54-4.

Robert Bridges replaced Cornford and dug in, The partnership with Wes Royle was 65 when Wes Royle fell caught by Sam Henderson off Dikshant Vairagi for 59 (87 balls)(10 x4), 119-5.

Muhammad Patel was next in, the score was on 132 when two wickets fell, Muhammad Patel was caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Gary Collins for 12 (15 balls)(2x4), 132-6, Robert Bridges followed caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Dikshant Vairagi for 16 (49 balls), 132-7.

We now had two new batsmen Casey Sawley-Elliott and Oliver Whalley, Gary Collins removed both batsmen in the same over, he bowled Oliver Whalley for 15 (12 balls)(3x4), 147-8. one run later Casey Sawley-Elliott was caught by Dan Adams for 0 (10 balls), 148-9.

The Vernon Carus innings closed on 150 all out in 44.4 overs with Jacob Holland out lbw to Dikshanr Vaiagi for 0 (4 balls) leaving Matthew Timms 2no (3 balls).

Gary Collins took 3-18 from 7 overs, Daryl Wearing 3-36 off 15, Dikshant Vairagi 3-40 from 7.4, Toby Mowat 1-30 off 7 and Sam Henderson 0-25 from 8.

The Barrow innings only lasted 7.2 overs due to rain and the match was abandoned, The score was 40-0 with Drew Postlethwaite 24no (28 balls)(4x4, 1x6) and Sam Dutton 7no (16 balls).

For Vernon Carus Matthew Timms bowled took 0-13 from 4 overs, Muhammad Patel 0-13 off 1 and Jacob Holland 0-14 from 2.2.

Euxton v Carnforth

Carnforth won the toss at Balshaw Park and decided to bat first, They lost three early wickets with both openers going with the score on 8, James Bone bowled Lewis Spurr for 0 (13 balls), 8-1, Freddie Whatmuff was caught behind by Jack Morgan off Joseph Bowden for 5 (14 balls), 8-2.

Number three Jaco Beneke was next out caught behind by Jack Morgan off James Bone for 0 (2 balls), 12-3. James Park-Johnson and Louis Potter were the new batsman, James Bone claimed his third wicket James Park-Johnson caught by Josh Tolley for 13 (14 balls)(3x4), 23-4.

Shane Dixon joined Potter but did not last long caught by Tom Carter off Joseph Bowden for 4 (11 balls), 31-5, next in was Jack Thompson but he soon became Joseph Bowden's next victim caught by Hakeem Perryman for 1 (19 balls), 34-6, the incoming batsman was Alfie Hill but with only five runs added he lost his partner Louis Potter caught by Hakeem Perryman off Jame Bone for 2 (39 balls), 39-7.

Romario Brathwaite was next in but became wicket number four for Joseph Bowden bowled for 2 (3 balls), 49-8. The new batsman was Zack Dodds and he went on the attack, James Bone claimed his fifth wicket having Alfie Hill caught and bowled for 13 (23 balls), 68-9.

The Carnforth number eleven was Louis Rogerson and he kept one end going while Zack Dodds was moving the scoreboard along, their partnership was 81 broken when Zack Dodds was bowled by Tom Carter for 82 (59 balls)(5x4, 8x6) as Carnforth were bowled out for 149 in 37.2 overs with Louis Rogerson 4no (29 balls).

James Bone took 5-55 from 15 overs, Joseph Bowden 4-47 off 14, Tom Cater 1-0 from 0.2, Jack Shovelton 0-1 off 1, Louis Sweeney 0-20 from 4 and Josh Tolley 0-23 off 3.

The Euxton innings got off to a steady start, Josh Tolley was the first man to go caught by Alfie Hill off Zack Dodds for 15 (18 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 20-1. James Bone was in at three but was soon out caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park- Johnson for 11 (18 balls)(2x4), 34-2.

Hakeem Perryman came to the wicket but soon lost Max Harper caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park-Johnson for 12 (41 balls), 46-3. Ben Houghton replaced Harper and with Perryman were making good progress, James Park-Johnson made the breakthrough having Ben Houghton caught by Zack Dodds for 21 (23 balls)(4x4), 83-4.

The new batsman was Jack Shovelton but he was soon out caught by Freddie Whatmuff off Jaco Beneke for 6 (7 balls), 93-5, next in was Mark Winrow but with only one run added he was out lbw to Freddie Whatmuff for 0 (5 balls), 94-6. Jack Morgan was the new partner for Hakeem Perryman and had taken the score to within thirty runs of victory when Hakeem Perryman was caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park-Johnson for 35 (67 balls)(4x4), 121-7,

Next in was Louis Sweeney, Five runs had been added when Freddie Whatmuff struck with two wickets in four balls, Jack Morgan was caught by Jaco Beneke for 6 (30 balls)(2x4), 126-8, three balls later Joseph Bowden was lbw for 0 (3 balls), 126-9.

Tom Carter joined Louis Sweeney and they were within three runs for victory when Freddie Whatmuff bowled Tom Cater for 12 (17 balls) as Euxton were bowled out for 147 in 40 overs two runs short, Louis Sweeney was 10no (14 balls).

Carlisle won the toss at Rectory Field and asked the hosts to bat first, Fyffe Dennis lead the way but lost his partner Ben Munslow caught by Freddie Newton off Ben Purdham for 7 (24 balls), 25-1.

The Mawdesley number three was Aneeq Hassan who was bowled by Michael Slack for 6 (15 balls), 39-2, the next in was Daniel Unsworth and with Dennis kept the scoreboard ticking over until Michael Slack had Daniel Unsworth caught behind by Tom Benn for 14 (20 balls)(2x4), 65-2.

The new batsman was Nathan Trengove but with only eight runs added he lost Fyffe Dennis bowled by Ben Purdham 27 (63 balls)(3x4), 74-3. Lee Berrie replaced Dennis, disaster struck for the hosts with the loss of two wickets on the same score, Lee Berrie was bowled by Michael Slack for 7 (16 balls), 91-5, Nathan Trengove was caught by Zephania Arinaitwe off Ben Purdham for 16 (29 balls), 91-6.

Oliver Ellicott and Joshua Unsworth were the batsmen to carry on the fight, they put had on 30 when Oliver Ellicott was caught by Ben Purdham off Johnny Westgarth for 29 (45 balls)(2x4), 121-7. Trevor Webster joined Unsworth and he lead the way, Johnny Westgarth bowled Joshua Unsworth for 29 (45 balls)(1x4, 2x6) to break the stand, 165-8.

The new batsman was Joshua Adamson and with Webster put on 32 runs, he was out stumped off the last ball by Tom Benn off Johnny Westgarth for 8 (18 balls) as Mawdesley closed on 197-9 in their 50 overs with Trevor Webster 47no (44 balls)(6x4, 2x6).

The Carlisle bowling was Johnny Westgarth 3-32 from 10, Ben Purdham 3-34 off 15, Michael Slack 3-35 from 10, Jared Kuhl 0-28 off 4 and Nico Watt 0-58 from 11.

The Carlisle openers Zephania Arinaitwe and Marc Brown gave them a great foundation with an opening stand of 74 broken when Zephania Arinaitwe was caught by Joshua Unsworth off Oliver Ellicott for 39 (26 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 74-1.

Tom Benn was next in and kept up the run rate, he was out lbw to Neil O'Malley for 17 (24 balls)(2x4), 123-2, the new batsman was Michael Slack and with Marc Brown took the score past the 150, Marc Brown fell caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Daniel Unsworth for 66 (67 balls)(7x4,2x6), 153-3.

Ben Davidson replaced Brown but quickly became wicket number two for Daniel Unsworth caught by Oliver Ellicott for 2 (5 balls), 161-4. Freddie Newton joined Slack and they saw Carlisle to victory on 201-4 in 31.4 overs with Michael Slack 48no (54 balls)(9x4) and Freddie Newton 9no (16 balls).

The Mawdesley bowling was Daniel Unsworth 2-15 from 4.4 overs, Neil O'Malley 1-29 off 6, Oliver Ellicott 1-46 from 8, Joshua Adamson 0-22 off 3. Joshua Unsworth 0-26 from 4, Aneeq Hassan 0-26 off 2 and Lee Berrie 0-29 from 4.

Penwortham v Great Eccleston

Penwortham won the toss at Middleforth Green and invited the visitors to bat first, Both openers were out early and on the same total. Ryan Roberts caught and bowled Rishit Sharma for 4 (17 balls), 14-1. Nisanth Nithian followed caught by Ryan Roberts off Ryan Maddock for 6 (19 balls), 14-2.

The two new batsmen were Alexander Rhodes and Muhammed Nadeem, Ryan Roberts claimed his second wicket Alexander Rhodes bowled for 6 (8 balls), 34-3, next in was Mohammed Fazil and with Nadeem moved the score along at a good rate until Mohammed Nadeem was caught behind by Ryan Dimasi off Jonathon Hothersall for 32 (26 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 53-4.

Will Thistlethwaite replaced Nadeem but was bowled by Ryan Maddock for 6 (21 balls), 87-5, Joe McMillan joined Fazil but with only 12 runs added Ed Cox bowled him for 6 (6 balls)(1x6), 99-6.

The new batsman was William Turnbull who supported Mohammed Fazil and they took the score to 151 when Ryan Roberts took two wickets in one over, he took the prize wicket of Mohammed Fazil caught behind by Ryan Dimasi for 61 (68 balls)(8x4, 2x6), 151-7, next in Sandeep Gorige followed bowled for 0 (5 balls), 151-8.

Phil Booth joined Turnbull but was soon out caught by Harish Hamsa off Ed Cox for 2 (3 balls), 154-9, The Great Eccleston innings came to a close on 158 all out in 43 overs with Ryan Roberts claiming his fifth wicket bowling William Turnbull for 17 (73 balls)(2x4) with Jim Proctor 1no (14 balls).

Ryan Roberts took 5-31 from 14 overs, Ryan Maddock 2-43 off 10, Ed Cox 2-50 from 14, Jonathon Hothersall 1-12 off 1 and Declan Jones 0-18 from 4.

The Penwortham openers Muhammad Ilyas and Ryan Dimasi got them off to a good start, their partnership was broken when Muhammad Ilyas was caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Nisanth Nithian for 15 (24 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 45-1.

Coming in at number three was Joanathon Hothersall, he lost Ryan Dimasi 17 runs later caught by William Turnbull off Nisanth Nithian for 40 (32 balls)(2x4, 3x6), 62-2. Joseph Bradshaw was next in and with Hothersall were approaching the hundred when Jonathon Hothersall was out lbw to William Turnbull for 21 (40 balls)(3x4), 97-3.

The new batsman was Ryan Maddock who quickly became wicket number two for William Turnbull, caught by Phil Booth for 4 (4 balls), 106-4, That was the last success for the visitors as new batsman Glynn Parkinson 22no (25 balls)(2x4, 1x6) and Joseph Bradshaw 37no (43 balls)(3x4, 2x6) saw Penwortham home on 159-4 in 27.5 overs.

St Annes v Thornton Cleveleys

St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and chose to bat first, Ashton Charles and Nathan Armstrong opened, Joshua Rolinson made the breakthrough having Ashton Charles caught by Daniel Howard for 12 (29 balls)(2x4), 24-1.

Coming in at three was Lukman Vahaluwala, only five runs had been added when Nathan Armstrong fell lbw to Joshua Rolinson for 13 (11 balls)(2x4), 29-2, Luke Jardine was in next and with Vahaluwala were going well until Lukman Vahaluwala was caught by Joshua Sackfield off Jake Apperley for 34 (39 balls)(7x4), 69-3.

Ankur Malik was the new batsman and he gave support to Luke Jardine who was keeping the scoreboard ticking over, Disaster struck for the home side losing three wickets for two runs, Jake Apperley had Ankur Malik lbw for 4 (29 balls), 99-4, in came Nathan Bolus but was bowled by Cameron Chisholm for 0 (6 balls) 100-5, Thomas Bradley came in next but fell bowled by Jake Apperley for 1 (4 balls), 101-6.

Alex Urquhart joined Jardine and they were moving steadily along until Luke Jardine was out caught by Richard Jenkinson for 52 (83 balls)(8x4), 130-7, New man Mitch Bolus was soon out bowled by Cameron Chisholm for 1 (9 balls), 137-8.

Ryan Birkman replaced Bolus and with Urquhart took the score past the 150, Cameron Chisholm claimed his third wicket Alex Urquhart caught behind by Sam Curwen for 26 (42 balls)(5x5), 156-9. Number eleven Rory Urquhart joined Birkman and their stand was 25 when Daniel Howard bowled Ryan Birkman for 17 (20 balls)(2x4) as St Annes were bowled out for 181 in 47.3 overs with Rory Urquhart 14no (13 balls)(2x4).

Cameron Chisholm took 4-37 from 15 overs, Jake Apperley 3-35 off 12, Joshua Rolinson 2-53 from 10, Daniel Howard 1-34 off 8.3 and Christopher Hedges 0-20 from 2.

The visitors reply did not start well Joshua Rolinson caught by Rory Urquhart off Mitch Bolus for 5 (22 balls), 11-1. Josh Borrell came in at three and with Joshua Sackfield slowly moved the score along, Joshua Sackfield was next out bowled by Rory Urquhart for 17 (55 balls), 39-2.

Sam Curwen was next in and with Borrell continued the steady progress until Josh Borrell was caught by Nathan Bolus off Ankur Malik for 25 (62 balls)(4x4), 70-3, Richard Jenkinson joined Curwen but was run out for 10 (23 balls) by Ryan Birkman, 91-4.

The new batsman was Jacob Sackfield who quickly became wicket number two for Ankur Malik bowled for 3 (7 balls), 94-5, Due to the weather the visitors target had been change to 155 required in 44 overs. They now needed 61 runs from 7 overs.

Daniel Howard replaced Sackfield but on reaching 6 (7 balls) he was bowled by Mitch Bolus, 106-6, Cameron Chisholm came to the wicket with 49 required from 4 overs, Mitch Bolus claimed his third wicket Sam Curwen caught by Ankur Malik for 36 (75 balls)(3x4), 120-7.

Jake Apperley was the new batsmen and with Chisholm saw Thornton Cleveleys close on 128-7 in their 44 overs, Cameron Chisholm was 6no (11 balls) and Jake Apperley 1no (6 balls).

The St Annes bowling was Mitch Bolus 3-45 from 15, Ankur Malik 2-35 off 10, Rory Urquhart 1-17 from 6, Alex Urquhart 0-7 off 2 and Lukman Vahaluwala 0-16 from 11.
