Barrow v Penwortham
Penwortham won the toss at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground and asked the hosts to bat first, Barrow got off to the worst possible start losing Drew Postlewthwaite caught by Ryan Dimasi off Ryan Roberts for 0 off the first ball of the innings, 0-1.
Dikshant Vairagi came in at three but was next out caught by Charlie Evans off Ryan Maddock for 6 (21 balls), 22-1. Sam Dutton joined Toby Mowat but with the score on 35 both were out, Ryan Maddock bowled Sam Dutton for 6 (15 balls), 35-3, in the next over Toby Mowat was caught by Ryan Roberts off Nathan Walmsley for 16 (29 balls)(3x4), 35-3.
The two new batsman were Jack Singleton and Nisanth Arun, Nathan Walmsley claimed his second wicket bowling Jack Singleton for 0 (4 balls), 38-4. Liam Walker came in next but struggled to get off the mark and became another Walmsley victim bowled for 0 (21 balls), 45-5.
Daryl Wearing replaced Walker but again it was Nathan Walmsley who made the breakthrough bowling Nisanth Arun for 13 (37 balls), 60-6, Sam Henderson was Wearing's new partner but was out first ball Nathan Walmsley's fifth wicket bowled for 0. 75-7.
Sajid Khan came to the wicket but with only seven runs added saw Nathan Walmsley mop up the tail taking his sixth and seventh wickets, number six Daryl Wearing bowled for 24 (29 balls)(4x4), 82-8, three balls later Gary Collins was bowled for 0 (3 balls) as Barrow were bowled out for 82 in 26.4 overs.
Nathan Walmsley took 7-15 from 8.4 overs supported by Ryan Maddock 2-19 off 9, Ryan Roberts 1-23 from 6 and Ed Cox 0-21 off 3.
The Penwortham opening pair gave them a good start, Ryan Dimasi was the first man out caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Dikshant Vairagi for 21 (29 balls)(3x4), 42-1. Ryan Roberts was in at three but he soon lost Jonathon Hothersall caught and bowled by Gary Collins for 19 (26 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 48-2.
Joseph Bradshaw was in next but with only three runs added lost Ryan Roberts caught by Daryl Wearing off Gary Collins for 0 (13 balls), 51-2. Harry Bates was the new batsman but two runs later Joseph Bradshaw was caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Dikshant Vairagi for 4 (9 balls), 53-4.
Ryan Maddock joined Bates but lost his partner Harry Bates lbw to Dikshant Vairagi for 10 (15 balls)(1x6), 68-5. Charlie Evans replaced Bates and with Ryan Maddock saw the visitors home on 86-5 in 20.1 overs, Ryan Maddock was 19no (24 balls)(3x4) and Charlie Evans 4no (7 balls).
The Barrow bowling figure were Dickshant Vairagi 3-15 from 6 overs, Gary Collins 2-18 off 5, Jack Singleton 0-4 from 0-1, Liam Walker 0-7 from 1, Sam Henderson 0-14 off 4 and Daryl Wearing 0-23 from 4.
Carnforth v Great Eccleston
Great Eccleston won the toss at Lodge Quarry and decided to bat first, They lost Nisanth Nithian lbw to James Park Johnson for 17 (26 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 23-1. Alexander Rhodes was the visitors number three and with Matthew Lawrenson kept the scoreboard ticking over until Dylan Conroy bowled Alexander Rhodes for 19 (21 balls)(2x4, 1x4), 53-2.
Mohamed Nadeem came to the wicket but disaster for the visitors as Tom Parkinson took two wickets in two balls, he bowled Mohamed Nadeem for 0 (20 balls), 62-3, next ball he bowled Will Thistlethwaite for 0 (1 ball), 62-4.
Joe McMillan replaced Thistlethwaite and with Lawrenson slowly moved the score along, Tom Parkinson again broke the partnership trapping Matthew Lawrenson lbw for 27 (79 balls)(2x4), 85-5. Richard Booth was the new batsman but with only two runs added Richard Booth was out caught by Ryan Nelson off Freddie Whatmuff for 0 ( 8 balls), 87-6.
Will Turnbull came in and with McMillan took the score past the hundred then lost Joe McMillan bowled by Dylan Conroy for 19 (42 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 102-7. Phil Booth joined Turnbull, James Park Johnson returned to the attack and with his second ball had Phil Booth caught by Freddie Whatmuff for 1 (5 balls), 106-8.
Sandeep Giroge was in at ten and with Turnbull moved the score along until he was bowled by James Park Johnson for 15 (13 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 131-9. number eleven was Jacob Proctor and he was last man out caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park Johnson for 4 (11 balls) as Great Eccleston were bowled out for 144 in 42.5 overs with Will Turnbull 23no (28 balls)(2x4).
The Carnforth bowling figures were James Park Johnson 4-34 form 9.5 overs, Tom Parkinson 3-24 off 10, Dylan Conroy 2-48 from 12, Freddie Whatmuff 1-17 off 4, James Parkinson 0-5 from 4 and Alfie Hill 0-9 of 3.
Due to the weather Carnforth were set a revised total 101 fro 34 overs, Freddie Whatmuff and Ryan Nelson made a slow start and on reaching 32 Freddie Whatmuff was caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Jim Proctor for 16 (43 balls), 32-1. James Park Johnson was in at three but was soon out caught Mohamed Nadeem off Alexander Rhodes for 3 (7 balls), 45-2.
Bradley Hoyle was next in but fell in the next over caught by Matthew Lawrenson off Jim Proctor for 0 (4 balls), 46-3. Shane Dixon joined Ryan Nelson and they were approaching the hundred when Shane Dixon was bowled by Alexander Rhodes for 17 (28 balls), 95-4.
Dylan Conroy was the new batsman but he soon became wicket number three for Alexander Rhodes caught by Nisanth Nithian for 5 (9 balls), 110-5. Tom Parkinson replaced Conroy and with Ryan Nelson saw the hosts to victory closing on 120-5 in 34 overs with Ryan Nelson 58no (108 balls)(4x4) and Tom Parkinson 6no (7 balls).
For Great Eccleston Alexander Rhodes took 3-41 from 10 overs, Jim Proctor 2-25 off 12, Mohamed Nadeem 0-11 from 2.1, Nisanth Nithain 0-18 off 3 and Phil Booth 0-22 from 7.
Euxton v Carlisle
Euxton won the toss at Balshaw Park and invited the visitors to take first knock, The opening pair started off brightly but then both fell to Joseph Bowden, Zephania Arinaitwe was out first caught by Ben Houghton for 24 (17 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 36-1, two runs later he had Marc Brown caught by Joseph Barker for 10 (15 balls), 38-2.
We now had two new batsmen Tom Benn and Oliver Spedding, they were going well when disaster struck for the visitors Tom Benn was run out by Hakeem Perryman for 15 (53 balls), 89-3. Ben Davidson was next in but eight runs later lost Oliver Spedding run out by Max Harper for 39 (63 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 97-4.
Alex Raybould came to the wicket but with only two runs added was caught by James Bone off Joseph Bowden for 0 (4 balls), 99-5. Logan Edgar joined Davidson but he became victim number four for Joseph Bowden caught by James Bone for 13 (24 balls)(2x4), 114-6. Brodie Glendinning replaced Edgar and with Davidson were making good progress until Bruce Davidson was out caught by Jack Morgan off Jack Shovelton for 26 (47 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 166-7.
Nico Watt was Glendinning's new partner and they moving the score along nicely when Joseph Bowden claimed his fifth and sixth wickets in three balls, Brodie Glendinning was caught by Max Harper for 39 (36 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 190-8. two balls later he bowled Nico Watt for 11 (9 balls)(1x6), 191-9
Number ten Chris Blythe and eleven Johnny Westgarth saw Carlisle close on 198-9 in 46 overs with Chris Blythe 5no (5 balls) and Johnny Westgarth 3no (4 balls).
The Euxton bowling figures were Joseph Bowden 6-59 from 14 overs, Jack Shovelton 1-44 off 11, Joseph Barker 0-23 from 2, Elliot Mackrael 0-25 off 7 and James Bone 0-46 from 12.
The Euxton reply set off at a run a ball, Chris Blythe broke the partnership having Hakeem Perryman caught by Bruce Davidson for 14 (14 balls)(2x6), 40-1, the host's number three was Ben Houghton but he soon lost Josh Tolley caught by Zephania Arinaitwe off Brodie Glendinning for 27 (32 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 50-2.
James Bone joined Houghton and kept the scoreboard ticking over until Ben Houghton fell lbw to Brodie Glendinning for 23 (27 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 79-4. Max Harper replaced Houghton but seven runs later was bowled by Nico Watt for 4 (10 balls), 79-4.
Jack Morgan was in next but tragedy for the hots he was run out by Nico Watt for 17 (30 balls), 110-5. Jack Shovelton came to the wicket and went on the attack and with James Bone saw Euxton to victory closing on 199-5 in 39.4 overs with James Bone 56no (103 balls)(7x4) and Jack Shovelton 38no (24 balls)(2x4, 4x6).
For Carlisle Brodie Glendinning took 2-34 from 7 overs, Chris Blythe 1-38 off 6, Nico Watt 1-58 from 13.4, Johnny Westgarth 0-23 off 5 and Ben Davidson 0-40 from 8.
Mawdesley v St Annes
St Annes won the toss at Rectory Field and asked the hosts to bat first. The hosts got off to a bad start losing Lee Berrie bowled by Mitch Bolus for 5 (5 balls), 7-1. Aneeq Hassan came in at three and with Nathan Trengove were going well until Mitch Bolus claimed his second wicket Nathan Trengove caught by Ryan Birkman for 31 (25 balls)(5x4), 55-2.
Ben Munslow was in next but was soon out bowled by Promod Maduwantha for 1 (4 balls), 64-3. Fyffe Dennis came to the wicket but he became Mitch Bolus's next victim caught by Thomas Bradley for 4 (15 balls), 73-4.
Daniel Unsworth joined Hassan but one run later was caught by Rory Urquhart off Mitch Bolus for 0 (5 balls), 74-5, Lewis McKinnon replaced Unsworth but soon became Promod Maduwantha's second wicket bowled for 2 (12 balls), 86-6.
Oliver Ellicott was the new batsman and took the score past the hundred when he became Mitch Bolus's fifth wicket caught behind by James Bradley for 14 (27 balls)(2x4), 101-7. Joshua Adamson came to the wicket but fell to the Bradley/Bolus combination, caught behind by James Bradley bowled by Mitch Bolus. 114-8.
Rory Urquhart was brought into the attack and in his second over took the remaining wickets, two in two balls. He bowled Neil O'Malley for 6 (19 balls) 132-9 and next ball bowled number eleven Thomas Andrews for 0 (1 ball) as Mawdesley were 132 all out in 32.3 overs. Aneeq Hassan was 53no (64 balls)(4x4, 2x6).
Mitch Bolus took 6-61 from 14 overs, Rory Urquhart 2-12 off 1.3, Promod Maduwantha 2-37 from 14 and Ryan Birkman 0-21 off 3.
The St Annes reply got off to a bad start losing Lukman Vahaluwala caught by Aneeq Hassan off the second ball off the innings bowled by Joshua Adamson for 0 (2 balls), 0-1. Luke Jardine came in at three but soon became Joshua Adamson's second wicket caught by Lewis McKinnon for 5 (16 balls), 19-2.
Promod Maduwantha joined Nathan Armstrong and with Armstrong leading the way moving the score along, Joshua Adamson broke the partnership having Nathan Armstrong caught by Lewis McKinnon for 32 (27 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 69-2. Thomas Bradley was the new batsman but lost his partner Promod Maduwantha caught by Oliver Ellicott off Joshua Adamson for 10 (48 balls), 83-3.
Nathan Bolus was next in and with Bradley took the score past the hundred when he became Joshua Adamson's fifth wicket caught by Nathan Trengove for 6 (7 balls), 109-5. Alex Urquhart came to the wicket and with Thomas Bradley set about knocking off the runs, this they did closing on 134-5 in 25 overs, Thomas Bradley 36no (29 balls)(3x4, 2x6) and Alex Urquhart 15no
The Mawdesley bowling was Joshua Adamson 5-78 from 13 overs, Neil O'Malley 0-46 off 10 and Lewis McKinnon 0-7 from 2.
The win secures promotion and with Carlisle losing at Euxton the 2nd Division Championship. This is the first season on the new Division 2, St Annes were the first team to win Division 1 in 1952.
Vernon Carus v Thornton Cleveleys
Thornton Cleveleys won the toss at Factory Lane and put the hosts into bat, The innings started badly losing both openers cheaply, Hasan Zaman was caught by Richard Jenkinson off Daniel Howard for 5 (27 balls), 15-1. Will Adams followed four runs later caught behind by Sam Curwen off Joshua Rolinson for 8 (26 balls), 19-2.
Haren Shetty came in at three and Wes Royle four but Haren Shetty was soon out lbw to Daniel Howard got 0 (7 balls), 19-3, Jaxon Cornford was in next but three runs later he was bowled by Joshua Rolinson for 2 (5 balls), 22-4.
David Fisher was the new batsman and with Royle were steadily building the score until Jake Apperley had him caught by Ethan Elphick for 13 (33 balls), 54-4. Robert Bridges joined Royle but did not last long lbw to Joshua Sackfield for 2 (7 balls), 63-6.
Jamie Rigby replaced Bridges but in the next over lost his partner Wes Royle caught behind by Sam Curwen off Jake Apperley for 24 (54 balls)(4x4), 67-7. Ben Thomas came to the wicket but with only six runs added Jamie Rigby was caught behind by Sam Curwen off Jake Apperley for 3 (5 balls), 73-8.
Jacob Holland was next in but was quickly out caught by Cameron Chisholm off Joshua Sackfield for 2 (5 balls), 78-9. Fraser Young was number eleven but lost Ben Thomas bowled by Joshua Sackfiled for 13 (25 balls) as Vernon Carus were bowled out for 87 in 33.3 overs , Fraser Young was 1no (11 balls).
The Thornton Cleveleys bowling figures were Joshua Sackfield 4-21 from 8.4 overs, Daniel Howard 2-7 off 8, Joshua Rolinson 2-22 from 8, Jake Apperley 2-29 off 7 and Cameron Chisholm 0-3 from 2.
The visitors got off to a bad start losing Joshua Sackfield bowled by Jacob Holland for 0 (2 balls), 27-1, Number three was Sam Curwen and with Josh Borrell leading the way were going for the runs, Jacob Holland stuck again bowling Sam Curwen for 7 (16 balls), 47-2, Jacob Sackfield replaced Curwen but disaster for the visitors Jacob Sackfield was run out by Haren Shetty for 5 (21 balls), 75-3.
Joshua Rolinson came to the crease but a few balls later the rains came and the match was abandoned with the visitors on 82-3 in 16.1 overs needing only six runs for victory.
The bowling figures for Vernon Carus were Jacob Holland 2-26 from 8.1 overs, David Fisher 0-25 off 5 and Ben Thomas 0-31 from 3.
The result meant that Vernpon Carus were relegated.
