The Northern Cricket League Review

The Second round of the Northern Premier League 40 over League Cup saw 7 teams with a 100% record, Garstang, Fleetwood, Chorley, Settle Euxton, Leyland and Fulwood & Broughton

There were also wins for Carlisle, Kendal and St Annes.

40 OVER LEAGUE CUP COMPETITION: ROUND 2

Barrow v Euxton

Barrow won the toss at the Ernest Pass ground and invited the visitors to bat first, Josh Tolley and Jack Shovelton came out to bat and gave Euxton a good start, Jack Shovelton was the first to go caught by Matthew Adams off Sam Henderson for 33 (33 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 58-1.

Hackeem Perryman was in at three and with the score approaching the hundred Dikshant Vairagi struck trapping Hackeem Perryman lbw for 14 (14 balls), 98-2

James Bone was the new batsman and with Josh Tolley kept the scoreboard moving along until he was bowled by Dikshant Vairagi for 18 (31 balls), 125-3, Ben Houghton was next in but soon lost Josh Tolley caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Sam Dutton for 57 (74 balls)(5x2, 2x6), 131-4

Max Harper replaced Tolley but lasted only five balls bowled by Gary Collins for 3, 136-5. Joseph Barker came to the wicket but was soon out caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Sajid Khan for5 3 (8 balls), 147-6

Gary Collins quickly dismissed new man Danny Curtis lbw for 0 (4 balls), 148-7. The incoming batsman was Louis Sweeney and with Ben Houghton taking the lead added 63 runs to the total when Louis Sweeney was out stumped by Drew Postlethwaite off Dan Adams for 8 (21 balls), 211-8.

Ben Houghton 72no (46 balls)(3x4, 6x6) and Elliot Mackrael 3no (4 balls) saw the visitors close on 217-8 in their 40 overs.

For Barrow Gary Collins took 2-29 from 7 overs, Dikshant Vairagi 2-33 off 8, Sajid Khan 1-18 from 3, Sam Dutton 1-35 off 8, Dan Adams 1-35 from 3, Sam Henderson 1-36 off 5 and Daryl Wearing 0-28 from 6.

The Barrow opening pair of Drew Postlethwaite and Sam Dutton put the hosts in a strong position until the introduction of Joseph Barker into the attack, he claimed two wickets in his first four balls, Sam Dutton went first caught by James Bone for 96 (75 balls)(11x4, 3x6), 142-1, Number three Dikshant Vairagi was out two balls later caught by Elliot Mackrael for 0, 142-2.

Joseph Barker then removed Drew Postlethwaite caught by James Bone for 37 (98 balls) (3x4), 147-3. There were two new batsmen at the crease Simon Chadd and Jack Singleton, with only six runs added Barker struck again bowling Jack Singleton for 5 (10 balls), 153-4.

Daryl Wearing was in next but soon fell caught by Ben Houghton off Josh Tolley for 5 (11 balls), 160-5. Sam Henderson joined Simon Chadd with 4.4 overs left and 57 runs required, In the 39th over Joseph Barker claimed two wickets in two balls, wicket number five Simon Chadd caught by Josh Tolley 11 (27 balls) 180-6. next ball he bowled Matthew Adams for 0 (1 ball), 180-7.

Dan Adams was the new batsman but lost his partner Sam Henderson caught by James Bone off Josh Tolley for 14 (13 balls)(2x4), 182-8. Sajid Khan 1no (1 ball) and Dan Adams 1no (3 balls) saw Barrow close on 183-8 in their 40 overs.

Joseph Barker lead the way for Euxton with 6-34 from 8 overs, Josh Tolley took 2-18 off 6, Elliot Mackrael 0-19 from 5, Ben Houghton 0-21 off 3, James Bone 0-22 from 8, Joseph Bowden 0-22 off 5 and Louis Sweeney 0-39 from 5.

Fleetwood v Longridge

Longridge won the toss at Broadwater and chose to bat first, they were bowled out for 127 in 37.1 overs, The main contributors being Joshua Mullin 28, Rob Hollinghurst 28 with Luke Platt 17, Taariq Chiecktey 12 and Zac Christie 11.

The wickets were spread around the Fleetwood bowlers, Michael Rippon 2-15 from 8 overs, Tomas King 2-18 off 5, Declan Clerkin 2-23 from 7.1, Will Reader 1-17 off 3, Matthew Siddall 1-18 from 8 and Jeremy Davies 1-31 off 6.

In reply the hosts claimed victory reaching 128-5 in 30.2 overs thanks to Michael Rippon 37no with Andy Drake 23, Jeremy Davies 17, Charlie Clark 12 and Adam Sharrocks 12no.

The Longridge bowling was Gabriel Dowthwaite 2-26 from 7 overs, Henry Proctor 1-18 off 2.2, Tom Howarth 1-26 from 8, Jake Durnell 1-26 off 5 and Kieran McClintock 0-28 from 8

Garstang v Netherfield

Garstang won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and invited the visitors to bat first. Opening for Netherfield were Reece Irving and Ben Barrow but they were soon parted, Reece Irving caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Corey Cater for 6 (8 balls), 10-1.

Cole Mcconchie was in at three and with Barrow moved the score along, Corey Cater struck again bowling Ben Barrow for 10 (24 balls)(2x4), 35-2. John Huck came in next but quickly became victim number three for Corey Cater being caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 2 (4 balls), 47-3.

Richard Everett replaced Huck and with Mcconchie were nearing the century when Tom Higson got the vital wicket of Cole Mcconchie caught by Sumit Ruikar for 64 (58 balls)(6x4, 4x6), 98-4.

Josh Dixon joined Richard Everett and were moving along steadily until Ernie Collinson claimed two wickets in three balls, Richard Everett was out lbw for 27 (62 balls), 127-5, two balls later he bowled Will Beeden for 0 (2 balls), 127-6

Oli Wileman was the new batsman and with Dixon kept the scoreboard ticking over. Corey Cater was reintroduced into the attack and with his first ball bowled Oli Wileman for 7 (15 balls), 149-7.

Isacc Medhurst replaced Wileman but was soon out caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Ernie Collinson for 3 (6 balls), 156-8. New man Josh Wills decided the best form of defence was attack scoring 32 from 14 balls (2x4, 3x6).

Josh Dixon was next out stumped by Matthew Crowther off Ernie Collinson 36 (47 balls)(4x4), 194-9. Matt Jackson was run out by Matthew Crowther off the last ball of the innings for 1 (1 ball)as Netherfield closed on 195 all out in their 40 overs leaving Josh Wills 32no.

For Garstang Corey Cater 4-22 from 8 overs and Ernie Collinson 4-40 off 7 did the damage supported by Tom Higson 1-35 from 8, Sumit Ruikar 0-26 off 8, Ian Walling 0-32 from 4 and Danny Gilbert 0-35 off 5.

In reply the hosts got off to a bad start losing Tom Higson caught by Oli Wileman off Isaac Medhurst for 1 (5 balls), 7-1. Coming in at number three was Joseph Pearson and with Michael Walling taking the lead moved the score along at a good rate. Cole Mcconchie made the breakthrough having Joseph Pearson caught and bowled for 17 (44 balls) (3x4), 71-2.

Mark Walling joined Michael and continued to make progress until Reece Irving had Mark Walling lbw for 15 (25 balls), 113-3. Sumit Ruikar was next in and was scoring freely until he was stumped by Will Beeden off Oli Wileman for 29 (31 balls), 175-4.

That was the last success for the visitors as Michael Walling reached his century and scored the winning runs shortly afterwards as Garstang closed on 196-4 in 36.2 overs with Michael Walling 105no (101 balls)(18x4, 1x6) and Matthew Crowther 11no (12 balls)(2x4).

The Nethefield bowling was Isaac Medhurst 1-15 from 5 overs, Oli Wileman 1-22 off 5, Cole Mcconchie 1-33 from 8, Reece Irving 1-48 off 6.2, Josh Wills 0-29 from 5 and Matt Jackson 0-48 off 7.

Great Eccleston v Chorley

Chorley won the toss at Hall Lane and elected to bat first, Their openng pair of Will Moulton and Miller Childs gave them an outstanding start with an opening partnership of 114 broken when Miller Childs was bowled bySandeep Gorige for 32 (44 balls)(5x4), 114-1.

Edwin Mouton came in next and continued the run fest adding 58 runs, Will Moulton reached his century and was out stumped by Will Thistlethwaite off Alexander Rhodes for 123 (66 balls)(11x4,9x6), 172-2.

Keegan Petersen replaced Moulton and kept up the high score rate, He was out caught by Alexander Rhodes off Muhamed Nadeem for 73 (48 balls)(8x4, 2x6), 313-3.

Maxwell Seedall was next in and with Edwin Moulton saw Chorley close on 366-3 in their 40 overs with Edwin Moulton 110no (72 balls)(14x4, 4x6) and Maxwell Seedall 17no (10 balls)(3x4).

The Great Eccleston bowling was Sandeep Gorige 1-49 from 6 overs, Muhamed Nadeem 1-85 off 8, Alexander Rhodes 1-86 from 7, Matt Moat 0-31 off 3, Phil Booth 0-53 from 8 and Nisanth Nithian 0-60 off 8.

Nisant Nithian and Rishit Sharma came to the wicket hoping to get the home side off to a good start but unfortunately that did not happen, Miller Childs having Rishit Sharma lbw for 0 (3 balls), 8-1.

Alexander Rhodes was in at three and with Nithian set about the big score, they were making good progress until Miller Childs claimed his second victim Alexander Rhodes caught by Keegan Petersen for 24 (27 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 60-2.

New man in Muhamed Nadeem supported Nithian, Keegan Petersen was introduced into an the attack and in his second over had Nishanth Nithian caught by Miller Childs for 48 (31 balls)(6x4, 3x6), 92-3.

Matthew Lawrenson joined Nadeem and continued the run chase, James Lee broke the partnership Muhamed Nadeem caught behind by Ben Simpkins for 30 (40 balls)(4x4,1x6), 136-4.The new batsman was Matt Moat who was out on the first ball he faced caught by Edwin Moulton off Sam Steeple for 0 (1 ball), 151-5

Joe McMillan was in next 14.5 overs left but 230 runs required for victory, He and Matthew Lawrenson continued to go for the runs, Joe McMillan became Miller Childs third wicket caught by James Lee for 61 (36 balls)(12x4), 245-6.

Will Thistlethwaite came to the wicket but soon lost Matthew Lawrenson again a Miller Childs victim caught behind by Ben Simpkins for 76 (89 balls)(10x2, 2x6), 258-7.

Richard Booth was the new batsman but with only five runs added he was stumped by Ben Simpkins off Joseph Tiffin for 4 (7 balls), 263-8, The innings closed with the hosts 267-8 in their 40 overs with Will Thistlethwaite 4no (5 balls) and Sandeep Gorige 4no (1 ball).

Miller Childs took 4-72 from 7 overs, Joseph Tiffin 1-5 off 1, Sam Steeple 1-29 from 8, James Lee 1-31 off 5, Keegan Petersen 1-44 from 8, Edwin Moulton 0-22 off 5 and Maxwell Seedall 0-60 from 6.

Kendal v Blackpool

Kendal won the toss at Shap Road and decided to bat first, Freddie Fallows and Darren Nightingale opened for them, Richard Gleeson struck the first blow for the visitors bowling Darren Nightingale for 19 (20 balls)(3x4), 33-1.

In at three for the hosts was Finlay Richardson who soon lost Freddie Fallows lbw to Ali Usman for 17 (18 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 41-2, the new batsman was Cole Abrahams who soon became Ali Usman's second victim bowled for 4 (15 balls), 47-3.

Bradley Earl came to the wicket and Finlay Richardson moved the score along until Jamie Thomson took two wickets in three balls, he bowled Bradley Earl for 11 (16 balls), 74-4, two balls later he had Lewis Richardson lbw for 0 (22 balls), 74-5/

Sam Sharp joined Richardson and they were approaching the hundred when Jamie Thomson struck again bowling Finlay Richardson for 34 (60 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 99-6. Louis Backhouse was Sam Sharp's new partner and their partnership was 22 when Sam Sharp was caught behind by Ben Howarth off Dylan Henshall for 19 (50 balls), 121-7

The new batsman was Chris Miller but with only nine runs added he was run out by Andrew Needham for 5 (16 balls), 130-8. Taylor Finch came in at ten and saw Matthew Grindley bowl Louis Backhouse for 20 (31 balls)(2x4), 141-9.

Coming in at Eleven was Sarah Earl 1no (1 ball) losing Taylor Finch bowled by Matthew Grindley for 0 (2 balls) as Kendal were bowled out for 142 in 38.3 overs.

The Blackpool bowling was Jamie Thomson 3-18 from 8 overs, Ali Usman 2-18 off 8, Matthew Grindley 2-45 from 6.3, Richard Gleeson 1-16 off 8, Dylan Henshall 1-20 from 5 and Arran Lewin 0-19 off 3

The Blackpool reply did not start well losing Kasim Munir bowled by Sam Sharp for 1 (3 balls), 2-1. Andrew Needham came in at three but lost opener Dylan Henshall lbw to Louis Backhouse for 16 (21 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 19-2.

The new batsman was Matthew Taffe and with Needham had nearly doubled the score when Andrew Needham was caught by Darren Nightingale off Chris Miller for 9 (30 balls), 36-3. Ali Usman joined Taffe but was soon out caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Lewis Richardson for 4 (11 balls), 57-5.

Blackpool were in trouble with Ben Howarth making his way to the wicket, their cause was not helped with the fall of Matthew Taafe bowled by Chris Miller for 21 (46 balls)(2x4), 57-5.

Ben Howarth then saw two wickets fall for one run, new man in Stuart Ashford was bowled by Chris Miller for 7 (14 balls), 65-6, one run later Richard Gleeson was caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Freddie Fallows for 0 (1 ball), 66-7.

Arran Lewin was Ben Howarth's new partner and they set about rebuilding the Blackpool innings taking the score past the hundred, Sam Sharp returned to the attack and in his second over had Arran Lewin caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 6 (23 balls), 105-8.

Any chance of a visitors victory went with the fall of Ben Howarth caught by Freddie Fallows off Sam Sharp for 42 (60 balls), (3x4, 2x6), 113-9.

Matthew Grindley was last man out caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Louis Backhouse for 4 (5 balls) as Blackpool were bowled out for 117 in 35.5 overs with Jamie Thomson 1no (1 ball).

The wickets were shared amongst the Kendal bowlers, Chris Miller 3-17 from 8 overs, Sam Sharp 3-42 off 8, Louis Backhouse 2-17 from 5.5, Freddie Fallows 1-17 off 8 and Lewis Richardson1-23 from 6

Leyland v Mawdesley

Mawdesley won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and invited the hosts to bat first, The Leyland opening pair Karl Cross and Alexander Eyre got them off to a great start broken by Joshua Unsworth bowling Karl Cross for 30 (47 balls)(3x4), 76-1.

Sam Oldham was the next batsman in and with Alexander Eyre took control and were scoring at the good rate, with their partnership at 143 Sam Oldham was out caught by Josua Adamson off Lee Berrie for 75 (72 balls)(7x4, 1x6), 219-2.

As often happens in this great game after a big score both batsmen fall, Alexander Eyre followed two runs later lbw to Aneeq Hassan for 81 (97 bals)(11x4), 221-3. The two new batsmen Luke Hands 21no (13 balls)(3x4) and Ross Bretherton 13no (12 balls) saw Leyland close on 255-3 inntheor 40 overs.

Mawdesley's bowling figures were Lee Berrie 1-35 from 4 overs, Joshua Unsworth 1-36 of 8, Aneeq Hassan 1-57 from 8, Joshua Adamson 0-26 off 4, Kasim Masood 0-27 from 4, Oliver Elliot 0-29 off 8 and Daniel Unsworth 0-42 from 4.

The visitors got off to a bad start losing Ben Munslow bowled by Ross Bretherton for 0 (7 balls), 0-1. Aneeq Hassan joined Fyffe Dennis and they were going well and their partnership was just past the hundred when Fyffe Dennis fell caught by Luke Hands off Will Smith for 40 (56 balls)(2x4, 3x6), 105-2.

Daniel Unsworth was next in and kept the score moving along, Will Smith was again the man to make the breakthrough having Aneeq Hassan caught by Alexander Eyre for 67 (73 balls)(9x4, 1x6), 136-3

Nathan Trengove replaced Hassan but on reaching 10 (15 balls) he was stumped by Adam Sexton off Ned Patterson, 161-3. Only four runs were added to the score when two wickets fell on the same score, Ned Patterson had Lee Berrie caught by Karl Cross for 1 (4 balls), 165-5. Daniel Unsworth was next out caught by Luke Hands off Andrew Jacques for 31 (42 balls), 165-6.

The visitors were behind the clock wanting 90 off six and half overs with only 4 wickets, Kasim Masood and Oliver Elliot had the task, Andrew Jacques struck again, Kasim Masood caught behind by Adam Sextob for 5 (7 balls), 179-7.

Oliver Elliot had a new partner in Joshua Unsworth. Ned Patterson claimed his third victim Oliver Elliot stumped by Adam Sexton for 11 (18 balls), 196-8.

Joshua Adamson was the new batsman and with Unsworth saw Mawdesley close on 218-8 in their 40 overs with Joshua Unsworth 13no (10 bals)(1x4, 1x6) and Joshua Adamson 12no(8 balls).

For Leyland Ned Patterson took 3-49 from 8 overs, Will Smith 2-31 off 8, Andrew Jacques 2-47 from 7, Ross Bretherton 1-31 off 4, Luke Hands 0-12 from 5 and Sam Oldham 0-40 from 8

Penwortham v Carlisle

Penwortham won the toss at Middleforth Green and put the visitors into bat. Carlisle made 223-7 in their 40 overs thanks to Ben Davidson 72no (83 balls)(6x4, 1x6) and Alex Raybould 67 (59 balls)(8x4, 3x6) supported by Nico Watt 18, Zephania Arinaitwe 12 and Tom Benn 12no.

For Penwortham Ryan Maddock took 2-38 from 8 overs, Ryan Roberts 2-66 off 8, Nathan Walmsley 1-30 from 8, Matthew Finnerty 1-42 off 8 and Ashley Billington 1-45 from 8.

In reply Penwortham were bowled out for 149 in 30.2 overs. Jonathan Hothersall top scored with 34 (36 balls)(5x4) with Nathan Walmsley 24 (18 balls) (1x4, 3x6), Ryan Dimasi 23 (14 balls)(1x4, 3x6) Ryan Maddock 16 (36 balls)(2x4) and Ashley Billington 13 (15 balls)(1x4, 1x6).

Ben Purdham did the damage with 4-29 from 8 overs, with Nico Watt 3-20 off 7.2, Johnny Westgarth 2-43 from 8, Michael Slack 1-34 off 4 and Brodie Glendenning 0-18 from 3.

Settle v Carnforth

Carnforth won the toss at the Marshfield ground and chose to bat first, The opening pair were Bradley Hoyle and Freddie Whatmuff and were separated with Bradley Hoyle out caught by Zane Nirodi off Tom Davidson for 12 (32 balls)(3x4), 26-1.

Jaco Beneke was in at three for Carnforth and with Freddie Whatmuff took their partnership to the dreaded "nelson" 111, Tom Davidson claimed his second victim Freddie Whatmuff caught by Benjamin Hulse for 66 (80 balls)((5x4, 4x6), 137-2.)

James Park Johnson was in next scoring at nearly a run a ball until he fell lbw to Amar Ullah for 22 (25 balls), 201-3. Tom Davidson bowled Tom Parkinson for 0 (1 ball), 204-4.

Jaco Benenke reached his century in the 39th over with a six, The Carnforth innings closed on 231-4 in their 40 overs with Jaco Beneke 112no (97 balls)(7x4, 4x6) with Shane Dixon 6no (7 balls).

Tom Davidson took 3-27 from 8 overs with Amar Ullah 1-50 off 8, Benjamin Hulse 0-17 from 2, Gautam Waghela 0-36 off 8, William Vause 0-45 from 8 and William Davidson 0-50 off 6.

The Settle openers Zane Nirodi and John Davidson gave the hosts the best start possible with an opening stand of 154 broken when Zane Nirodi was stumped by Shane Dixon off James Parkinson for 55 (67 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 154-1.

Gautam Waghela came in at three but was soon out caught by Jaco Beneke off James Park-Johnson for 2 (6 balls), 170-2, next in was Amar Ullah who did not fair any better caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Parkinson for 2 (7 balls)174-3.

John Davidson was on 98 (96 balls) (8x4, 4x6) when he was caught by James Park-Johnson off James Parkinson, 177-4. Settle required 55 from 62 balls and James Snowden 26no (34 balls)(3x4) and Tom Davidson 29no (24 balls) (3x4) saw them to victory on 232-4 in 38.5 overs

The Carnforth bowling was James Parkinson 3-38 from 8 overs, James Park-Johnson 1-48 off 8, Sam Woodburn 0-15 from 4, Tom Parkinson 0-23 off 3, Freddie Whatmuff 0-24 from 4, Jack Thompson 0-32 off 4.5 and Jaco Beneke 0-45 from 7.

Thornton Cleveleys v St Annes

St Annes won the toss at Illawalla and invited the hosts to bat first, Joshua Rolinson and Joshua Sackfied opened, Lukman Vahaluwala made the breakthrough taking two wickets in an over, he bowled Joshua Rolinson for 9 (10 balls)(2x4), 21-1, five balls later he trapped Josh Borrell lbw for 0 (5 balls), 21-2.

Richard Jenkinson joined Joshua Sackfield and they had a stand of 51 runs broken by Mitch Bolus having Richard Jenkinson caught by Ryan Birkman for 20 (44 balls), (3x4, 1x6), 72-3

The new batsman was Cameron Chisholm who was quickly out bowled by Alex Urquhart for 0 (3 balls), 73-4, Jacob Sackfield was next in but became wicket number three for Lukman Vahaluwala lbw for 0 (3 balls), 79-5.

Daniel Howard replaced Sackfield but on reaching 8 (14 balls)(2x4) he was caught by Nathan Bolus off Joshua Holden, 92-6. Sam Curwen was Joshia Sackfield's new partner and had put on 50 runs when Sam Curwen was caught and bowled by Ryan Birkman for 12 (22 balls)(2x4), 142-7.

Joshua Sackfield had been holding the innings together but he now departed caught by Joshua Holden off Rory Urquhart for 78 (101 balls)(10x4, 3x6), 147-8.

There were five overs left with Jake Applerley and Ethan Elphick at the crease, They took the score to 180 when both were out, Ethan Elphick went first caught by Christopher Wilson off Rory Urquhart for 9 (12 balls)(1x6),180-9, In the next over Ryan Birkman bowled Jake Applerley for 21 (17 balls)(2x4, 1x6). Thornton Cleveleys were 180 all out in 38.3 overs. Anthony Ellison was 0no (3 balls).

The wickets were shared amongst the St Annes bowlers lead by Lukman Vahaluwala 3-18 from 8 overs, Ryan Birman 2-20 off 3.3, Rory Urquhart 2-36 from 7, Joshua Holder 1-20 off 4, Mitch Bolus 1-39 from 8 and Alex Urquhart 1-39 off 8.

St Annes got off to a bad start losing Nathan Armstrong in the first over caught by Richard Jenkinson off Daniel Howard for 0 (3 balls), 0-1.

Lukman Vahaluwla was in at three for St Annes and was the next to fall caught behind by Sam Curwen off Joshua Rolinson for 10 (7 balls)(2x4), 13-2. Joshua Holden came in next but lost Christopher Wilson bowled by Joshua Rolinson for 6 (22 balls), 22-3.

Luke Jardine was in next but with only two runs added Daniel Howard trapped Joshua Holden lbw for 5 (17 balls), 24-4. Ashton Charles replaced Holden and with Luke Jardine had a century partnershp broken when Jake Apperley bowled Luke Jardine for 50 (70 balls)(9x4), 125-5.

Vernon Carus v Fulwood & Broughton

Jaxon Cornford was the new batsman and with Wes Royle were approaching the two hundred when he was out caught by Cameron Port off Jon Fenton for 43 (30 balls)(2x4, 5x6), 193-3.

Matthew Timms came in with six overs to go and soon became wicket number two for Fenton caught by Muhammad Zaid for 8 (6 balls), 209-4, Robert Bridges replaced Timms and was another Fenton victim caught by Lewis Wellings for 5 (4 balls), 223-5.

The was the last success for the visitors as Vernon Carus closed on 251-5 in their 40 overs with Wes Royle 45no (52 balls)(4x4) and Muhammad Zaid 13no (9 balls)(1x4, 1x6).

The Fulwood & Broughton bowling was Jon Fenton 3-57 from 8 overs, Lewis Wellings 1-19 off 4, Cameron Port 1-45 from 7, Marcus Allen 0-24 off 5, Ewen Mansford 0-31 from 6, Rashid Wakman 0-32 off 4 and Chris Brookes 0-38 from 6.

The visitors got off to a bad start losing Ewen Mansford bowled by Muhammad Patel in the first over for 4 (6 balls), 6-1. Ben Parkinson was the new batsman and with Matt Smith leading the way. the run rate was nearly a run a ball, Kashif Jamil broke the partnership bowling Ben Parkinson for 24 (35 balls)(4x4), 72-2.

James McWilliam joined Smith and they kept up the run rate Matt Smith reached his century, 22 runs were needed when James McWilliam was caught by Matthew Timms off Muhammad Patel for 65 (72 balls)(8x4, 2x6), 230-3.

Muhammad Zaid was in next and saw his partner Matt Smith hit eighteen runs off five balls to claim victory on 254-3 in 37.2 overs, Matt Smith was 127no (104 balls)(19x4, 4x6) and Muhammad Zaid 6no (9 balls).

For Vernon Carus Muhammad Patel took 2-43 from 7 overs, Kashif Jamil 1-50 off 8, Ian Dunn 0-22 from 3.2, Matthew Timms 0-30 off 5, Ben Thomas 0-32 from 2, Jacob Holland 0-33 off 7 and Jaxon Cornford 0-37 from 5.
