The Northern Cricket League Review

The Northern Premier League 2025 season Round 7, the weather once again resulted in matches playing reduced overs, fortunately only one was abandoned, Leaders Garstang lost to Chorley and Kendal won against Longridge to close the gap

There were also wins for Leyland and Settle with the Netherfield v Fleetwood match abandoned.

In Divison 2 St Annes continue their winning ways making it seven out of seven, Carlisle stay second with their win against Vernon Carus, Euxton Penwortham and Thornton Cleveleys were the other winners.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 7

Blackpool v Leyland

Leyland won the toss at Stanley Park in a 96 over match and elected to bat first, Karl Cross and Reiss Carrington opened and gave the visitors a good start, the introduction of spin into the attack saw Ali Usman bowl Karl Cross fro 33 (52 balls)(8x4), 56-1.

Sam Oldham came in at three but lost Reiss Carrington bowled by Joshua Boyne for 19 (49 balls)(3x4), 57-2, Luke Hands was next in but lost Sam Oldham without addition to the score caught by Andrew Needham off Ali Usman for 0 (8 balls), 57-3.

Lloyd Tennant was the new batsman but fell cheaply lbw to Joshua Boyne for 5 (14 balls), 68-4. Ali Usman struck with two wickets in two balls, Luke Hands caught by Andrew Needham for 13 (36 balls), 86-5, the incoming batsman Ned Patterson fell first ball caught by Kasim Munir for 0 (1 ball), 86-6.

The two new batsmen at the wicket were Jacob Wright and Ross Bretherton and they took on the task of rebuilding the innings, Jamie Thomson made the breakthrough with two wickets in four balls, bowled Ross Bretherton for 28 (38 balls)(3x4), 150-7, three balls later next Will Smith was caught by Joshua Boyne for 0 (3 balls), 150-8.

Andrew Jacques came to the wicket with two overs to go and was bowled by Jamie Thomson in the last over for 8 (6 balls)(2x4), 164-9. Adam Sexton was in at eleven with one ball to go, Leyland closed their innings on 164-9 in 48 overs with Jacob Wright 50no (81 balls)(4x4) and Adam Sexton 0no (1 ball).

For Blackpool Ali Usman took 4-34 from 15 overs, Jamie Thomson 3-50 off 11, Joshua Boyne 2-47 from 15, Arran Lewin 0-14 off 5 and Dylan Henshall 0-17 from 2.

The Blackpool reply got off to a disastrous start Andrew Needham run out by Reiss Carrington in the second over for 0 (2 balls), 4-1, Joshua Boyne came in at three, Reis Carrington then ran out Kasim Munir for 7 (25 balls), 13-2.

Ali Usman joined Boyne and they steadily moved the score along until Ross Bretherton bowled Joshua Boyne for 15 (32 balls)(2x4), 26-3. Matthew Taaffe was the new batsman, disaster struck for the hosts losing three wickets with the score on 32, Matthew Taaffe was caught by Jacob Wright off Ned Patterson for 1 (22 balls), 32-4, Ali Usman was next out caught behind by Adam Sexton off Ross Bretherton for 5 (38 balls), 32-5, finally Dylan Henshall was caught by Karl Cross off Ned Patterson for 0 (5 balls), 32-6.

Jake Muncaster and Ben Howarth were given the task to pick up the pieces, they had nearly doubled the score when Ben Howarth was bowled by Sam Oldham for 7 (34 balls), 58-7. the new batsman was Stuart Ashford but with only four runs added lost Jake Muncaster caught by Ned Patterson off Andrew Jacques for 9 (16 balls), 62-8.

Arran Lewin was next in, the Blackpool innings came to a close with the last two wickets falling on the same score, Stuart Ashford was caught and bowled by Andrew Jacques for 9 (16 balls), 73-9, Arran Lewin followed caught behind by Adam Sexton off Sam Oldham for 0 (12 balls), 93 all out, leaving Jamie Thomson 0no (1 ball).

Four bowlers took two wickets and there was two run outs, Andrew Jacques took 2-11 from 4 overs, Sam Oldham 2-12 off 4.3, Ned Patterson 2-15 from 12, Ross Bretherton 2-20 off 15 and Will Smith 0-14 from 2.

Chorley v Garstang

Garstang won the toss at Windsor Park and invited the hosts to bat first, Miller Childs and Stuart Naden came out but were parted when Miller Childs was caught by Sumit Ruikar off Ian Walling for 10 (19 balls)(2x4), 21-1.

The Chorley number three was Edwin Moulton and with Stuart Naden were going well until Sturt Naden was out caught by M Walling off Sumit Ruikar for 15 (72 balls), 94-2. Keegan Petersen joined Edwin Moulton, Ian Walling claimed his second wicket Edwin Moulton lbw for 52 (78 balls)(8x4, 1x6), 122-3.

Maxwell Seedall was the next in, disaster struck for the hosts with Keegan Petersen run out by Corey Cater for 14 (25 balls)(1x6), 133-4. Will Moulton was the new batsman but was soon out caught by Joe Barlow off Ian Walling for 3 (8 balls), 145-5.

Joseph Tiffin was the incoming batsman and was the next wicket to fall stumped by Matthew Crowther off Sumit Ruikar for 13 (15 balls)(2x4), 166-6. James Dunn joined Maxwell Seedall and with the score approaching the two hundred Joe Barlow was introduced into the attack and in his first over had James Dunn caught by Ian Walling for 7 (12 balls), 193-7

Ben Simpkins replaced Dunn, Danny Gilbert was brought into the attack and in his first over had Ben Simpkins caught by Joseph Pearson for 0 (1 ball), 194-8.

Sam Steeple was Maxwell Seedall's new partner and became Danny Gilbert's second wicket bowled for 2 (8 balls), 209-9. in at eleven was Matt Dawson, Maxwell Seedall was out on the last ball of the innings caught by Ernie Collinson off Joe Barlow for 52 (78 balls)(5x4, 1x6) as Chorley were bowled out for 215 in their 50 overs with Matt Dawson 2no (3 balls).

The Garstang bowling figures were Ian Walling 3-52 from 15, Danny Gilbert 2-20 off 6, Joe Barlow 2-22 from 3, Sumit Ruikar 2-45 off 15, Tom Higson 0-15 from 2 and Corey Cater 0-45 off 9.

Garstang got off to a good start with 46 on the board when Michael Walling fell bowled by Sam Steeple for 17 (32 balls)(4x4), 46-1.

Joseph Pearson was in at three but with only ten runs added Miller Childs calimed two wickets in the over, Tom Higson was the first to go caught by Maxwell Seedall for 10 (35 balls), 56-2, four balls later Mark Walling was bowled for 0 (4 balls), 56-3.

Sumit Ruikar was the new batsman and with Pearson had the scoreboard ticking over until Miller Childs claimed his third wicket Joseph Pearson lbw for 16 (23 balls)(3x4), 71-4.

Matthew Crowther joined Sumit Ruikar and they had doubled the score and were going well, Joseph Tiffin was brought into the attack and with his third ball bowled Sumit Ruikar for 30 (49 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 145. Ernie Collinson was next in but was soon out caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Sam Steeple for 6 (10 balls), 162-6.

Matthew Crowther had a new partner in Ian Walling but was wicket number three for Sam Stepple bowled for 1 (5 balls), 172-7, Danny Gilbert replaced Walling but fell lbw to Edwin Moulton for 3 (10 balls), 186-8.

Corey Cater came to the wicket but was quickly out bowled by Sam Steeple for 1 (3 balls), 187-9. Garstang were bowled out for 192 in 45.2 overs when Miller Childs bowled Joe Barlow for 0 (7 balls) leaving Matthew Crowther 57no (96 balls)(9x4, 1x6).

Miller Childs and Sam Steeple did the damage, Miller Childs 4-10 from 6.2 overs, Sam Steeple 4-57 off 15, Joseph Tiffin 1-7 from 3, Edwin Moulton 1-30 off 10, Keegan Petersen 0-19 from 4, James Dunn 0-19 off 3 and Matt Dawson 0-28 from 4.

Fulwood & Broughton v Settle

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at the Highfield ground and decided to bat first, they got off to a terrible start losing four wickets for three runs, three on the same score.

Gautam Waghela was the man doing the damage, he had Matt Smith caught behind by Noah Smith for 9 (9 balls)(2x4), 11-1. Ben Parkinson came in at three, Gautam Waghela took two wickets in two balls, Ewen Mansford caught by Will Vause for 1 (22 balls), 14-2, next in was Ben Rosbottom out first ball bowled for 0 (1 ball), 14-3. Simon Kerrigan was in next but lost Ben Parkinson caught by GautamWaghela off William Davidson for 2 (17 balls), 14-4.

James McWilliam replaced Parkinson but lost Simon Kerrigan for 7 (20 balls) bowled by William Davidson, 27-5, Parshwa Panchwatkar joined Mc William and they began to rebuild the innings, they took the score past 50 only for both to fall, Gautam Waghela removed both men in the same over, James McWilliam was caught by Benjamin Hulse for 14 (32 balls)(2x4), 51-6, three balls later he took his fifth wicket Parshwa Panchwatkar lbw for 8 (23 balls), 52-7.

We now had two new batsmen Muhammad Zaid and Cameron Port and they went on the attack, their partnership was 71 when Cameron Port was stumped by Noah Smith off Amar Ullah for 35 (55 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 123-8. Mayank Singh came in at ten and with Muhammad Zaid continued to move the score along, Amar Ullah broke the partnership having Mayank Singh caught behind by Noah Smith for 20 (17 balls)(2x6), 167-9.

Fulwood & Broughton were bowled out for 182 in 44.4 overs when Muhammad Zaid was caught by James Snowden off Amar Ullah for 57 (68 balls)(3x4, 4x6) leaving Kahili Patel 4no (5 balls).

Gautam Waghela took 5-38 from 14 overs, Amar Ullah 3-47 off 8.4, William Davidson 2-33 from 12, Will Vause 0-15 off 5 and Eddy Read 0-35 from 5.

Settle did not get off to the best of starts losing Benjamin Hulse caught by Cameron Port off Kahlil Petal for 1 (13 balls), 11-1, the number three was Zane Nirodi and with William Davidson were moving at a good rate, Simon Kerrigan was introduced into the attack and with his first ball had William Davidson caught behind by James McWilliam for 28 (23 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 33-2.

The new batsman was Gautam Waghela and with Nirodi continued to make good progress, Cameron Port made the breakthrough Zane Nirodi caught by Ben Rosbottom for 34 (48 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 84-3, Amar Ullah was the new batsman and with Waghela were beginning to look dangerous, Kahlil Patel broke the partnership bowling Gautam Waghele for 57 (62 balls)(5x4, 2x6), 144-4.

The incoming player was John Davidson but did not last long lbw too Simon Kerrigan for 4 (12 balls), 175-6, Victory was in sight for the visitors but the hosts did not give up, new man in Harvey Green was next out caught by Matt Smith off Kahlil Patel for 1 (15 balls), 179-7.

Eddy Read came to the wicket but with the scores level was caught by Kahlil Patel off Cameron Port for 0 (5 balls), 182-8, Mayank Singh bowled a wide and so Settle won on 183-8 in 44.1 overs with Amar Ullah 42no (56 balls)(5x4, 1x6) and Noah Smith 0no (did not face a ball).

The Fulwood & Broughton bowling was Simon Kerrigan 3-53 from 15 overs, Kahlil Patel 3-56 off 15, Cameron Port 2-48 from 11 and Mayank Singh 0-35 off 3.1.

Longridge v Kendal

Kendal won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground in a 48 over match and asked the hosts to bat first, they got off to a terrible start losing Taariq Chiecktey caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Sam Sharp for 0 (2 balls) off the second ball of the innings, 0-1.

Luke Platt was the Longridge number three but soon lost Joshua Mullin caught by Maximus Winskill off Louis Backhouse for 12 (18 balls)(3x4), 14-2. Zac Christie was the new batsman and with Luke Platt moved the score along at five an over until in Freddie Fallow's second over he had Luke Platt caught by Darren Nightingale for 20 (42 balls)(3x4), 44-3.

Zach Proctor joined Zac Christie but was quickly out caught by Freddie Fallows off Louis Backhouse for 1 (12 balls), 52-4, next man in Tom Howarth did not fare any better bowled by Christopher Miller for 1 (10 balls), 52-5.

Zac Christie had a new partner in Rhys Morgan who went on the attack moving the score along until the last over when Rhys Morgan was caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Sam Sharp for 36 (27 balls)(1x4, 4x6), 102-6.

Kieran McClintock came in with three balls to go, Longridge closed their 24 over innings on 106-6, Zac Christie was 29no (31 balls)(3x4, 1x6) and Kieran McClintock 3no (2 balls).

All the Kendal bowlers took a wicket, Sam Sharp 2-24 from 6 overs, Louis Backhouse 2-29 off 8, Christopher Miller 1-23 from 3 and Freddie Fallows 1-29 off 7.

The Kendal openers Freddie Fallows and Darren Nightingale were parted in the second over Freddie Fallows caught by Rhys Morgan off Ollie Mullin for 13 (10 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 14-1.

Finlay Richardson came in at three but with only two runs added was caught by Rhys Morgan off Jonathan Millward for 0 (5 balls), 16-2, Cole Abrahams joined Darren Nightingale and they were scoring at six an over, Ollie Mullin struck with two wickets in two balls, Darren Nightingale caught by Jonathan Millward for 13 (14 balls)(2x4), 37-3, next ball he bowled Maximus Winskill for 0 (1 ball), 37-4.

Bradley Earl replaced Winskill but shortly afterwards Ollie Mullin repeated two wickets in two balls, he trapped Bradley Earl lbw for 9 (8 balls), 53-6, next ball he claimed his fifth wicket James Bowman was caught by Kieran McClintock for 0 (1 ball), 53-6.

Harry Temperton was the new batsman and with Cole Abrahams leading the way saw Kendal reach their target 107-6 in 22.3 overs, Cole Abrahams 48no (55 balls)(3x4, 1x6) and Harry Temperton 10 no (45 balls).

Ollie Mullin took 5-34 from 8 overs, Jonathan Millward 1-26 off 4, Gabriel Dowthwaite 0-3 from 1, Tom Howarth 0-7 off 1.3, Zach Protor 0-10 from 2 and Kieran McClintock 0-25 off 6.

Netherfield v Fleetwood

Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and put the visitors into bat in a 58 over game, Fleetwood got off to a bad start losing Tomas King caught by Matt Jackson off Josh Wills for 0 off the first ball of the game, 0-1.

Harry McAleer was in at three and lead the way, opener Jeremy Davies was next out in the eighth over caught behind by Will Beeden off Matt Jackson for 1 (24 balls), 27-2.

Michael Rippon came to the wicket and with McAleer kept the scoreboard ticking over, their partnership was 62 when Harry McAleer was caught by Isaac Medhurst off Oli Wileman for 29 (57 balls), 89-3, Declan Clerkin was the new batsman and supported Rippon until he was out caught by John Huck off Cole Mcconchie for 11 (12 balls)(2x4), 102-4.

Charlie Clark was next in but after two balls he was stumped by Will Beeden off Cole Mcconchie for 1 (2 balls), 104-5. Adam Sharrocks was the new batsman and he gave Rippon the strike, Cole Mcconchie claimed his third wicket Adam Sharrocks caught by Reece Irving for 9 (8 balls), 114-6.

Michael Rippon's new partner was Hassan Mughai who was run out in the last over for 1 (1 ball), 123-7. Woody Wilson came to the wicket but did not face a ball as Fleetwood closed on 128-7 in their 29 overs with Michael Rippon 53no (69 balls)(5x4, 1x6).

The Netherfield bowling was Cole Mcconchie 3-34 from 8 overs, Josh Wills 1-14 off 3, Matt Jackson 1-17 from 6, Oi Wileman 1-39 off 7 and Isaac Medhurst 0-20 from 5.

Reece Irving and Ben Barrow gave the hosts a good start, Matthew Siddall bowled Ben Barrow for 11 (13 balls), in the fourth over, 28-1. Cole Mcconchie was in next but was quickly out bowled by Declan Clerkin for 0 (5 balls), 35-2.

John Huck joined Irving and they continued the chase, Jeremy Davies broke the partnership bowling Reece Irving for 21 (33 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 60-3. Josh Dixon came to the wicket but 10 balls later the game was abandoned with Netherfield 62-3 in 14 overs with John Huck 25no (27 balls)(2x4, 1x6) and Josh Dixon 1no (7 balls).

Fleetwood only used three bowlers Matthew Siddall 1-13 from 6 overs, Jeremy Davies 1-18 off 3 and Declan Clerkin 1-31 from 5.

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 7

Barrow v St Annes

Barrow won the toss at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground in a 92 over game and put the visitors into bat, Nathan Armstrong and Lukman Vahaluwala gave them a good start, Lukman Vahaluwala was the first out caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Daryl Wearing for 31 (35 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 68-1.

The St Annes number three was Jevan Isidore who was quickly out caught by Sam Dutton off Daryl Wearing for 4 (3 balls), 72-2, Promod Maduwantha came in but soon lost Nathan Armstrong caught by Jack Singleton off Daryl Wearing for 35 (37 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 83-3.

Luke Jardine joined Maduwantha and they took the score past the hundred only for three wickets to fall for two runs, Luke Jardine was the first to go caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Dikshant Vairagi for 11 (29 balls)(2x4), 114-4, one run later new batsman Nathan Bolus was caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Daryl Wearing for 0 (3 balls), 115-5, Ashton Charles replaced Bolus and was out caught by Toby Mowat off Dikshant Vairagi for 0 (10 balls), 116-6.

Thomas Bradley was the next in and with Maduwantha were going well until Thomas Bradley was bowled by Simon Chadd for 30 (50 balls), 171-7. The incoming batsman was Alex Urquhart, he had made 12 in 15 balls when he was stumped by Drew Postlethwaite off Sam Dutton. 206-8.

Rory Urquhart was the new batsman with one ball to go which he hit for six as St Annes closed on 212-8 in their 46 overs, Promod Maduwantha was 70no (94 balls)(6x4) and Rory Urquhart 6no (1 ball).

For Barrow Daryl Wearing took 4-36 from 14 overs, Dikshant Vairagi 2-33 off 14, Sam Dutton 1-21 from 3, Simon Chadd 1-34 off 4, Gary Collins 0-25 from 6 and Sam Henderson 0-49 off 5.

Barrow got off to a steady start but lost Drew Postlethwaite caught by Thomas Bradley off Mitch Bolus for 20 (14 balls)(3x4), 21-1. Sam Dutton was in at three and with Simon Chadd moved the score along until Sam Dutton fell caught by Lukman Vahaluwala off Mitch Bolus for 20 (34 balls)(4x4), 60-2.

Dikshant Vairagi was the new batsman but was out with only three runs added caught behind by Jevan Isidore off Rory Urquhart for 1 (7 balls), 63-3. Toby Mowat came to the wicket and with Simon Chad were making good progress until the introduction of Promod Maduwantha into the attack, with his second and third balls he had Simon Chadd lbw for 26 (59 balls)(3x4), 94-4. next ball new man Jack Singleton was caught by Thomas Bradley for 0 (1 ball), 94-5.

The incoming batsman was Cameron McDougall who soon fell lbw to Promod Maduwantha for 8 (10 balls)(2x4), 107-6. Daryl Wearing joined Toby Mowat but was Promod Maduwantha's next victim bowled for 1 (5 balls), 116-7.

Sam Hendersom replaced Wearing but he soon became Promod Mauwantha's fifth wicket lbw for 0 (14 balls), 130-8. Dan Adams was Mowat's next partner and held one end with Toby Mowat going for the runs, disaster struck for the hosts when Toby Mowat was caught by Promod Maduwantha off Lukman Vahaluwala for 67 (67 balls)(6x4, 2x6), 158-9.

Dan Adams and number eleven Gary Collins kept up the fight but the fight back ended with Dan Adams caught by Mitch Bolus off Lukman Vahaluwala for 13 (39 balls)(1x6) as Barrow were bowled out for 169 in 44.4 overs, Gary Collins was 2no (21 balls).

Promod Maduwantha took 5-16 from 8, Lukman Vahaluwala 2-41 off 12.4, Mitch Bolus 2-54 from 14, Rory Urquhart 1-42 off 6 and Alex Urquhart 0-13 from 4.

Carlisle v Vernon Carus

Carlisle won the toss at Edenside in a 76 over match and asked the visitors to take first knock, they got off to a very bad start losing three wickets for eight runs, Haren Shetty was out in the second over caught by Alex Raybould off Kieran Grimshaw for 0 (2 balls), 0-1.

Wes Royle was in at three, opener Ian Dunn fell caught behind by Tom Benn off Kieran Grimshaw for 3 (36 balls), 8-2, Wes Royle followed without addition to the score caught behind by Tom Benn off Ben Purdham for 5 (41 balls),8-3.

We now had to new batsmen at the wicket Jaxon Cornford and Robert Bridges, they were slowly rebuilding the innings when Chris Blythe trapped Robert Bridges lbw for 11 (34 balls), 34-4. Jamie Rigby was the new batsman, Kieran Grimshaw struck claiming two wickets in one over, Jaxon Cornford was caught by Brodie Glendinning for 20 (53 balls), 50-5, five balls later next in Matthew Sexton was caught by Ben Purdham for 0 (5 balls), 50-6.

Muhammad Patel replaced Sexton, he became Kieran Grimshaw's fourth wicket bowled for 0 (12 balls), 56-7. Jacob Holland came to the wicket and with Jamie Rigby saw Vernon Carus close on 70-7 in their 38 overs with Jamie Rigby 17no (31 balls)(2x4, 1x6) and Jacob Holland 6no (15 balls).

Kieran Grimshaw took 4-31 from 13 overs, Ben Purdham 2-8 off 8, Chris Blythe 1-18 from 6 and Nico Watt 0-10 off 11.

Carlisle got off to a steady start needing a revised 79 from 38 overs lost Tom Benn caught by Ian Dunn off Jacob Holland for 8 (26 balls), 19-1, Number three Brodie Glendinning and Marc Brown upped the score rate and were in sight of victory when Marc Brown was run out by Kashif Jamil for 31 (36 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 68-2.

There was a scare for the hosts losing three wickets for two runs, Fraser Young had Brodie Gledinning lbw for 29 (32 balls)(3x4), 72-3, new man Kieran Grimshaw was run out by Haren Shetty for 1 (4 balls), 74-4, Oliver Spedding was out lbw to Fraser Young for 1 (6 balls), 74-5.

Ben Davidson hit a four to give victory to the hosts as they closed on 82-5 in 19.3 overs, Ben Davidson was 6no (7 balls and Logan Edgar 2no (6 balls).

The Vernon Carus bowling was Fraser Young 2-22 from 5.3 overs, Jacob Holland 1-18 off 8, Ian Dunn 0-11 from 1, Kashif Jamil 0-13 off 1 and Muhammad Patel 0-18 from 4

Carnforth v Penwortham

Penwortham won the toss at Lodge Quarry and invited the hosts to bat first, They got off to a bad start losing both openers early, Freddie Whatmuff was caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Maddock for 0 (15 balls), 6-1. fellow opener Ryan Nelson quickly followed run out by Harish Hamsa for 5 (16 balls), 9-2.

The two new batsmen were Bradley Hoyle and James Park-Johnson and they steadily built up the score until Bradley Hoyle fell caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Roberts for 13 (24 balls)(3x4), 38-3, Dylan Conroy was next in but with only nine runs added he was caught by Nathan Walmsley off Ryan Roberts for 8 (8 balls)(2x4), 47-4.

Shane Dixon joined Park-Johnson and they were going well until Shane Dixon fell lbw to Charlie Parker for 14 (34 balls)(2x4), 94-5, Parker then took the vital wicket of James Park- Johnson stumped by Robbie Sumner for 38 (64 balls)(5x4), 98-6.

Jaco Beneke and Zack Dodds had the task of rebuilding the innings, they were making good progress when Jaco Beneke was caught by Ryan Dimasi off Ashit Jariwala for 29 (22 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 140-7, Tom Parkinson replaced Beneke but lost Zack Dodds caught by Ryan Dimasi off Nathan Walmsley for 18 (27 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 145-8.

Next in was Romario Branthwaite but he soon fell caught by Ryan Maddock off Ashif Jariwala for 6 (13 balls), 158-9. The Carnforth innings closed two runs later on 160 all out in 38.3 overs with Tom Parkinson caught by Harish Hamsa off Nathan Walmsley for 7 (10 balls), James Parkinson was 1no (2 balls).

The wickets were shared amongst the Penwortham bowlers, Charlie Parker 2-19 from 3 overs, Ashit Jariwala 2-22 off 4, Nathan Walmsley 2-38 from 9.3, Ryan Roberts 2-41 off 10 and Ryan Maddock 1-36 from 12.

The Penwortham reply followed that of the hosts losing both openers early, Ryan Dimasi was caught and bowled by James Park-Johnson for 0 (5 balls) in the first over, 0-1.

Jonathon Hothersall was in at three but lost Robbie Sumner caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park-Johnson for 5 (11 balls), 9-2, Ryan Maddock came in next and they steadily built up the score, Jonathon Hothersall was the next man out caught and bowled by Freddie Whatmuff for31 (49 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 60-3.

Joseph Bradshaw replaced Hothersall but with only ten runs added he was out caught by Romaria Branthwaite off Freddie Whatmuff for 5 (10 balls), 70-4. Charlie Parker came to the wicket and with Maddock were in sight of victory when Tom Parkinson had Ryan Maddock caught by James Park-Johnson for 45 (95 balls)(3x4), 152-5.

Harish Hamsa was Parker's new partner and they saw Penwortham over the line on 161-5 in 36.3 overs, Charlie Parker was 63no (49 balls)(3x4, 4x6) and Harish Hamsa 4no (1 ball).

James Park-Johnson took 2-41 from 8.3 overs, Freddie Whatmuff 2-47 off 10, Tom Parkinson 1-8 from 1, James Parkinson 0-21 off 7 and Dylan Conroy 0-44 from 10.

Euxton v Great Eccleston

Euxton won the toss at Balshaw Park and elected to bat first, Josh Tolley and Max Harper gave them a very good start, Jim Proctor made the breakthrough having Max Harper lbw for 12 (36 balls), 44-1.

James Bone was the man coming in at three and with Tolley scoring at a good run rate, their partnership was 136 when James Bone was out lbw to Muhammed Fazil for 78 (83 balls)(12x4, 1x6), 180-2. Hakeem Perryman came in next and they took the score past the two hundred when Josh Tolley was caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Mohammed Fazil for 92 (114 balls)(6x4, 2x6), 201-3.

Ben Houghton was the new batsman but was quickly out caught by Nisanth Nithian off Alexander Rhodes for 0 (1 ball), 204-4, Jack Morgan replaced Houghton, they were keeping the scoreboard ticking over until Hakeem Perryman fell lbw to Mohammed Fazil for 18 (27 balls), 224-4.

Joseph Barker replaced Perryman, Mohammed Fazil bowled the last over and had Jack Morgan caught by Alexander Rhodes for 20 (33 balls), 247-6, the incoming batsman was Tom Carter who took a run and saw Joseph Barker out next ball caught by Joe McMillan for 11 (10 balls), Louis Sweeney was in at nine and saw Euxton close on 251-7 on their 50 overs, Tom Carter was 3no (2 balls) and Louis Sweeney 1no (1 ball).

Mohammed Fazil took 5-32 from 8 overs, Jim Proctor 1-25 off 10, Alexander Rhodes 1-78 from 14, Will Turnbull 0-33 off 5, Phil Booth 0-36 from 7 and Mohamed Nadeem 0-37 off 6.

Great Eccleston pair Nisanth Nithian and Mattew Lawrenson got off to a good start, they were going well until Matthew Lawrenson was run out by Joseph Barker for 18 (37 balls)(2x4), 47-1.

Alexander Rhodes was the visitors number three and was making good progress when they were both out in consecutive balls, Nisanth Nithian fell lbw to Joseph Barker for 47 (71 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 87-2, next ball Alexander Rhodes was stumped by Jack Morgan off Louis Sweeney for 16 (15 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 87-3.

The two new batsmen were Mohammed Fazil and Rishit Sharma and they took the score to one hundred when Joseph Barker had Mohammed Fazil lbw for 8 (12 balls), 100-4, Mohamed Nadeem replaced Fazil but with the score on nelson Rishit Sharma was lbw to James Bone for 14 (32 balls)(2x4), 111-5.

Will Thistlethwaite came to the wicket but was soon out caught by Joseph Bowden off James Bone for 2 (14 balls), 117-7. Will Turbull joined Joe McMillan but he became James Bone's third wicket caught and bowled for 5 (14 balls), 138-8.

Phil Booth was in at ten but soon became victim number four for Joseph Barker caught behind by Jack Morgan for 7 (18 balls), 157-9. Number eleven was Jim Proctor but the Great Eccleston innings closed on 169 all out in 46.3 overs with Joe McMillan caught by Ben Houghton off Joseph Barker for 37 (53 balls)(4x4, 1x6) with Jim Proctor 1no (8 balls).

For Euxton Joseph Barker took 4-42 from 11.3 overs, James Bone 3-45 off 15, Louis Sweeney 1-12 from 4, Tom Carter 1-27 off 5, Ben Houghton 0-5 from 2 and Joseph Bowden 0-34 off 9.

Mawdesley v Thornton Cleveleys

Mawdesley won the toss at Rectory Field and chose to bat first, Fyffe Dennis was the first man out caught by Richard Jenkinson off Jake Apperley for 9 (17 balls), 25-1, Number three was Aneeq Hassan but on reaching 10 (13 balls)(2x4) he was caught behind by Sam Curwen off Joshua Rolinson, 42-2.

Charlie Hailwood was next in but with only five runs added Daniel Unsworth was out lbw to Joshua Rolinson for 22 (60 balls)(2x4), 47-3, the new batsman was Nathan Trengove, Joshua Rolinson claimed his third wicket Charkie Hailwood bowled for 2 (22 balls), 62-4.

Kasim Masood joined Trengove but he was quickly out caught by Richard Jenkinson off Jake Apperley for 1 (9 balls), 75-5. Trevor Webster replaced Masood and with Trengove were making progress until Joshua Rolinson struck again havimg Trevor Webster caught by Christopher Hedges for 23 (24 balls)(3x4), 110-6.

The new batsman was Joshua Unsworth who lost Nathan Trengove lbw to Joshua Sackfield for 37 (48 balls)(6x4), 117-7. the incoming batsman was Oliver Ellicott, Christopher Hedges struck with two wickets in three balls, Joshua Unsworth caught and bowled for 10 (15 balls)(2x4), 133-8. two balls later Neil O'Malley lbw for 0 (2 balls), 133-9

Louis Royle was number eleven and was last man out caught by Josh Borrell off Anthony Ellison for 4 (22 balls) as Mawdesley were 146 all out in 44 overs with Oliver Ellicott 15no (32 balls).

For Thornton CLeveleys Joshua Rolinson took 4-45 from 11 overs, Christopher Hedges 2-6 off 4, Jake Apperley 2-40 from 14, Anthony Ellison 1-1 off 2, Joshua Sackfield 1-17 from 6 and Cameron Chisholm 0-36 off 7.

The Thornton Cleveleys openers Josh Borrell and Joshua Sackfield gave them a good start but on reaching 50 three wickets fell for one run, Joshua Sackfield was the first to go caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Neil O'Malley for 21 (42 balls)(4x4), 50-1. one run later Josh Borrell was bowled by Oliver Ellicott for 24 (35 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 51-2 number three Sam Curwen soon followed without addition to the score lbw to Neil O'Malley for 0 (10 balls), 51-3.

We now had two new batsmen Richard Jenkinson and Cameron Chisholm, Neil O'Malley claimed his third wicket Cameron Chisholm caught by Trevor Webster for 3 (10 balls), 63-4. Things did not improve for the visitors with the next man in Rick Blampied flling caught by Aneeq Hassan off Oliver Ellicott for 4 (17 balls), 69-5. Joshua Rolinson joined Jenkinson but O'Malley made it wicket number four Richard Jenkinson caught byDaniel Unsworth for 10 (49 balls), 81-6.

Ethan Elphick replaced Jenkinson but he became wicket number five for Neil O'Malley caught by Daniel Unsworth for 4 (5 balls), 91-7. victory looked a long way away when Christopher Hedges came to the wicket but they steadily moved towards their target, nine runs were required when Joshua Rolinson was lbw to Aneeq Hassan for 47 (64 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 138-8.

Jake Apperley joined Christopher Hedges and hit the winning runs as Thornton Cleveleys reached their taget 148-8 in 47.5 overs with Christopher Hedges 15no (48 balls) and Jake Apperley 7no (78 balls).

Neil O'Malley took 5-33 from 15 overs, Oliver Ellicott 2-36 off 15, Aneeq Hassan 1-21 from 3, Daniel Unsworth 0-21 off 7.5 and Joshua Unsworth 0-36 from 7.
