The Northern Cricket League Review

The Northern Premier League 2025 season round 5 saw all the matches play reduced over games, The top two Kendal and Garstang win along with third placed Netherfield

In the other two matches Chorley defeated Blackpool and Longridge won at Leyland.

In Division 2 St Annes make it five out of five and widen the lead at the top, Carnforth move into second place with their win at Great Eccleston, Thornton Cleveleys won their first match with an exciting 2 run win over Vernon Carus, there were also wins for Euxton and Penwortham.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 5

Chorley v Blackpool

Blackpool won the toss at Windsor Park in a 78 over match and invited the hosts to bat first, Miller Childs and Stuart Naden opened for Chorley, Chase Lynch made the early breakthrough bowling Stuart Naden for 6 (13 balls), 17-1.

Edwin Moulton was in at three and with Childs steadily moved the score along, Matthew Grindley broke the partnership trapping Edwin Moulton lbw for 16 (42 balls), (1x4, 1x6), 52-2. Keegan Petersen was the new batsman, he and Childs were approaching the hundred partnership when he was stumped by Ben Howarth off Joshua Boyne for 43 (45 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 143-3.

The incoming batsman was Will Moulton, he soon lost Miller Childs caught by Matthew Taafe off Dylan Henshall for 71 (102 balls)(7x4, 4x6), 158-4, Maxwell Seedall joined Moulton but with twenty runs added Will Moulton was bowled by Ali Usman for 12 (13 balls)(2x4), 178-5.

Joseph Tiffin was next in and with Seedall took the score past the two hundred, Ali Usman claimed his second wicket Joseph Tiffin lbw for 26 (10 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 206-6. James Dunn replaced Tiffin with only a few balls left, Chorley closed on 208-6 in their 39 overs with Maxwell Seedall 12no (14 balls) and James Dunn 1no (1 ball).

The Blackpool bowling was Ali Usman 2-76 from 11 overs, Chase Lynch 1-22 off 4, Dylan Henshall 1-28 from 5, Matthew Grindley 1-38 off 12 and Joshua Boyne 1-43 from 7.

Due to the rain the Blackpool target was revised to 168 from 26 overs. They did not get off to the best of starts losing Dylan Henshall lbw to James Dunn for 8 (4 balls)(2x4), 9-1.

Andrew Needham was the visitors number three but with only twelve runs added two wickets fell, James Dunn bowled Andrew Needham for 8 (8 balls)(2x4), 21-2, opener Kasim Munir followed caught by Stuart Naden off Edwin Moulton for 4 (13 balls), 21-3. Ali Usman and Joshua Boyne were the two new batsmen and they took the score to 49 when Ali Usman was bowled by Sam Steeple for 7 (26 balls), 49-4.

Matthew Taaffe was next in but was soon out bowled by Sam Steeple for 2 (3 balls), 51-5. Stuart Ashford joined Boyne and with Boyne leading the way kept the scoreboard ticking over until Sam Steeple claimed his third wicket bowling Stuart Ashford for 9 (31 balls), 78-6.

The incoming batsman was Jake Muncaster who came to the wicket with the visitors needing 90 runs from 6.2 overs, he was next out bowled by Miller Childs for 7 (9 balls), 121-7. Ben Howarth was the new batsman and with Boyne saw Blackpool close on 134-7 in their 26 overs., Joshua Boyne was 60no (60 balls)(8x4) and Ben Howarth 2no (2 balls).

Sam Steeple took 3-17 from 8 overs, James Dunn 2-34 off 6, Miller Childs 1-3 from 1, Edwin Moulton 1-45 off 8 and Will Moulton 0-17 from 3

Fleetwoood v Garstang

Garstang won the toss at Broadwater and put the hosts into bat with early success two wickets falling on 12, Corey Cater had Andy Drake caught by Dan Curwen for 4 (13 balls), 12-1, Matthew Crowther stumped Tomas King off Ian Walling for 3 (17 balls), 12-2.

We had two new batsmen Charlie Clark and Michael Rippon, things did not improve for the hosts as both were quickly out, Michael Rippon fell lbw to Ian Walling for 4 (6 balls), 16-3. Charlie Clark followed one run later bowled by Cory Cater for 0 (14 balls), 17-4.

Once again we have two new batsmen Harry McAleer and Jeremy Davies. They began to rebuild the innings but then three wickets fell for two runs, Corey Cater claimed his second wicket Jeremy Davies caught behind by Matthew Crowhter for 11 (32 balls), 34-5, Adam Sharrocks replaced Davies, two runs later Harry McAleer fell caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Sumit Ruikar for 5 (22 balls), 36-7, incoming batsman Declan Clerkin was out two balls later caught by Dan Curwen off Ruikar for 0 (2 balls), 36-7.

Woody Wilson and Adam Sharrocks dug in and slowly moved the score along, Danny Gilbert struck taking two wickets in two balls, he bowled Woody Wilson for 15 (26 balls)(2x4), 62-8, Hassan Mughal came to the wicket and was bowled first ball for 0 (1 ball), 62-9.

Adam Sharrocks had a new partner in Matthew Siddall, The Fleetwood innings closed on 79 all out in 33.2 overs when Adam Sharrocks was run out by Corey Cater for 22 (51 balls)(3x4) with Matthew Siddall 2no (17 balls).

All the Garstang bowlers took wickets, Corey Cater 3-14 from 11 overs, Danny Gilbert 2-10 off 6, Ian Walling 2-18 from 6 and Sumit Ruikar 2-30 off 10.2

Due to the weather Garstang had a revised target, Tom Higson and Michael Walling opened with Walling going for the runs, Tom Higson was the first to go caught by Declan Clerkin off Hassan Mughal for 3 (18 balls), 41-1.

Joseph Pearson was in at three but lost his partner Michael Walling caught by Hassan Mughal off Matthew Siddall for 40 (29 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 51-2, one run later Joseph Pearson became Hassan Mughal's second wicket caught behind by Harry McAleer for 4 (11 balls), 52-3.

We now had two new batsmen Mark Walling and Sumit Ruikar, Declan Clerkin removed Sumit Ruikar stumped by Harry McAleer for 3 (15 balls), 58-4. Ian Walling came to the wicket and attacked the bowling hitting sixteen runs off the over to win the game for Garstang as they closed on 75-4 in 16 overs, Ian Walling was 17no (9 balls)(1x4, 2x6) and Mark Walling 1no (14 balls).

For Fleetwood Hassan Mughal took 2-28 from 7, Matthew Siddall 1-23 off 5 and Declan Clerkin 1-23 from 4.

Fulwood & Broughton v Netherfield

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at the Highfield ground in a 92 over game and asked the visitors to take first knock, Reece Irving and Ben Barrow were the Netherfield opening pair and gave them a great start, Chris Brookes broke the partnership bowling Ben Barrow for 39 (58 balls)(7x4), 77-1

Cole Mcconchie came in at three and with Irving were going well until the introduction of Lewis Wellings into the attack, he had Cole Mcconchie caught by Simon Kerrigan for 36 (46 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 136-2. next in was John Huck but he soon lost his partner Reece Irving caught by Mayank Singh off Lewis Wellings for 53 (87 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 142-3.

Richard Everett joined Huck and they took the score past the two hundred, John Huck was out next caught by Simon Kerrigan off Mayan Singh for 28 (29 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 205-4. Josh Dixon replaced Huck with the overs running out, Mayan Singh claimed his second wicket Richard Everett caught by Max Smith for 56 (41 balls)(5x4, 3x6), 233-5.

Will Beeden was the new batsman he and Dixon saw the visitors close on 251-5 in their 46 overs, Josh Dixon was 19no (11 balls)(1x4, 1x6) and Will Beeden 3no (5 balls).

The Fulwood & Broughton bowling figures were Lewis Wellings 2-85 from 12 overs, Mayank Singh 2-33 off 6.3, Chris Brookes 1-21 from 4.3, Marcus Allen 0-15 off 5, Cameron Port 0-15 from 2, Ewen Mansford 0-21 off 2 and Simon Kerrigan 0-54 from 14.

The hosts reply did not get off to the best of starts, Ewen Mansford was caught behind by Will Beeden off Isaac Medhurst for 4 (19 balls), 16-1, four runs later fellow opener Matt Smith was caught by Ben Barrow off Matt Jackson for 15 (14 balls)(3x4), 20-2.

We now had two new batsmen Ben Parkinson and Ben Rosbottom, they were making progress when Matt Jackson claimed his second wicket Ben Parkinson caught by Oli Wileman for 6 (22 balls), 49-3.

Next in was Simon Kerrigan but he was soon out another Matt Jackson victim lbw for 4 (7 balls), 60-4, Lewis Wellings joined Ben Rosbottom, Oli Wileman was brought into the attack and in his second over bowled Lewis Wellings for 11 (20 balls), 85-5.

Cameron Port was the new batsman and with Rosbottom took the score past the hundred when he was out caught by Reece Irving off Harry Lee for 9 (26 balls), 105-6. Max Smith replaced Wellings but with the score on 137-6 in 36.2 overs the rains came and the match was abandoned. Ben Rosbottom was 70no (90 balls)(13x4, 1x6) and Max Smith 8no (23 balls)(2x4).

Matt Jackson took 3-30 from 9 overs, Oli Wileman 1-17 off 6.2, Harry Lee 1-27 from 8, Issac Medhurst 1-29 off 8 and Cole Mcconchie 0-31 from 5.

Kendal v Settle

Settle won the toss at Shap Road in a 78 over match and invited the hosts to bat first, Eddy Read struck for the visitors in his first over bowling Bradley Earl for 1 (3 balls), 16-1, The Kendal number three was Finlay Richardson and with Darren Nightingale moved the score along at a good rate, their partnership had just passed the fifty mark when Darren Nightingale was caught by William Davidson off Gautam Waghela for 50 (38 balls)(7x4, 2x6), 70-2.

Cole Abrahams was the new batsman and with Finley Richardson took control, Cole Abrahams reached his century and with their partnership on 179 Finlay Richardson was caught behind by Robbie Davidson for 68 (78 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 249-3.

Freddie Fallows was the new man in but with only one run added Cole Abrahams was caught by Tom Davidson off Will Vause for 113 (87 balls)(5x4, 9x6), 250-4. James Bowman replaced Abrahams but lost his partner Freddie Fallows caught by Gautam Waghela off Will Vause for 19 (7 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 275-5.

Louis Backhouse joined Bowman and Kendal closed on 314-5 in their 39 overs with James Bowman 27no (16 balls), (1x4. 2x6), and Louis Backhouse 12no (5 balls)(1x4, 1x6).

For Settle Will Vause took 3-35 from 3 overs, Eddy Read 1-36 off 3, Gautam Waghela 1-60 from 12, William Davidson 0-34 off 2, Tom Davidson 0-64 from 11 and Amar Ullah 0-83 off 8.

The Settle opening pair William Davidson and John Davidson got the visitors off to a good start with William Davidson leading the way, Christopher Miller was brought into the attack and in his second over bowled John Davidson for 8 (19 balls), 56-1.

The Settle number three was Gautam Waghela and the run rate was good until Christopher Miller struck having William Davidson caught by Darren Nightingale for 49 (37 balls)(5x4, 2x6), 71-2. Amar Ullah was next in but was soon out caught by Cole Abrahams off Freddie Fallows for 2 (12 balls), 88-3.

The incoming batsman was Harvey Green who soon became wicket number three for Christopher Miller caught by Cole Abrahams for 2 (6 balls), 91-4. Tom Davidson joined Waghela and they were going well, the return of Sam Sharp saw him remove both batsmen, Tom Davidson was bowled for 48 (41 balls)(6x4), 161-5, Gautam Waghela was trapped lbw for 47 (48 balls)(3 x4), 170-6.

The two new batsmen were James Snowden and Robbie Davidson, Christopher Miller struck again bowling Robbie Davidson for 7 (12 balls), 197-7, Benjamin Hulse came in next but became wicket number five for Christopher Miller lbw for 0 (5 balls), 208-8.

Eddy Read joined James Snowden, Louis Backhouse replaced Sam Sharp in attack and had Eddy Read caught behind by Finley Richardson for 8 (7 balls), 221-9, Will Vause was number eleven but with only one run added Settle were bowled out for 224 in 37.5 overs when James Snowden was stumped by Finlay Richardson off Freddie Fallows for 40 (39 balls)(44, 2x6) leaving Will Vause 0no (1 ball).

Christopher Miller took 5-75 from 12 overs with Sam Sharp 2-38 off 9, Freddie Fallows 2-55 from 9.5 and Louis Backhouse 1-46 off 7.

Leyland v Longridge

Longridge won the toss in a 74 over match at the Stanning Memorial Ground and chose to bat first, Tarriq Chiecktey and Joshua Mullin were scoring freely and their partnership approaching the hundred when Sam Oldham bowled Joshua Mullin for 36 (52 balls)(5x4), 94-1.

Luke Platt was in at three but had to retire hurt when he was 4no (5 balls), he was replaced by Zac Christie, Taariq Chiecktey was the next man out bowled by Andrew Jacques for 64 (79 balls)(11 x4), 116-2. Zach Proctor was in next but was soon out caught behind by Adam Sexton off Andrew Jacques for 8 (16 balls), 138-2.

Rob Hollinghurst joined Zac Christie and with the overs running out and the quest for runs saw Rob Hollinghurst fall caught by Andrew Jacques off Sam Oldham for 16 (17 balls) 176-4, Tom Howarth was the new batsman and saw Longridge close on 192-4 in their 37 overs. Zac Christie was 42no (42 balls)(3x4, 1x6) and Tom Howarth 8no (11 balls).

Andrew Jacques took 2-57 from 11 overs, Sam Oldham 2-66 off 12, Michael Pallett 0-13 from 2 and Ross Bretherton 0-50 off 12.

The Leyland reply was disastrous losing five wickets for 31 runs, Jonathan Millward was the man doing the damage, he had Reiss Carrington caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey for 0 (4 balls), 2-1.

Number three was Sam Oldham who became wicket number two for Millward caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey for 8 (13 balls)(2x4), 18-2. Karl Cross was the next wicket to fall caught by Tom Howarth off Kieran McClintock for 9 (12 balls), 18-3.

Lloyd Tennant and Jacob Wright were the two new batsmen, the Chiecktey/Millward combination struck again Lloyd Tennant caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey bowled by Jonathan Millward for 5 (12 balls), 26-4.

Andrew Makinson replaced Tennant but quickly lost Jacob Wright caught by Zac Christie off Jonathan Millward for 11 (23 balls), 31-5. Ross Bretherton joined Makinson and they reached 52 when Jonathan Millward claimed his fifth wicket Andrew Makinson caught by Rob Hollinghurst for 11 (23 balls), 52-6.

Adam Sexton was Ross Bretherton's new partner and they were making good progress when the match ended with Leyland 104-6 in 27 overs, Ross Bretherton was 42no (51 balls)(5x4) and Adam Sexton 14no (32 balls).

Jonathan Millward took 5 for 20 from 5 overs, Kieran McClintock 1-25 off 6, Gabriel Dowthwaite 0-15 from 2, Tom Howarth 0-18 off 5 and Ollie Mullin 0-20 from5.

DIVISION TWO

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 5

Carlisle v Euxton

Euxton won the toss in a 86 over match at Edenside and elected to bat first, They did not get off to the best of starts losing Ben Houghton caught by Logan Edgar off Ben Purdham for 0 (5 balls), 1-0.

James Bone came in at three and with Josh Tolley leading the way were scoring around four an over, Ben Purdham broke the partnership having Josh Tolley caught by Ben Davidson for 76 (107 balls)(6x4), 129-2.

Hakeem Perryman took over from Tolley attacking the Carlisle bowling and with Bone took the score past the two hundred, James Bone fell in the last over caught and bowled by Ben Davidson for 78 (121 balls)(9x4), 204-3.

Jack Shovelton was next in and with Perryman saw Euxton close on 215-4 in their 43 overs with Kakeem Perryman out caught by Ben Purdham off Ben Davidson for 42 (24 balls)(3x4, 2x6) off the last ball of the innings, Jack Shovelton was 3no (2 balls).

The Carlisle bowling figures were Ben Davidson 2-41 from 7 over, Ben Purdham 2-65 off 13, Johnny Westgarth 0-12 from 2, Chris Blyth 0-44 off 8 and Nico Watt 0-46 from 13.

Carlisle got off to a bad start losing Marc Brown caught behind by Danny Curtis off Jack Shovelton for 0 (3 balls), 5-1. In at three was Ben Davidson but lost his partner Tom Benn caught by James Bone off Jack Shovelton for 9 (18 balls)(2x4), 25-2.

Mohammed Jamal came to the wicket and was scoring freely, he lost Ben Davidson caught behind by Danny Curtis off Jack Shovelton for 17 (36 balls) (2x4), 34-3. Alex Raybould was in next but quickly became wicket number four for Jack Shovelton lbw for 0 (7 balls), 42-4.

Logan Edgar was the new batsman but was soon out caught by James Bone off Joseph Bowden for 2 (8 balls), 51-5. Nico Watt joined Jamal but he too did not stay long caught By James Bone off Hakeem Perryman for 0 (8 balls), 57-6.

Mohammed Jamal was watching the collapse at the other end and had a new partner in Chris Blythe, fourteen runs had been added when James Bone bowled Chris Blythe for 0 (11 balls), 71-7.

Ben Purdham replaced Blythe but lost Mohammed Jamal caught by Hakeem Perryman off James Bone for 50 (46 runs)(7x4)), 91-8. Josh Tolley was brought into the attack and cleaned up the tail with two wickets in two balls. Johnny Westgarth was out lbw for 7 (15 balls), 103-9, next ball Matthew Brown was caught by Will Joy for 0 (1 ball) Carlisle were bowled out for 103 in 27 overs with Ben Purdham 5no (11 balls).

Jack Shovelton took 4-22 from 9 overs, James Bone 2-5 off 4, Josh Tolley 2-10 from 2, Joseph Bowden 1-32 off 9 and Hakeem Perryman 1-33 from 3.

Great Eccleston v Carnforth

Great Eccleston won the toss at Hall Lane and asked the visitors to bat first, Carnforth soon lost Ryan Nelson caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Alexander Rhodes for 5 (7 balls), 6-1.

The visitors number three was Bradley Hoyle who was scoring quickly supported by Freddie Whatmuff, they had just passed the hundred when Bradley Hoyle fell caught by Mohamed Nadeem off Jim Proctor for 56 (59 balls)(6x4, 2x6), 106-2.

James Park-Johnson joined Whatmuff and continued the good run rate, their partnership was broken with Freddie Whatmuff falling caught by Will Turnbull off Mohamed Nadeem for 55 (70 balls)(8x4), 156-3. Dylan Conroy was the new batsman and was out caught and bowled by Mohamed Nadeem for 24 (14 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 188-4.

Shane Dixon was the next man in and qucikly became Mohamed Nadeem's third wicket, caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite for 6 (9balls), 2000-5. Tom Parkinson was Park-Johnson's new partner and they saw Carnforth close on 276-5 in 40 overs, Janes Park-Johnson was 53no (57 balls)(6x4) and Tom Parkinson 48no (24 balls)(2x4, 5x6).

For Great Eccleston Mohamed Nadeem took 3-58 from 11 overs, Jim Proctor 1-49 off 12, Alexander Rhodes 1-65 from 7, Nisanth Nisthian 0-36 off 4 and Phil Booth 0-56 from 6.

James Park- Johnson made an early breakthrough for the visitors having Nisanth Nithian caught by Tom Parkinson for 3 (6 balls), 5-1, Alexander Rhodes was in at three but soon became wicket number two for James Park-Johnson bowled for 16 (16 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 30-2,

Mohamed Nadeem joined Matthew Lawrenson and they took the score past fifty only for Dylan Conroy have Mohamed Nadeem caught by Tom Parkinson for 16 (15 balls)(2x6), 53-3.

Mohammed Jamal came to the wicket and was run out for 0 (2 balls) by Alfie Hill without addition to the score 53-4. Rishit Sharma replaced Jamal and with Lawrenson were making good progress until James Park-Johnson bowled Matthew Lawrenson for 45 (60 balls)(7x4), 125-5.

Joe McMillan was the new batsman but with only four runs added when James Park-Johnson claimed his four victim Joe McMillan bowled for 2 (6 balls) 129-6, disaster struck for the hosts with Rishit Sharma run out by Ryan Nelson for 44 (51 balls)(7x4), 132-7.

We now had two new batsmen Will Thistlethwaite and Phil Booth who continued to go for the runs, Phil Booth was the next man out caught by Sam Woodburn off Freddie Whatmuff for 17 (21 balls), 165-8. Will Turnbull replaced Booth but twenty runs later Will Thistlethwaite was run out by Tom Parkinson for 20 (22 balls)(3x4), 185-9.

The last pair at the wicket were Will Turnbull and Jim Proctor and they saw Great Eccleston close in a now 39 over innings on 198-9, Will Turnbull was 18no (25 balls)(2x4) and Jim Proctor 4no (14 balls).

James Park- Johnson took 4-44 from 7 overs, Freddie Whatmuff 1-25 off 5, Dylan Conroy 1-40 from 10, Tom Parkinson 0-8 off 3, Sam Woodburn 0-11 from 3, James Parkinson 0-28 off 6 and Alfie Hill 0-36 from 5.

Penwortham v Barrow

Penwortham won the toss at Middleforth Green and put the visitors into bat, Drew Postlethwaite and Simon Chadd got them off to a good start, they were going well until Ryan Roberts claimed two wickets in two balls, Simon Chadd was first to go caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Roberts for 12 (17 balls)(3x4), 54-1, next ball he bowled incoming batsman Toby Mowat for 0 (1 balls), 54-2.

Dikshant Vairagi was the new batsman and they had just pasted the hundred when Dew Postlethwaite was caught and bowled by Matthew Finnerty for 60 (63 balls)(11x4), 106-3. Jonah Lowes joined Vairagi but after supporting him for a while was out caught by Matthew Finnerty off Ashley Billington for 7 (31 balls), 132-4.

Next in was Jack Singleton , Dikshant Vairagi reached his century and when their partnership had reached 107 Jack Singleton was caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Roberts for 31 (34 balls)(3x4), 239-5.

Daryl Wearing came to the wicket with only eight balls remaining and was out on the last ball of the innings caught by Charlie Parker off Nathan Walmsley for 8 (3 balls)(2x4) as Barrow closed on 260-6 in 42 overs with Dikshant Viairagi 128no (104 balls)(14x4, 66).

The Penwortham bowling figures were Ryan Roberts 3-81 from 12 overs, Matthew Finnerty 1-33 off 10, Ashley Billington 1-40 from 9, Nathan Walmsley 1-59 off 7 and Charlie Parker 0-44 from 4.

Due to the weather Penwortham had a new target 204 runs in 34 overs, Robbie Sumner and Ryan Dimasi opened and started steadily, Daryl Wearing broke the partnership having Ryan Dimasi caught by Jack Singleton for 13 (34 balls), 42-1.

Number three was Jonathon Hothersall but he soon became wicket number two for Daryl Wearing caught by Simon Chadd for 6 (8 balls), 51-2, Joseph Bradshaw came to the wicket and went on the attack, he was out next caught by Toby Mowat off Dikshant Viaragi for 70 (34 balls)(7x4, 6x6), his contribution being nearly three quarters of their 101 partnership. 153-3.

Charlie Parker replaced Bradshaw and continued the chase, There were 9 balls remaining when Robbie Sumner was out caught by Simon Chadd off Vikshant Vairagi for 66 (101 balls)(11x4), 188-4.

Harish Hamsa came to the wicket seventeen runs required from eight balls, he hit the first ball for 4, 192, 13 runs required, Charlie Parker took a run off the first ball of the next over, 12 required, Hamsa hit the next ball for 4, 8 required, the next ball was a wide, 7 required, he hit 4 off the next ball, 3 required from 3 balls, the next ball went for six and Penwortham had won with two balls to spare, 208-4 in 33.4 overs. Charlie Parker was 25no (20 balls)(2x4, 1x5) and Harish Hamsa 18no (5 balls)(3x4, 1x6).

The Barrow bowling was Dikshant Vairagi 2-31 from 7 overs, Daryl Wearing 2-38 off 10, Gary Collins 0-21 from 2, Simon Chadd 0-35 off 4, Toby Mowat 0-40 from 4, Sam Henderson 0-41 off 6.4.

St Annes v Mawdesley

Mawdesley won the toss in a 82 over match at Vernon Road and decided to bat first, Fyffe Dennis and Ben Munslow were slowly moving the score along until Ben Munslow was run out by Luke Jardine for 7 (19 balls), 31-1.

The new batsman was Aneeq Hassan but he soon lost Fyffe Dennis bowled by Promad Maduwantha for 20 (56 balls), 43-2. Daniel Unsworth replaced Dennis, Hassan was leading the way with Unsworth supporting him, Disaster struck for the visitors as Aneeq Hassan was run out by Chamika De Zoysa for 30 (37 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 73-3.

Nathan Trengove was in next and was scoring at nearly a run a ball but lost Daniel Unsworth bowled by Promad Maduwantha for 8 (37 balls), 91-4, Will Caunce joined Trengove but soon became wicket number three for Promad Maduwantha caught behind by James Bradley for 2 (17 balls), 121-5. Kasim Masood was the new batsman but quickly lost Nathan Trengove bowled by Rory Urquhart for 43 (46 balls)(5x4, 2x6), 125-6.

Oliver Ellicott was Caunce's new partner, disaster struck for the visitors with Kasim Masood run out by Luke Jardine for 12 (14 balls)(2x4), 142-7. Joshua Adamson came to the wicket with only ten balls left to play, he was out lbw to Lukman Vahaluwala for 6 (6 balls) on the last ball of the innings as Mawdesley were 155-6 in their 41 overs, Oliver Ellicott was 7no (16 balls).

Promad Maduwantha took 3-26 from 13 overs, Lukman Vahaluwala 1-37 off 10.6, Rory Urquhart 1-65 from 12 and Chamika De Zoysa 0-23 off 5.

Due to the weather St Annes had a revise total of 159 from 41 overs, The St Annes start was steady but then lost the openers, Nathan Armstrong was bowled by Louis Royal for 11 (12 balls)(2x4), 32-1, Lukman Vahaluwala followed bowled by Joshua Adamson for 18 (26 balls)(4x4), 35-2.

The two new batsmen were Luke Jardine and Promad Maduwantha, Maduwantha took the lead and as with the openers both men were out within two runs, Oliver Ellicott bowled Luke Jardine for 6 (17 balls), 78-3, two runs later Promad Mauwantha was caught by Daniel Unsworth off Neil O'Malley for 36 (31 balls)(6x4), 80-4.

Once again we had two new batsmen Ashton Charles and Nathan Bolus, they took the score past the hundred only for Nathan Bolus to fall lbw to Neil O'Malley for 18 (26 balls)(3x4), 103-5.

Ethan Hill replaced Bolus but lost Ashton Charles caught by Joshua Adamson for 4 (27 balls), 112-6. James Bradley joined Hill and they kept the scoreboard moving along and were within sight of victory when Ethan Hill fell caught by Ben Munslow off Aneeq Hassan for 38 (30 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 149-7.

The next man in was Ryan Birkman and with James Bradley they saw the hosts to victory on 160-7 in 34.2 overs, James Bradley was 13no (34 balls) and Ryan Birkman 4no (2 balls).

The Mawdesley bowling was Neil O'Malley 3-24 from 8 overs, Aneeq Hassan 1-10 off 2.2, Louis Royal 1-30 from 5, Oliver Ellicott 1-31 off 9, Joshua Adamson 1-40 from 7 and Kasim Masood 0-22 off 3.

Thornton Clevelys v Vernon Carus

Vernon Carus won the toss in a 80 over match at Illawalla and put the hosts into bat, Jacob Holland made the early breakthrough bowling Joshua Sackfield for 0 (8 balls), 4-1.

Kia Collinge was the man coming in at three but he soon became wicket number two for Jacob Holland bowled for 4 (10 balls), 24-2, Sam Curwen replaced Collinge only to lose his partner Joshua Borrell lbw to Jacob Holland for 15 (32 balls)(1x4, 1x6). 27-3.

The new batsman was Cameron Chisholm and with Sam Curwen were going well until Ian Dunn was brought into the attack, in his second over he had Sam Curwen lbw for 38 (63 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 111-4. next in was Richard Jenkinson who became victim number two for Ian Dunn caught by Daniel Gray for 6 (14 balls), 137-5

Joshua Rolinson was the new batsman, Ian Dunn struck again having Cameron Chisholm caught behind by Haren Shetty for 67 (57 balls)(9x4, 2x6), 152-6. Christopher Hedges was Joshua Rolinson's new partner, once again Ian Dunn broke the partnership trapping Joshua Rolinson lbw for 25 (21 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 180-7.

The overs were running out as did the wickets, Mohammad Patel bowled Christopher Hedges for 9 (12 balls), 182-8, four runs later he bowled Jake Apperley for 2 (8 balls), 186-9.

Ian Dunn claimed his fifth wicket Daniel Howard caught by Daniel Gray for 3 (10 balls) as Thornton Cleveleys were bowled out for 186 in 39.1 overs, Ethan Elphick was 0no (1 ball).

Ian Dunn took 5-37 from 8.1 overs, Jacob Holland 3-54 of 12, Mohammad Patel 2-19 from 7, Kashif Jamil 0-18 off 2 and Matthew Timms 0-55 from 10.

In reply the visitors lost two early wickets, Joshua Rolinson bowled Ian Dunn for 2 (13 balls), 20-1, number three Haren Shetty quickly followed run out by Jake Applerley for 2 (1 ball), 22-2.

Wes Royle joined Matthew Timms and they were starting to make progress when Matthew Timms fell caught by Jake Apperley off Joshua Sackfield for 34 (48 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 60-3, next in was Jaxon Cornford but he lost Wes Royle stumped by Sam Curwen off Joshua Sackfield for 15 (36 balls)(3x4), 71-4.

Robert Bridges replaced Royle and with Jaxon Cornford had a partnership of 46 broken by Joshua Sackfield having Robert Bridges caught behind by Sam Curwen for 24 (38 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 117-5.

Jamie Rigby was the new batsman and with Jaxon Cornford had victory in sight, Cameron Chisholm made the breakthrough with the vital wicket of Jaxon Cornford caught by Ethan Elphick for 62 (72 balls)(6x4, 2x6), 165-6.

Daniel Gray came to the wicket with 22 balls left, 20 runs required and four wickets in hand, Jamie Rigby was out bowled by Cameron Chisholm for 21 (26 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 179-7.

Mohammad Patel was in next eight runs required from eight balls, Christopher Hedges bowled the last over seven needed for victory, he only conceded four runs so Thornton Cleveleys gained their first win in the League by two runs. Daniel Gray was 4no (5 balls) and Mohammad Patel 4no (7 balls).

The Thornton Cleveleys bowling was Joshua Sackfield 3-49 from 10, Cameron Chisholm 2-47 off 10, Joshua Rolinson 1-31 from 8, Christopher Hedges 0-21 off 3 and Jake Apperley 0-35 from 9.
